How many people on here have been assaulted/raped and have either reported or not reported it?

I found out that the conviction rate rapes was just 6% . 6% of reported rapes. There are many many many more that go unreported. I want to know roughly what kind of figure we are looking at. Please change your name if need be, but do post.....

I'll start..

Me - unreported.

spookycharlotte121 · 03/11/2008 13:26

Me- unreported. I was about 15 and drunk at a friends party. I didnt think anyone would believe me and cant really remember it as I have blocked it out.

My sister was attacked by a guy in an unmarked taxi. She reported it but he never got done for it. Its disgraceful really!

SOLOtsofBangers · 03/11/2008 13:27

Saz36 · 03/11/2008 13:27

jumpingbeans · 03/11/2008 13:28

I have never told anyone about this until now, about 35 years ago, a man grabbed/rubbed one of my tits, as he was getting of a train, busy rush hour, all standing, comuter train. I was shocked/embaressed and never told anyone, does it count- not as dreadful as some of the poor ladies on here I know, but was something I have never forgotten.

TheArmadillo · 03/11/2008 13:29

I remember this thread

there was another one by tamba at about the same time.

They are both horrifying and disturbing.

ZakuroFujiwara · 03/11/2008 13:31

I was fairly badly sexually assaulted (but not raped) when I was 13. Guy was caught, convinced to plead guilty because I had agreed to testify in court and the police made him realise how bad it would look for him if he didn't plead guilty.

He was convicted and given a 6 month suspended sentence and a £110 fine. The policeman gave my mum his address so she could arrange her own "justice" for him because he thought the sentence was so pitiful. (Thankfully she was level headed enough not to do that....)

mosschops30 · 03/11/2008 13:31

Me, attacked, abroad, young and pissed

suey2 · 03/11/2008 13:31

me, unreported

mosschops30 · 03/11/2008 13:31

oh and unreported

Saz36 · 03/11/2008 13:33

I was 19. He was a friend of a friend. We had been drinking and smoking a little weed. I said no before, at the start, and several times during.
He was only the second guy I had ever slept with. I never reported it because I thought it was my fault for putting myself in a stupid situation.
I have stopped blaming myself now as I realise some years on that NO MEANS NO - end of.

KayHiding · 03/11/2008 13:35

Me. Unreported because I felt I was to blame. Happened in a mental health ward.

weblette · 03/11/2008 13:37

As a child, unreported.

SOLOtsofBangers · 03/11/2008 13:40

Strange how so many of us blame ourselves. I have also forgiven myself now and have been able to put it away, but it I couldn't until I turned 40.
I was 16, was a boyfriend etc. Never told anyone.

eighteenstonesix · 03/11/2008 13:41

Me-unreported.I had too much to drink and ended up in a taxi with a girl(I knew vaguely)and x 2 blokes.Went back to someone's flat and then suddenly realized what I was doing and tried to get away.Anyway, bloke just slapped me around the face and told me it was "what i wanted".Then he forced himself on me.This happened 15 years ago and I still think about it alot. However, I never reported it because I know I should never have got myself into such a drunken state and gone back with him in the first place.(not that he was in the right btw.)I told my boyfriend the following morning who actually took it very well.(He's my hubbie now.)He didn't encourage me to report it though and I think I've only told two of my closest friends-one of whom has told me a very similar story too....and didn't report it either!Have never even told my Mum....she's one of the "well, you were probably asking for it" brigade!!!!

GuysballsintheSky · 03/11/2008 13:44

I was about to say no, never until I remembered a very small incident as a child with a family member. Said person died when I was 9 so twas before then sometime. I never said a word and can't remember anything else happening but it bugs me to this day.

So a no really.

Am amazed and and at how many of you have been. Very un-Mnetty but (((hugs)))

percent · 03/11/2008 13:48

My poor daughter, a month ago .

Reported, case goes to court in the New Year.

combustiblelemon · 03/11/2008 13:48

Me- unreported. I was young and felt stupid for putting myself in such a vunerable position. I wasn't willing to go through a court case that was my word against his- I don't think I could have survived if I'd not been believed.

PsychoGuyFawkesMum · 03/11/2008 13:50

yes, as a child, stepfather, unreported to police altho SS were involved.

and again, as a teen......date-rape, unreported as I felt to blame (and still do, so have never actually talked about it)

Tillyscoutsmum · 03/11/2008 13:53

yes - as a child - unreported

Mhamai · 03/11/2008 13:54
