How many people on here have been assaulted/raped and have either reported or not reported it?

I found out that the conviction rate rapes was just 6% . 6% of reported rapes. There are many many many more that go unreported. I want to know roughly what kind of figure we are looking at. Please change your name if need be, but do post.....

I'll start..

Me - unreported.

shorty-good point, the guy that attacked me actually had the cheek to call out hi to me a week later as if like you say, it had just been a one night stand, his wife was my best friend, another reason why i felt i couldnt report it.

laneydaye · 13/09/2006 21:08

we did report it but nothing.........

LadyTophamHatt · 13/09/2006 21:08

Christ almighty....I'm so shocked to read all these things about all of you.
I'm gutted, sad and angry for all of you.

F*cking hell...it's unbelieveable that it's so common and has such a shit conviction rate.

Like you donbean, I'm in the minority here and have never been in any situations like this...not even remotley like it. I thank my lucky stars for that.

Flamesparrow · 13/09/2006 21:08

Oh god, this thread is horrifying

morningpaper · 13/09/2006 21:08

I have had my share of stalkers too, I think I attract them

Sobernow I think it is terrifying when you are in that situation and you realise that actually, you have no (physical) power at all. And the person with the most physical power can make the final decision.

Twiglett · 13/09/2006 21:09

me - not raped

but made to feel scared and 'felt-up' against my will twice .. once at a party, once in the street

why didn't I report it? because it didn't seem so serious and I felt it was my fault for not being more careful

laneydaye · 13/09/2006 21:09

god space cadet was he on drugs and had forgotten what hed done>?

Dunnyjo · 13/09/2006 21:09

i was 14 - unreported

i sometimes put it at the back of my mind and pretend it did not happen

SpaceCadet · 13/09/2006 21:10

the even worse twist was that i had to lie to my friend and say id got pregnant by a one night stand as she accompanied me to the hospital.
my stomachs churning now thinking it all over and typing it down, even though it was 12 years ago, i moved away from the village, felt i had no choice.

colditz · 13/09/2006 21:10

Assaulted once on a coach, aged 22. Flashed once aged 15

VeniVidiVickiQV · 13/09/2006 21:10

MP - i could have written what you have been posting...

Mine were all under the age of 17.

sexaul assualt at a party - aged 12 by a boy 3 years older I met that day - pinned me down so degree of violence involved.
sexual assualt by a boyfriend (violence involved and further violence threatened) aged 14 he was 16
raped aged 15 (drugs involved)
same aged 16 - self esteem so so low at that point..
sexual assualt aged 17 - fought like a cat in a bag as he tried to drag me off into the bushes for some more than just "fresh air". I won....

MoonFrog · 13/09/2006 21:10

Just spotted thread...
Me - unreported. I was 18, he was a "friend", didn't tell anyone apart from my brother. Dh knows, but we've never really discussed it.

laneydaye · 13/09/2006 21:11

..................in shock..............

QueenEagle · 13/09/2006 21:11

Me, aged 14. Not reported. My parents made me feel I was the guilty one.

On Monday this week, I finally told dh about it.

CrocodileKate · 13/09/2006 21:11

I try and pretend that it didn't happen too Donbean but have been in three seperate situations, including one as a child, and just feel that it affects everything that I am.

SpaceCadet · 13/09/2006 21:11

laney-he seemed pretty with it to me...maybe he kidded himself that it was consensual.

CrocodileKate · 13/09/2006 21:12

Sorry I meant DunnyJo.

laneydaye · 13/09/2006 21:13

42......in 20 mins...ffs

morningpaper · 13/09/2006 21:13

It's all terrible isn't it

I was also drunk on a bus once and woke up to discover the man behind me had his hand under my shirt (round the side of the seat near the window)

I worry about the drinking culture of young women these days ... because you put yourself in DANGER.

Jeez this makes me wonder why the feck anyone worries about paedophiles

TambaTheDragonSlayer · 13/09/2006 21:15
  1. Reported. Went to Crown Court, He was found Not Guilty

  2. Unreported (what was the point after the first time?)

laneydaye · 13/09/2006 21:15

good night everyone and please make sure you all think of something nice /good before you go to bed tonight... my heart goes out to all of you..xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

CrocodileKate · 13/09/2006 21:15

I acn see what you mean about the drink, but none of mine involved drink.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 13/09/2006 21:15

As a youngster (under the age of 10 mostly) I was flashed quite often. A brook and open space was next where we lived and it was always me that spotted the flasher.....

I agree - i think alot of them dont realise they aer doing wrong, or feel that they have a justification having got so far, or being a boyfriend/partner.

I also think that those that are pre-disposed tend to seek out more "vulnerable" sorts, which is why some have no experience and quite alot more have more than one experience.

maybe. Perhaps. I dont know.
