How many people on here have been assaulted/raped and have either reported or not reported it?

I found out that the conviction rate rapes was just 6% . 6% of reported rapes. There are many many many more that go unreported. I want to know roughly what kind of figure we are looking at. Please change your name if need be, but do post.....

I'll start..

Me - unreported.

Oh, ugh, and when I was old enough to know better, I ended up in a situation with a partner's best friend (fgs!) that I knew would have been rape if I'd been younger or drunker, but was instead a bad comedy experience.

This man seemed sorry the next day, but maybe just for coming onto his friend's gf.

twinsetandpearls · 13/09/2006 20:57

nothing brave and brilliant about it, you just deal with what you have to and I have dertainly learnt my lesson the hard way.

galaxy · 13/09/2006 20:58

One of mine was unknown to me until that evening out.

The other was a boyfriend that had just dumped me and raped me whilst I slept in our bed. He was a vicious drunk

morningpaper · 13/09/2006 20:58

yes, I was young

it is so hard when you are young

I remember telling my therapist that sometimes saying "no" just seems rude and impolite

the look of horror on her face was a moment of revelation

Mercy · 13/09/2006 20:58

MP - totally agree.

OK, by my own definition I would say twice. Who is going to believe you about an incident that occured after consensual sex?

misdee · 13/09/2006 20:59

me never

but was flashed by a man in my teens and didnt report it. i was about 15, group of 3 girls, we just cracked up with laughter as it was so weird. thats awful isnt it?

LiliLaTigresse · 13/09/2006 21:00

this is so sad
I didn't report my assault as I didn't know the guy, I was foreign, leaving the next day, and just grateful he got off the train before me as I had to stay until the last stop.

laneydaye · 13/09/2006 21:01

31........

Mercy · 13/09/2006 21:01

Oh shit mp no

I wa replying to your first post btw.

LiliLaTigresse · 13/09/2006 21:01

and have only ever told dh about it

NotQuiteCockney · 13/09/2006 21:01

Oh, goodness, one night when a girlfriend and I were off our heads and going for a long long walk, we were flashed by four different blokes. Separately.

They must have been friends, right, though? They were all young and athletic and so on.

It was soooo weird. And I'd never been flashed before or since. It wasn't scary at all.

SpaceCadet · 13/09/2006 21:03

i didnt report mine as id welcomed him into my home..no ones going to beleive it was rape..thats what i beleived, i fell pregnant as a result and terminated the pregnancy.

laneydaye · 13/09/2006 21:03

I was actually flashed aswell once some pervert got his pecker out as he was passing us and started wanking! the awful thing was my mates 4 yr old dd was with us.........

bubble99 · 13/09/2006 21:05

VVVQV. Thanks for starting this thread. So many women have obviously felt unable to report rape.

CountTo10 · 13/09/2006 21:05

I know in my case I felt like I was partly to blame and I was young and had a bit of a reputation. It was a boyfriend and I felt that by reporting it and turning it into a crimial proceeding it was just going to turn into a he said she said and I didn't believe enough in myself at the time to feel that anyone would be that bothered. It wasn't until i broke my silence on it months later to a friend that I realised how wrong I was.

Its so sad that so many people are affected by this crime and that it more than not is carried out by people close to you. It certainly destroyed my faith in men for a long while after.

laneydaye · 13/09/2006 21:05

there are so many sickos out there...

shorty3 · 13/09/2006 21:05

Me - unreported

It makes me think though, do any of them actually realise what they have done?

The person that did it to me just acted normally whenever I saw him in passing afterwards, as though it was a consensual one night stand.

Yes shorty a very good question

bubble99 · 13/09/2006 21:06

Spacey.

misdee · 13/09/2006 21:06

laneydaye, thats awful

i often wonder if we had reprted him what would've happened. i wouldnt have been able to idenify him as he had covered the rest of himself up.
