Not only has she looked after my children whilst I have a day off as I'm a bit ill, but she's just TEXTED to say she'll drop them back later in their PJs ready for bed so I don't have to go and collect them.

Oh and she's had my dog all day too.

Sad

What kind of family did I marry in to??? What on earth should I do???

Oh FFS. Just heard from DSis and BIL and my DC who are with them for the weekend while me and DP decorate. They have had a "lovely day" with a cinema trip, a visit to the sweetshop and they are now waiting for a takeaway pizza which they will eat in front of an open fire and Strictly on the telly.

How dare they treat my children like this? She's threatening to take them to the adventure playground tomorrow.

So what are you going to do? I think you need to speak with your own parents about this. I'm pretty sure they're to blame somewhere.

I'm sorry, my resolve slipped today. I was putting up the Christmas decorations and accidentally put up stockings for the DN's - then texted a pic to SIL to let her know that Santa would call here if there was an admin error and he missed her place (she has a 6yo with ASD, chances are high)

She got me back though by insisting I tell her what I want for Christmas Angry

You know what: i've been thinking about my own parents today, and i think they're completely evil, too.
They came down to visit me, for hours on the train because my dad couldn't drive after having a stroke, then they stayed in a travel lodge so that we wouldn't be "put out" Hmm, and then! then! they gave us a cheque to pay for the (rather expensive) cot that we chose, and (would you believe it, i couldn't!) a bloody car seat. Shock

I was absolutely fuming at their gall!
(and my mum is even thinking about getting a sodding webcam and Skype so that she can spy on us when we've had the baby!)

Am simply loving this thread - I jumped on it prepared for another "toxic MIL" story - so was mightily relieved. We need more of these - yes I am a MIL and a bloody good one too!

Whoah Nana - I'm pretty sure you're one of those loving foster Mums too aren't you? Angry

I bet you put yourself out for others with selfless disregard too don't you?

you're not just letting yourselves down, you're letting us all down. Tut.

Oh I've only just found this thread and you are all so right. My terrible MIL is just like yours and I've just remembered that she's forcing me to telephone her this evening so she can get the right things for the DCs Christmas presents Sad [put-upon].

And she's invited herself down for days and days over Christmas and will monopolise the children for two mornings while I work and wake up at stupid o'clock to look after them while we have a lie in. The thing that really gets to me is that she insists that she "doesn't mind" because she gets up early normally anyway and she knows we don't often get a lie in Angry. Completely transparent.
