Crikey - Guess what MIL has done now!

smackapacca · 30/11/2011 15:42

Not only has she looked after my children whilst I have a day off as I'm a bit ill, but she's just TEXTED to say she'll drop them back later in their PJs ready for bed so I don't have to go and collect them.

Oh and she's had my dog all day too.

Sad

What kind of family did I marry in to??? What on earth should I do???

Shock at purple

I cannot believe you have the cheek to complain about your MIL when you have fully admitted on here how nice you are yourself how horrific you have been to your own SIL

Shame on you!!

purplepidjin · 01/12/2011 17:48

It's revenge, Migrating - what goes around comes around, you know Wink

OliviaMumsnet · 01/12/2011 20:04

Shock at all these MILs.
I don't know how you all cope, honestly.
I'm moving this thread out of chat for the moment.
Thanks
M Towers

smackapacca · 01/12/2011 20:11

@smackapacca

Oh why's that then?
Threads in chat get deleted after 90 days. Wouldn't want to lose this brilliant thread and it's under review to go into Classics.

Don't be Sad - it's still in active convos.
Thanks
M Towers

smackapacca · 01/12/2011 20:18

Well I feel very honored.

Luckily I believe you aren't one of these heinous women yet Olivia, but with help like this you might well go on the list.

purple, that's like perverted karma, no??

Have you not heard of the phrase 'treat others as you yourself wish to be treated'?? tusk

Smacka so glad this is up for classics consideration! It seems you've struck a cord in exposing the very best worst excesses of so many MILs out there!

smackapacca · 01/12/2011 21:37

I think the exposure of my hardship and sacrifice deserves WAY more than a consideration for classics.

I have laid bare my soul and been to very dark places in the last 24 hours namely my bed.

I consider myself to be a very feminine Jeremy Kyle. I think I'm the Roger Cook of Mumsnet the exposing the bitter truth about the uhneard MILs. The ones that go out of our way to make out lives good.

A nomination for classics?

Pah - It's a Damehood I covert.

Oh my God, I've only just found this thread but you've helped me finally realise how truly ghastly my MIL is.

She steals looks after DD once a week, in some half hearted attempt to save me childcare fees or somesuch other bollocks (so she says, I think it's so she gets to force DD out in the garden all day. Which is so unfair; she's not used to so much running around as we don't have any outdoor space here). Not only that, but she actually picks her up AND drops her off. She lives half an hour's drive away, I mean, how needy?!?

And I think she's got my own mum in on it. She only took DD overnight last week so me and DH could go out and get pissed and then kept her all the next day so we could have a lie in (I'm sure that's the word she used).

Eugh, grandparents

smackapacca · 01/12/2011 21:54

Stetsons - you're in the right place. Why would anyone think it's OK to let a child run around outside? Cruel and interfering.

MigratingChestnutsOnAnOpenFire · 01/12/2011 21:55

you are right of course...hard nose investigative expose style journalism such as this does deserve so much more...

StetsonsAreCool · 01/12/2011 21:55

That's exactly what I said.

And she won't let her eat chocolate either. The only food available is the veg the PILs grow in the garden, and everything's homecooked.

Poor DD Sad

StetsonsAreCool · 01/12/2011 21:57

Seriously though, awesome thread smacka.

Who do we address damehood nominations to?

smackapacca · 01/12/2011 21:58

Um The Queen?

Or Maybe as this is MN, LeQueen?

A bookmark for a grandchild's birthday? God, you lucky cow. How I wish my mil and own mother were more like that with my children. All my kids get are forty quid playstation games, and ipods and things. I could cry when I realise how much better other people's families are. I feel so alone and abnormal.

Jux · 02/12/2011 09:35

You know, my own mother was one of these ghastly gps. She used to take dd away to Hampton Court and awful places like that. She too would buy the expensive ds games like Professor Layton - the ones which might actually make dd think Shock, not only that, but she would drag my brothers in on this stuff as well so that dd would get taken to pantomimes in London and travel on the tube so that dd had to cope with all that excitement and fun! It was horrific.

DD would spend hours with her because the woman lived with us, learning to sew, embroider and make tapestries.

And to cap it all, mum was patient and wise and would listen to dd's worries, hopes and fears and - oh I can hardly bear to say it - give her good advice [gulp]

I could cry.

StaceymAloneForver · 02/12/2011 09:45

oh Jux having to live with someone like that, how did you bear it??

Jux · 02/12/2011 10:13

Thank you , I've been too ashamed of my acquiescence to speak of it before.

You've all been so brave.

MigratingChestnutsOnAnOpenFire · 02/12/2011 17:04

help!!

MIL has just invited us over to sunday lunch and I just know she will pester me as to what the kids will want for christmas. She likes to make sure they get what they would like most.

bloody hell

lostinwales · 02/12/2011 17:39

My Mil is so selfish she has spent the entire day rearranging her shifts so that we can go out on DH's birthday next Friday, she's even going to see if she can make her Saturday shift a late so she can have them overnight. When will this end?
