What can I buy from Argos for £4ish to win a bet?

I have £4 worth of Argos vouchers that run out on Friday.
Dh tried to throw them in the bin this morning, saying that I wouldn’t be able to get anything worth having with them without adding a lot on.
I need to win this bet as I lost the last one and haven’t lived it down.

I thought I’d cracked it when I found a pair of slippers but you have to pay online for TU clothes and the vouchers can’t be used online.
We have a 2 year old so stocking filers are a possibility. Please hit me with your best suggestions so that I can wipe the smug look off dh’s face. Grin

Love it! Please take pics for us!!

BalaclavaDeadHead · 25/10/2018 20:24

Picture when you do it! I’m going to have to buy a damn Raven now too!! 😂

BalaclavaDeadHead · 25/10/2018 20:25

But make sure it says ‘loser’ and not ‘looser’ 😂 or he may think the door handle needs fixing or something haha

nevermorelenore · 25/10/2018 20:26

So I was in Sainsbury’s and can confirm they have big ravens for £4 and baby ravens for £2.50! There were loads left so can’t be many MNetters in my area. Here’s a close up of his unimpressed face.

Anyway, I got Edgar home and put him on a shelf in the living room and went to wash up. DH came home and I heard him yell ‘Jesus Christ!’ Apparently he thought a bird had flown into the house and it scared the shit out of him. So the £4 was well worth it!

I am planning to hide him in other places to see if I can get another scare. The bathroom? Under the duvet?

Haha. Very good point. balaclava

Getting the bloody light up was tricky with my 5ft nothing but am hoping it will be worth it.

The added bonus is that I can rub it in every time we come in or go out in the dark!

nevermorelenore Kitchen cupboard! He Opens it to get something and there’s Edgar saying hello lol

GhoulMythicalMoooaning · 25/10/2018 20:30

Haha brilliant plan but yes loser. Smile

BlueBug45 · 25/10/2018 20:34

I collected Alfred from Argos earlier. While there were two of his same size brethren on the shelves I didn't see any babies. Hmm

The assistant who gave it to me looked as puzzled as my 7 week DD when I showed it to her.

Wagonwheelsandstrawberryjam · 25/10/2018 20:40

Haha brilliant, best thread I've read all day Grin i'm also going to buy a raven because I'm a sheep

DropZoneOne · 25/10/2018 20:55

Which one of you is responsible for the Argos Q&A Grin

Are there accessories available for the raven? I would like to dress him up for Christmas

SoupDragon · 25/10/2018 20:57

If he opens the curtains in the morning, I can recommend hanging the raven outside the window.

😇

SoupDragon · 25/10/2018 21:00

Also, you can attach a raven to a coat hanger and hang it from the architrave outside the bedroom door so that it is at eye height when he opens the door in the morning.

CharlotteUnaNatalieThompson · 25/10/2018 21:07

How many people looking at and buying this are mumsnetters? 😂😂😂

In the kitchen cupboard so that it falls out when he opens it!
Oh I’m imagining all sorts of ongoing fun now. My poor dh won’t know what’s hit him.

My poor dh won’t know what’s hit him.

He will: a raven.

soupforbrains · 25/10/2018 22:05

I will pick Mortimer up tomorrow.

In the meantime having reviewed the pictures and heard the many concerns about the eyes I have preordered these. So that I will have options.

Also, this thread has genuinely kept me going this week.

Thank you my batty (raven-y?) friends

nevermorelenore · 25/10/2018 22:13

Why didn’t I think of kitchen cupboard? Edgar has been placed peeking out behind the coffee mugs. In the morning, I’m going to ask DH to make me a coffee and enjoy the show. Grin

Does anyone else have a family member who collects those faceless Willow Tree figurines? I’m always tempted to stick googly eyes on them and see if they notice.

soupforbrains · 25/10/2018 22:33

Yes! And I have done it before.

I must admit this is not my first foray into adventures with googlie eyes.

I put them on all the objects on my colleagues desk one day last summer to cheer him up. Every time I see his phone it still makes me giggle

greathat · 25/10/2018 22:36

Ordered 97 times...was the original raven poster an Argos employee who accidentally ordered too many ravens...

Storm4star · 25/10/2018 22:41

This thread is hilarious. OP, your plan is brilliant.
Guys add some more questions to the Q&A, lol. We can have some fun with Argos!

Shocksandboooos · 25/10/2018 22:48

soup you will be able to give your raven so many different expressions.
Wide eyed with shock, little Brady plotting eyes, you could even use a big and a small to make the classic mumsnet Hmm

Shocksandboooos · 25/10/2018 22:49

Brady? No, beady!

Shocksandboooos · 25/10/2018 22:51

I can’t see any questions on Argos.
