What can I buy from Argos for £4ish to win a bet?

I have £4 worth of Argos vouchers that run out on Friday.
Dh tried to throw them in the bin this morning, saying that I wouldn’t be able to get anything worth having with them without adding a lot on.
I need to win this bet as I lost the last one and haven’t lived it down.

I thought I’d cracked it when I found a pair of slippers but you have to pay online for TU clothes and the vouchers can’t be used online.
We have a 2 year old so stocking filers are a possibility. Please hit me with your best suggestions so that I can wipe the smug look off dh’s face. Grin

@Shocksandboooos The raven is very tempting too. I could keep him out all year and buy him seasonal accessories..... Santa hat, Cupid wings, bunny ears..., the possibilities are endless!

AND you have the immense satisfaction of it costing EXACTLY £4 and thus the PERFECT bet winning purchase.

Yes! Get it in time for Halloween, and instead of doing Elf on the Shelf you could have Raven in the Haven.

Storm4star · 23/10/2018 11:30

The raven is great! Then it can stand in your home forever reminding your DH that you won the bet! Grin

I am picturing the raven with an Easter bonnet and I can't stop giggling to myself.

KC225 · 23/10/2018 11:50

I picture raven in a football shirt with red and white painted face next world cup

Reaa · 23/10/2018 11:51

Agree with above posters, you have got to get the Raven.

TheOrville · 23/10/2018 12:00

I just looked at her Raven... it said there were 64 people view that item right now. Wonder how many are mumsnetters?

soupforbrains · 23/10/2018 12:02

64 Grin

I personally particularly enjoyed the review by Rory from London.

Charley50 · 23/10/2018 12:10

A box

MumW · 23/10/2018 12:14

The only trouble with the Raven is that your could argue it wasn't worth having.
I couldn't live with it wother, it's too creepy

I wonder if you can order Tu in store using the vouchers?

MrsRubyMonday · 23/10/2018 12:18

On a more practical level, we had similar left over gift vouchers, bought the Argos basics wok. I think it was about £5 and it's still going several years later.

flamingofridays · 23/10/2018 12:20

ah but you cant put an easter bonnet on a wok can you ruby Grin

please buy the raven.

dingdongdigeridoo · 23/10/2018 12:21

Two pairs of kids Brussel sprout socks:

Or this tote bag, which you can carry everywhere and forever remind him of his wrongness:

Shocksandboooos · 23/10/2018 12:22

I have just had the same thought Mum.
Dh has just sent me a text asking how my ‘tat’ shopping is going and predicting that I will spend all day trying to win. He says that he is currently practicing his ‘in your face’ dance.
I need this win!

Play doh would have been a good idea but I already have some put away for Christmas for Dd.

could you pick up some googly eyes on the way home and pop them on the Raven too?

and/or some sequins and spell out ' I WIN' on the raven's back?

Loonoon · 23/10/2018 12:29

twospoonsofcoffee · 23/10/2018 12:43

Batteries definitely. You'll wipe the floor with him with that one! Practical, useful, necessary, not tat!

gottastopeatingchocolate · 23/10/2018 12:43

Batteries... but...

Somehow get hold of some dead batteries and pop them in the TV remote before DH gets home.

Say NOTHING about the bet.

Wait for DH to try to use the remote, and then produce the batteries - "oh, yes, I picked some up today from Argos"!

Bowerbird5 · 23/10/2018 12:50

Excellent idea.

I laughed about the raven BUT he would do his"in the face dance" because it was tat.
I won a bet with DH because I lived off £12 for a week while he was away once. What he didn't know was I was going to two things at church which both involved buffets.
It was hard though.

Rockbird · 23/10/2018 12:56

Batteries would be the sensible option but God I love the idea of the raven!

Loyaultemelie · 23/10/2018 13:07

😮😮 I actually really do need this creepy raven decoration in my life I wonder if I buy 2 or 3 would it justify delivery Halloween Hmm

legocardsagain · 23/10/2018 13:08

I'm still #teambatteries

with a pack of 4 you could potentially get to the end of life out of the first set, the whip out the second 2 batteries for the remote and do your I Win dance all over again for another couple of years.

This could go on and on... like the Duracell bunny! And I would definitely have birthday parties for them. Grin
