What can I buy from Argos for £4ish to win a bet?

I have £4 worth of Argos vouchers that run out on Friday.
Dh tried to throw them in the bin this morning, saying that I wouldn’t be able to get anything worth having with them without adding a lot on.
I need to win this bet as I lost the last one and haven’t lived it down.

I thought I’d cracked it when I found a pair of slippers but you have to pay online for TU clothes and the vouchers can’t be used online.
We have a 2 year old so stocking filers are a possibility. Please hit me with your best suggestions so that I can wipe the smug look off dh’s face. Grin

I picked mine up today, i want a baby one too! I can't post a pic for some reason.

SoupDragon · 24/10/2018 17:45

She asked me whether it was going to be a Halloween decoration or an all year round decoration. I said probably all year round!

A raven is for life, not just for Halloween.

A raven is for life, not just for Halloween

Grin Grin This is true!

I was thinking how OP's voucher has ended up costing a number of us £4 each! Argos have profited well from that! OP, I really hope you manage to get your raven! Whether you use the voucher for it or not, you definitely need one now.

Rockbird · 24/10/2018 17:52

Bollocks. I bought the baby. Never mind, dh is less likely to notice it until I put his Santa hat on...

OwlinaTree · 24/10/2018 21:33

I've just purchased this raven. The power of Mumsnet!! I didn't know there was a baby too.

soupforbrains · 25/10/2018 09:41

I wasn't able to pick up Mortimer yesterday either Sad now I won't be able to pick him up until tomorrow.

I'm getting very jealous of everyone else flaunting their Ravens.

Still, I'm off to Thorpe Park on Saturday, perhaps I can take him with me for the Fright Nights?

Historic Royal Palaces have a whole plethora of raven-related goodies to accompany your argos ravens Grin www.historicroyalpalaces.com/giftcollections/britishgifts-souvenirs/raven-towerlondongifts.html

I just saw Daddy Raven in Sainsbury's (yes another one!). Maybe my baby wasn't £4...

OwlinaTree · 25/10/2018 12:45

Maybe we should purchase the capes and have a photoshoot with our Argos beauties 🦅

Storm4star · 25/10/2018 12:58

@Fredathetortoise

No, no, no, don't give us more things to buy! Grin

I note it says:
Legend has it that if the six ravens ever leave the Tower of London, the Tower and the kingdom will fall.

Clearly this now needs to rewritten to say:
Legend has it that if the ravens ever leave the homes of MNers, the kingdom will fall.

I have a raven, I have a raven!

The man in the shop looked at me like this Halloween Hmm when I went to collect it so I think that Argos are wondering wtf. Although it may have been the look of unbridled joy on my face that caused it.

I have realised quickly that my raven is in fact female so needs a different name. I am contemplating
Morgana,
Lilith (belonging to the night),
Zelda (dark battle)
Or Nyx

Here she is perched proudly in dd’s knee in the pram while we were shopping.

Welcome to Jeremy. So called as Corbyn is Middle English for small raven, apparently. Hopefully won't take out my frustration about his namesake's views on women and the Jewish community out on the poor bird.

What can I buy from Argos for £4ish to win a bet?
Shocksandboooos · 25/10/2018 14:00

Definately need to find some better eyes.

Next year, Argos are going to over stock Ravens and have loads left over!

BarbaraofSevillle · 25/10/2018 14:13

all tea spoons eventually grow up into big spoons

Do they then leave home, hence explaining disapperance of said teaspoons?

I also need a raven as it could probably used to play a cruel trick on the cats. I think I will put it on the outside windowsill of their favourite window that they sit by to watch the wildlife and plan which ones they will kill next.

The sight of a seemingly fearless raven staring at them unmovingly for hours at a time could freak them out somewhat and exact appropriate revenge for all the ones they have killed and I've had to clean the remnants out of the carpet.

TheHobbitMum · 25/10/2018 14:27

I have my Raven reserved Grin

Reginald the Raven will join Gary the Goblin and Graham the Gargoyle who are my year round friends on display. They each get dressed up for the different seasons/events Grin

dontticklethetoad · 25/10/2018 14:32

@Tyneteas I don't think a blog has ever made me laugh like that Grin

ACurlyWurly · 25/10/2018 14:45

Can we all ask questions about the raven on Argos? a flood or MN questions and reviews....standing by for someone to ask if it comes with a bonnet.

ilovetocook · 25/10/2018 14:52

I've just reserved a raven 😃 I can collect him tomorrow.

Storm4star · 25/10/2018 16:24

Reviews! Yes. That's so funny. I'm going to write one now.

OP, so happy you got your raven!

Storm4star · 25/10/2018 16:27

Nooo, I can't review. Will have to be a question instead.

VittysCardigan · 25/10/2018 16:35

I have sourced a santa hat for Roland in preparation for the festive season.

Shelvesoutofbooks · 25/10/2018 16:36

Mugs!!!

Shelvesoutofbooks · 25/10/2018 16:36

Wow how did I not notice there were 8 pages to this thread

Shocksandboooos · 25/10/2018 20:10

So... the plan.

I am going to see some friends this weekend and won’t be home when dh gets home from work at 8pmish.

Our street is very dark. Last year I bought a battery operated security light with a sensor. DH was supposed to put it up (because he is taller than me) but it never happened. I have been nagging since the nights got darker this year but he still hasn’t gotten around to it. Can you see where I am going with this? Grin

So, the light will be positioned so that it senses him as he comes through the gate and will go off to create a spotlight on Minerva the raven standing proudly cellotaped to the door handle. Above her will be the recept for the batteries with ‘Looser’ written on it.

My wonderful equally nuts neighbour is going to keep an eye out for dh getting home and will let me know so that I can WhatsApp a video of me doing my ‘in your face’ dance to him. Halloween Grin

This has all gotten ridiculously out of hand.
