To have bought ds's teacher a giant kestrel?

I mean at least she won't get a duplicate and it make a change from 'best teacher' mugs?!

Asked ds what she liked - gardening apparently. DS's class is kestrel class so aha I thought. A little kestrel ornament for the garden. Except it is not little. No no. It is a gigantic genetically modified kestrel. Maybe she can put it at the bottom of the garden so it looks smaller?!

That is the most brilliant teacher gift I have ever seen. It will become the standard against which all future gifts are judged.

SilverLining17 · 04/07/2017 12:32

Maybe - I need to measure his head as you say. They look quite small though!
Perhaps a build a bear type one? Does it make it a more or less insane gift it it's wearing a hat?!

It looks like one of those ones that people use to scare pigeons away.

mrsBeverleygoldberg · 04/07/2017 12:34

It's brilliant!

alwaysthepessimist · 04/07/2017 12:34

I love it!!

ShmooBooMoo · 04/07/2017 12:36

Actually, this one might be better as it's small not overinvested at all Ha ha

He could wear it at a jaunty angle... Smile

honeysucklejasmine · 04/07/2017 12:37

That's amazing. As a teacher, I would love that.

rightwhine · 04/07/2017 12:38

It's great. If it's not wanted in the garden it'll be brilliant for the classroom. In fact they may think it is for the classroom.

VeenyCat · 04/07/2017 12:38

I'm a teacher (of 14-18 year olds, in Switzerland, so NO links to kestrels whatsoever) and I WISH someone would give me this as a gift!! It would totally live in my classroom and I would absolutely tell the students it was watching them Wink. They'd indulge me...

Fab gift, let us know how it's received!

AllJack · 04/07/2017 12:38

Brilliant present!

We are giving the dc teacher this...

You can make an origami mortar board (that's what the teacher's hat is) here or . Seems to be cheaper than buying a graduation teddy and unpicking its hat.

BoysofMelody · 04/07/2017 12:40

Is the teacher Northern? If the film Kes taught me anything is that northerners love a kestrel.

DramaAlpaca · 04/07/2017 12:41

He's wonderful, I'm not a teacher but I'd love to get that as a present.

MilkTwoSugarsThanks · 04/07/2017 12:41

Hang one of these round it's neck Grin

BoysofMelody · 04/07/2017 12:43

But it makes a seriously good classroom mascot!

Raahh · 04/07/2017 12:44

it's amazing!

I bought dd's nursery a terracotta hedgehog garden ornament 7 years ago when she left, because they used to call her DDHedgehog after a book with her name in it.

They still have it. Grin.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 04/07/2017 12:45

OP, you need to give it to the teacher along with a print out of this thread so they know how much thought has gone into it Grin

Eolian · 04/07/2017 12:45

I'm a teacher. Nobody ever gave me a giant, judgmental kestrel, dammit.

Seriously OP, the teacher will love it if they have any sense of humour. I would have it in my classroom and call it the Kestrel of Doom or something. It would feature as a prop in lessons and be loved/feared by all.

SilverLining17 · 04/07/2017 12:46

I like the flamingo hat. His scathing expression would suit it. Like WTF is on my head?
I was going to wrap him in bubble wrap and put him in a gift bag but maybe I will just show up on the playground with him.

I wouldn't trust ds to carry him until we were on the point of handover. He's quite heavy...

This is brilliant Grin

NoFuckingRoomOnMyBroom · 04/07/2017 12:51

That is an ace gift.

diddl · 04/07/2017 12:51

I think it's a bit of a leap to think that someone who likes gardening would also like an ornament for said garden.

That said, if it's not wanted for the garden it would be great in the classroom.

Packets of seeds also?
