To have bought ds's teacher a giant kestrel?

I mean at least she won't get a duplicate and it make a change from 'best teacher' mugs?!

Asked ds what she liked - gardening apparently. DS's class is kestrel class so aha I thought. A little kestrel ornament for the garden. Except it is not little. No no. It is a gigantic genetically modified kestrel. Maybe she can put it at the bottom of the garden so it looks smaller?!

She can put it in the class.
'Kestrels always watching children'

chowmeinchick · 04/07/2017 12:00

This is a good idea 😁

Vereesa · 04/07/2017 12:02

I LOVE IT! "Giant kestrel watches over you" gong sounds. Grin

steppedonlego · 04/07/2017 12:04

Howling. Please still give it her op.

Storymakers · 04/07/2017 12:05

If I was a teacher I'd absolutely put it in the classroom.

ParadiseCity · 04/07/2017 12:06

Put it in the classroom with a ticking clock inside it. Even more sinister. Shock

Somerville · 04/07/2017 12:07

Grin Grin

Is DS prepared to give it to her?!

SilverLining17 · 04/07/2017 12:09

He hasn't seen it yet...
It looks a little judgemental??

Maybe it can sit in the corner of the classroom and she can move it to desks of children that are misbehaving?!

Brilliant! She'll remember this for-ever. It'll make her day.

HemanOrSheRa · 04/07/2017 12:11

Grin That is EPIC! She will love it and it'll probably make her cry happy tears!

AdaColeman · 04/07/2017 12:11

I want one! Grin

ooerrmissus · 04/07/2017 12:11

Brilliant! I thought I'd done well with teacher gifts this year but that's a step above!

regularbutpanickingabit · 04/07/2017 12:11

Just hope she hasn't been assigned a new class for next year and some poor, unsuspecting did arrives at their new class in September to find the kestrel minder in place 😂

trulybadlydeeply · 04/07/2017 12:11

It's wonderful! It will definitely scare the children into submission.

grannytomine · 04/07/2017 12:11

Definitely memorable.

SilverLining17 · 04/07/2017 12:12

I have visions of her taking it to the staffroom and saying in a long suffering voice 'look what little silverlining's mother has bought me!' and wishing it was wine instead.

It is about 40cm long. I think I should have checked its dimensions before purchase...

She's kestrels again next year - I checked before buying the kestrel. See it was so well thought out. Apart from it is fucking huge and a little scary.

NorthernLurker · 04/07/2017 12:15

I would give it and a bottle of wine. She'll need a drink.

FooFighter99 · 04/07/2017 12:15

I think it's awesome! Better than candles or wine any day

ShmooBooMoo · 04/07/2017 12:15

Give it to her. In Kestrel class surely it makes sense to have an oversized kestrel on display! I love it!

SilverLining17 · 04/07/2017 12:16

Here he is.
My mum laughed for quite a long time. That didn't make me feel any better.

Perhaps wine and a kestrel is the best way forwards?

Hang a little mini bottle of booze off it like a feathered evil Saint Bernard and I think you'll have won teacher gifts for evermore...

AtHomeDadGlos · 04/07/2017 12:17

That's brilliant. I'd love that if I was your ds' teacher. Would be in the classroom.

I was given lovely, handmade, bunting one year with my surname Mr xxxx. Was pinning it up the next Sept ready for my new class when the Head told me to take it down as we were now a 'first names' school. Such a shame. The parent was disappointed, as the sibling was in my new class, and they all continued to call me Mr xxxx as they were used to it.
