To have bought ds's teacher a giant kestrel?

I mean at least she won't get a duplicate and it make a change from 'best teacher' mugs?!

Asked ds what she liked - gardening apparently. DS's class is kestrel class so aha I thought. A little kestrel ornament for the garden. Except it is not little. No no. It is a gigantic genetically modified kestrel. Maybe she can put it at the bottom of the garden so it looks smaller?!

Brilliant!
It's about one and a half times the size of the real thing. Grin

ShmooBooMoo · 04/07/2017 12:19

He def needs a hat like this! i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/02276/3246293_2276477b.jpg

SilverLining17 · 04/07/2017 12:21

Is it wrong that I do want the hat for him?

He's like a kestrel that's eaten all the smaller lesser kestrels.

That's horrendous and hilarious. Someone once gave me a large metal chicken for my yard, it was equally awful. They say it's the thought but, as DH says, what the fuck were they thinking? I kept it as a 'conversation piece' for a while but luckily sadly it didn't survive a house move.
You owe it to us to give it to her, so you can report back on her struggles to keep a straight face before assuring her she doesn't have to keep it and then get your money back from wherever you ordered it.

Whitney168 · 04/07/2017 12:22

He looks horrific in first pic, but given the tie-in and the later pic I think that's fab.

Orangecake123 · 04/07/2017 12:22

This is fab!

Longdistance · 04/07/2017 12:22

I think it's a brilliant gift.

BitOutOfPractice · 04/07/2017 12:22

He's definitely doing a MN head tilt isn't he?

I think she'll love him. Seriously. Really. I mean that. Grin

Whatsername17 · 04/07/2017 12:22

She will love it. Dh's class are Frogs and he gets all kinds of Frog stuff that he displays in his classroom.

IamaBluebird · 04/07/2017 12:23

I think he's lovely Grin

ShmooBooMoo · 04/07/2017 12:24

LongLostCherub How can you think he's horrendous? He's bloody gorgeous! The kids would love it!
Silver You definintely have to get him the hat now Grin

SilverLining17 · 04/07/2017 12:24

'Thanks so much for all the help you've given ds. Here is a horrific kestrel as a token of our appreciation'

I definitely need to get the hat. I think that hat will improve things a lot.

Vereesa · 04/07/2017 12:25

Definitely get a hat for him!

blueskyinmarch · 04/07/2017 12:25

That is a bloody genius teacher gift. She will love it.

SasBel · 04/07/2017 12:25

Fantastic! DH is wondering what I am laughing at, so I showed him the thread, he says it is not that funny.
Should I LTB? Grin

Great gift, agree with pp, send it in with wine.

SilverLining17 · 04/07/2017 12:25

Where would sell an outsize kestrel school teacher hat? It seems niche.

OP posts:
Rubyslippers7780 · 04/07/2017 12:26

Was it for sale on a facebook page??

FreakinScaryCaaw · 04/07/2017 12:27

He's lovely

SilverLining17 · 04/07/2017 12:27

Ha ha does it have that look about it?!

No it was from a gardening place that has many ornaments. There wasn't much choice in kestrel ornaments - I know - surprising isn't it??

I'm a teacher. I would love this and the thought going into it. He would definitely become the class mascot. I would find it hilarious if he had a hat on.

RaspberryBeretHoopla · 04/07/2017 12:28

He is giving it that beady side eye, isn't he?

I'd keep an eye on him if I was a kid in primary school.

whippetwoman · 04/07/2017 12:28

I LOVE it! Do they do a buzzard?

DP and I are always sending eachother pictures of big wooden horses heads from National Trust shops that cost £150 because we are so amused/bemused by them. A kestrel is a cut above though.

RainyDayBear · 04/07/2017 12:28

Love it! Send it with a jokey note and a bottle of wine and it's perfect!!

LongLostCherub · 04/07/2017 12:28

Shmoo Actually he's kinda growing on me now. I think I'd much rather have him than the giant chicken - still horrendous but, you're right, in a gorgeous kinda way.

ShmooBooMoo · 04/07/2017 12:29

Wonder if this would fit, Silver?

www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Childrens-Graduation-Gown-Accessories-Hat-Cap-Satin-with-tassels-10-colours-/160975397968?_trksid=p2385738.m2548.l4275

Maybe measure his bonce and ask the seller?

Hey, Ebay seller. How big are your hats? I wish to buy one forthwith for my kestrel... Grin
