To have bought ds's teacher a giant kestrel?

I mean at least she won't get a duplicate and it make a change from 'best teacher' mugs?!

Asked ds what she liked - gardening apparently. DS's class is kestrel class so aha I thought. A little kestrel ornament for the garden. Except it is not little. No no. It is a gigantic genetically modified kestrel. Maybe she can put it at the bottom of the garden so it looks smaller?!

Love it...and it could have different outfits for each occassion - Christmas Jumper, Pumpkin, Mortar Board for OFSTED...

lolalola19 · 05/07/2017 18:34

That is amazing - where is it from?

Doesitgoto11 · 05/07/2017 18:40

Omg. PLEASE let this become part of 'Classics' Grin

My mum is a retired teacher and she'd have loved a Kenneth 😂

MrsHathaway · 05/07/2017 18:44

I think he should be trained to glare irascibly at Ofsted inspectors.

I am howling at this thread. Sir Kittering Windfucker (obviously correctly addressed as Sir Kit which sounds like "suck it" for added snort) will be such a favourite with the new kestrels. I'm jel actually because DCs' school is single-form entry so the classes are called, erm, Year Four, etc. I think there's something delightfully whimsical about nature names for children's classes.

Actually I remember DC1 being in the Ladybird room at nursery. Naaaaaawwwh.

I think it's an excellent gift and the alternative you considered is not nearly enigmatic enough. She might have thought you meant it.

Teachers all over the country petitioning SLT to rename the classes "gin" "merlot" "prosecco" etc to make Christmas more fun.

Goldiloz · 05/07/2017 18:47

My husband and I are both teachers and we love it. I hate getting shit wine that I have to try and palm off on people at parties. One kid gave me Lambrini one year. The kestrel is good!

MavisFlumpTheFairy · 05/07/2017 18:50

Will it be an avian version of the 'Elf on the shelf'?
It's definitely got a baleful glare......

arrrggghhhhhhh · 05/07/2017 18:52

Awesome!

I'd have loved this as a present!

All I have ever got that was memorable was a can of lager and a couple of cheap snow globes.

(It was Heineken though)

Grin Grin Grin

This thread just keeps giving.

arrrggghhhhhhh · 05/07/2017 18:54

I was in a school once that had sea side creatures.

I can list them as that would be outing.

Such a present would have been slimy and smelly for me.

arrrggghhhhhhh · 05/07/2017 18:54

*cant

arrrggghhhhhhh · 05/07/2017 18:54

Ffs.

MumBod · 05/07/2017 19:00

You're going to have to call him Keith.

MsJudgemental · 05/07/2017 19:10

Are you in the West Country?

SilverLining17 · 05/07/2017 20:22

Nope. Not West Country.

However KoD is proving useful. He eyed ds this morning round the bedroom door when he wouldn't get up and he pecked dh for putting a dirty plate in a clean dishwasher that needed emptying.

He's just threatening enough with a slight undertone of judgementalness.

I think it's awesome SilverLining, great idea

belgina · 05/07/2017 20:44

Now I am wondering if you are local to me, because my dd2 is in Kestrels and will be in Kestrels again next year...
But I do think it is a great present. I will now be on the lookout on the last day of term. Grin

SingaSong12 · 05/07/2017 20:45

I think TKoD is an excellent present.

Jellypudmum · 05/07/2017 21:04

I love this. Wish my pupils would be so original!

Stargirl82 · 05/07/2017 21:13

I'm giraffes class this year and next, maybe I should start dropping hints!!

SilverLining17 · 05/07/2017 21:24

Imagine a giraffe that was twice as big as an actual giraffe.

He's wonderful Silver. How can teacher possibly not love him?

That origami hat looks very complicated. might be easier if your crafting skills are nearer to my level!

PacificDogwod · 05/07/2017 21:48

He is marvellous!

I am not a teacher, but I want one
