And any other Harry Potter mysteries!

Can anyone answer mine?
Is Voldemort a virgin?
What happened to Rodolphus Lestrange?
Why do some spells take weeks and hours of homework to learn, yet Harry can imperious people by just saying it?

Anyone else? I've got more, can't think just now. Just finished re-reading!

glenthebattleostrich how very dare you!? Angry Angry Angry

Seriously, though, I think Snape is a better candidate to have died a virgin, pining with love for Lily. instead of shagging me as he ought

Snape knew the plan from Dumbledore (portrait) he imperioused Mundungus to give the idea of 7 Potters. Snape had to know the date or it would look like he wasn't loyal to Voldemort. He claimed to still have sources within the OotP

Yes but it makes no SENSE I tell you! WHO was his source supposed to be? As Voldemort would have had to have trusted the source, without doubting Snape. So 'Dumbledore told me' wouldn't cut it as as far as Voldemort was concerned Snape had betrayed and murdered D, so why would he tell him anything?

And don't get me started on the Elder Wand 'it knows I disarmed another wand off Malfoy' crap.

Harry learns spells quicker and without study because he's a, harbouring a part of a very powerful dark wizard inside him (oh er missus) and b, he's the master of the Elder Wand.

YKW was most certainly a virgin I think, he had no connection to others be that physical or emotional.

Why did they not use the time turner to go and slip Mr V a condom to stop all the nasty and killing?!

No way would Voldemort have sex with anyone. It would involve a moment of vulnerability. And it involves being close (even if only physically, not emotionally) to somebody. I just can't see it.

Bellatrix was desperate for it with Voldy though Sad

You forget that Snape was a skilled legilimens so could have got the info that way which would have satisfied Voldemort. Mundungus was definitely a weak link in the Order so not unreasonable to assume that is who Snape claimed as the source.

Riddle cares about power above all things, and I bet growing up in Slytherin as an apparent muggleborn only sharpened his impulses. I think that during his late teens and early adulthood it would have been very important to him to have pureblooded women (especially any that might have looked down on him as a first year muggleborn in Hogwarts) falling at his feet.

Say the name tits. Fear of a name increases fear of the thing itself Flowers Grin

Goodness only knows.
And why did Hermione, a third year student, get one just for non exam lessons?? And why did no one notice!??

Also, why didn't Harry just use the Floo Powder to travel to 12, Grimmauld Place to check for Sirius instead of shouting a lot and getting Kreacher? I know there was a risk that he would be caught coming back, but really...

hmmm I'm leaning towards the asexual theory.

When reading the books, does anyone else picture Ian McKellen as a far superior and more accurate Dumbledore?

How would he find a 'pure-born' prostitute? Surely anyone that was a witch would not need to sell their body to survive?

Harry can use the Unforgivable Curses without training as he is harbouring a part of Voldys soul remember. So inside him is already part evil and capable of those spells.

I love this thread. It might be my favourite ever on mn.

I don't think voldy was a Virgin, and agree with pp who said he's probably a purveyor of pure blood prostitutes. Who he probably imperioused. I think Bellatrix was just obsessed with him. And gagging for it after all that time in Azkaban.

I have never had to go back and auto correct so much, my tablet is clearly not a fan of HP or the dark arts.

Accio wine!

Oh I've remembered the biggie.

THERE ARENT ENOUGH MAGIC PEOPLE.

There are about 40 children in each year. Yet there are always 'hundreds' of pupils in the great hall, and any number of young adults working in the MoM, various shops etc. that no one seems to know (example - the young witch assistant in Weasleys Wizard Wheezes). Surely all wizards would know each other, as they all went to the same school?

And at events such as the Quidditch World Cup, there are loads and loads of unknowns.

BUT THERE JUST ARENT ENOUGH PEOPLE.

The Weasleys are pureblooded and can't afford new wands for their children.

They smashed all the time turners. And also they go back one hour at a time. How could you accurately go back to the 1940s when he was conceived?

I just asked dh about he who shall not be named and he said he is deffo a Virgin, because he thought he was above them all.

Well she always says she's terrible at maths Grin

One explanation given is that Harry's year is particularly small due to whatever the opposite of a baby boom is in the Wizarding world.
