Is Voldemort a virgin?

OhShutUpThomas · 21/02/2016 21:07

And any other Harry Potter mysteries!

Can anyone answer mine?
Is Voldemort a virgin?
What happened to Rodolphus Lestrange?
Why do some spells take weeks and hours of homework to learn, yet Harry can imperious people by just saying it?

Anyone else? I've got more, can't think just now. Just finished re-reading!

I thought Ginny introduced them? She does in the book. It's just the film that they make it up and change bits.

scandichick · 01/03/2016 20:59

But Luna lives near the Weasley if I recall correctly, so it's odd that Ron never met her - especially as Luna and her father are invited to Bill's wedding. Maybe they withdrew from society at her mother's death? clutching at straws

MrsHathaway · 01/03/2016 21:10

That's what I mean - how could Ginny know her and Ron not, given our earlier conversation about home schooling networks and so on?

WonderingAspie · 01/03/2016 21:23

Ginny knows her because they are in the same year. She says it in the book when they are on the train. She never says she knew her because they lived near each other.

Diagon Alley is mine and DD's favourite street name ever. As you were.

This explains it! www.cracked.com/article_19397_the-5-most-depraved-sex-scenes-implied-by-harry-potter_p5.html Captions under the pictures are quite amusing.

I'm seeing the Cursed Child on the final preview weekend before the official opening, so pleased I'll see it before the book comes out as I have no restraint where HP is concerned!

TheBalefulGroke · 08/03/2016 21:16

I always thought what happened in the cave with the orphanage children was torture/attempted murder, not sexual tbh.
Though I assumed Umbridge was mistreated by the centaurs, from first reading.

Fiderer · 17/03/2016 11:28

I watched PS last night again with my daughter. We were discussing how at the end, when Harry's in the hospital wing, Dumbledore told him, "What happened with you and Prof Q is a secret so naturally everyone knows about it."

But they couldn't have been told Quirrell had V in his turban - there's loads of "He's not back" denial in the following books. Even a "He was here but now he's floated off" would have caused an uproar.

Maybe they were told about the PS and how Q wanted to steal it but Harry saved it.

chickenowner · 24/04/2016 01:40

Bellatrix...

Also, I'm sure he could MAKE people do all sorts of things...

dillydotty · 24/04/2016 16:18

LV would have definitely been into twisted s & m, killing the women as he finishes . That way he still has total control. Like Joffery in the Game of Thrones.

Ninjagogo · 24/04/2016 17:22

How come I have only just found this thread?!! Wonderful!

WellErrr · 14/06/2016 10:31

Thought this needed a bump!

Poppyred85 · 03/08/2016 15:19

Love this thread! Have joined Pottermore and a bit disappointed to find I'm a Hufflepuff (something of a geek in RL so always thought I'd be Ravenclaw) although DH and I call each other "badger" for a reason neither of us can remember now so maybe the sorting hat does know Wink

FOFONAR · 04/08/2016 20:01

Love this thread, spent a nice afternoon in the garden reading while the Dc looked after themselves played.

My question is why go to all the effort of making the triwizard trophy a port key? Why not an ordinary object? Surely changing Harry's soap or equivalent would have been easier, off he goes for a shower and poof off he goes to the graveyard unarmed and unclothed.

Secondly, how do you obtain a house elf in the first place?

The centaur revelation is a shock to me and quite sickening despite how much I despise Umbridge.

PineappleInaPalmTree · 04/08/2016 20:06

I won't spoil this for those who haven't read Cursed Child yet...but NOOOOOOO! JK, what were you thinking? Ridiculous plot twist and so unrealistic!
It could never have happened!

LadyMumble · 04/08/2016 23:17

Pineapple I thought of this thread as soon as I read it! Gave me the giggles.

thetoothfairywhoforgot · 05/08/2016 10:46

Loving this thread - particularly after the new book.

I just learned that Patronus was a real word - meaning protector in latin.

I wonder if JK read this thread and giggled.

RaeSkywalker · 05/08/2016 17:50

Excellent work folks- what a brilliant thread!

Most of my questions have already been asked on here, so I won't repeat them (what did happen in that cave though?!)

Sickened by the Umbridge revelation.

As to the question posed by the title- DH and I are split on this- I think he's not (would've been sleeping around at school, capable of charming people, uses people to get what he wants). DH thinks that the idea of Voldy sex is ridiculous.

harrypotternerd · 15/12/2016 05:47

This thread is bloody brilliant...I can't believe I have only just found it. As for your first question well read cursed child.

Love this thread.

With regards to unforgivables I imagine you could probably kill someone with any number of other spells, such a misplaced engorgio or a badly aimed reducto, or say 'accio spine'?. In the same way that household objects are dangerous if used wrong.
(also stuff like sceptumsempurua - not cool Snape)
But AK is the only one that stone cold kills with no other applications so maybe that's why it is bad?

I really want to know what the unspeakables get up to. How do they get recruited?

‘Accio spine’

Oh my days how did I miss that 🤣

I’m waiting for the RAC when I should be out for a nice dinner. Reading Classics and came across this thread, I’d forgotten all about it.

10 years later and by coincidence I’m now reading HP to my children who were a variety of toddlers and fetuses when I wrote this.

And still pondering the same questions!

On another note…we’re on Order of the Phoenix now, and I’ve abridged it with a pencil.
Huge swathes of Grimmauld Place cleaning, teen moodiness, dreams, Cho Chang and Occlumency all gone.

Sorry JK if you’re reading! Just can’t wait to get onto HBP.

It's all part of the world building though.

As well as exploring the relationships between the characters. Like how Molly sees Harry as family etc.

HBP is incredibly similar to COS... It's odd, it's almost like HBP was actually supposed to be the second book or something.
