Hi

this is my first post but have lurked for sometime. My 3yo DS has lost his favourite stuffed dog tonight in Blackpool and I am putting a plea out there if anyone can help me! Its a very tatty looking, sorry well loved(!) dog and we dropped it near the south pier about 7pm-long search but no joy. I am devastated and feel so sorry for him-he sobbed all the way home-as did I. I hope someone can help us.

Any suggestions how we can make him feel better tomorrow? Thinking build a bear and obviously lots of hugs but if you have been in a similar situation any ideas are more than welcome.

Many thanks in advance
Balletpump

ps-if you saw me sobbing on Blackpool front and stopped to help thank you as well x

celebmum · 05/11/2011 20:30

Yippe! id read this thread out to DH when it was first posted and we've been popping back into to see how the search was going!!

Lovely news! SmileSmileSmile

MrsKwazii · 05/11/2011 21:12

Ah, this thread is lovely. So glad you've found a replacement BalletPump and all of you toy-searching and postcarding MNers are fab Grin.

KickArseQueen · 05/11/2011 22:26

WoopWoop!!!! Fab news! glad you won him. Can I suggest that you find another one too? A back up spare doggy, that you can rotate with the round the world trip doggy every time he needs washing?

Oakmaiden, :)

Hi Chippingin! :)

ChippingInAutumnLover · 05/11/2011 22:29

Hi KickArse :)

MrsVWoolf - do not confess, never, ever, confess...

Hi
A mumsnet classic- bloody hell! Huge thank you again to every Person who wrote or lurked on this thread. Had about a dozen postcards so far and think there are lots to come. DS is loving them and we keeping talking about how "refreshed" he will look after his holiday. I also hope that whoever has our original is looking after him- he was a very well loved dog.
It's Mr BP birthday in a couple of weeks and we are planning his return then- along with little suitcase and sun glasses!! We live in hope that the original will one day come home though- woody style rather than Lotso!
I know I have said this before but mumsnet it's awesome- full of lovely, kind people who just want to help and this thread is a testament of that. We might not agree on how we parent but we all have our children's welfare as our main motivation. Will let you know about his return.
Thank you again and I hope I can help every one of you at some point over my mumsnet time xxxx
If I can figure it out, will put some photos on my profile when he returns.
Sorry, final point! I often feel like a rubbish parent and I have taken any positive messages about this as a real compliment. Oh and honey dragon rocks!! X

How did you lurk and not post?? I managed for about ... ummm... 5 minutes!! Grin

Surely from lurking you have learnt you are not a rubbish parent!?!

Clearly you need to be a regular poster now so we can reassure you that you are not a rubbish parent and you can join in with all kinds of interesting conversations that have absolutely nothing to do with parenting Grin

lettinggo · 05/11/2011 23:53

Balletpump, regarding your comment about feeling like a crappy parent (and who doesn't feel that way at times?)...

One time when I was about 6 or 7, my family were going on holidays which involved a 5 hour car journey. About 2 hours into the journey, I realised I'd left my doggy at home. My dad (who was usually my hero and I was his total pet) wanted to keep driving, my mam (who was the tough one, who I clashed with loads growing up) insisted he turn the car around and go home and get it. I'll never forget my mam for that. Another time, I was in girl guides and we were going camping. At 12, I knew I was too old to have a doggy going to bed and was very anxious about being teased so my mam sewed my doggy into a pillow case so I could hide him. These are the things we remember when we grow up, not the fights about clearing your plate etc.

I was telling my mam about this thread and your huge efforts to get your ds's doggy back. FWIW, she thinks you're a great mum too!

giraffesCantDookForApples · 06/11/2011 00:36

great thread!

Thumbwitch · 06/11/2011 02:20

Wow, balletpump - that's not bad for a lurker's first thread - over 350 posts and a Mumsnet Classic!
Pretty good :) - have some celebratory Thanks and Wine

Of course you're a good mum - and lettinggo, your mum sounds fab too :)

fraktious · 06/11/2011 03:56

Aw you're a wonderful mother!

I now plan to spend my day off scouring toy shops for copies of flopsy bunny, persuading MIL to get duplicate doudous and stocking up on DS's blankets. He sleeps with all 3 at 6mo so I'm not sure which he's attached to yet.

I would have offered a postcard but it all seems resolved now Smile I'm so pleased your DS is happy with his postcards. There should be an MN lost toy travel agency where posters can request cards from lost toys.

Honeydragon · 06/11/2011 08:22

Blush....I'm really not that good, you did the hard but, reassuring Ds that his friend would return.

MigratingCoconuts · 06/11/2011 08:48

yey! it made classics!!!!!

Great news about the postcards, this is such a positive thread Smile

Eggrules · 06/11/2011 09:09

yellowflowers · 06/11/2011 17:33

Tonksforthememories · 10/11/2011 09:49

I've lurked for a while, and just wanted to say i hope it all goes well with the 'return'!

Because of this thread I've just bought a replacement for DS' bear, Koda, in case this happens to us! :o

chocolateyclur · 10/11/2011 13:39

Hope the "reunion" is going well Grin

HippyHippopotamus · 10/11/2011 20:49

Proudnscary · 11/11/2011 14:17
