Hi

this is my first post but have lurked for sometime. My 3yo DS has lost his favourite stuffed dog tonight in Blackpool and I am putting a plea out there if anyone can help me! Its a very tatty looking, sorry well loved(!) dog and we dropped it near the south pier about 7pm-long search but no joy. I am devastated and feel so sorry for him-he sobbed all the way home-as did I. I hope someone can help us.

Any suggestions how we can make him feel better tomorrow? Thinking build a bear and obviously lots of hugs but if you have been in a similar situation any ideas are more than welcome.

Many thanks in advance
Balletpump

ps-if you saw me sobbing on Blackpool front and stopped to help thank you as well x

There should be a national centre for lost teddies.

Bit like a big pets rehoming centre where they could go and wait to be found by their owners for a couple of weeks before being humanely recycled.

What about microchipping the very special ones. Smile

my cat (the live variety) has his own email address, which is on his tag in case he ever goes missing.

i've been inspired now to do the same for DD's 'babies', and am labelling each of them with it.

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 31/10/2011 22:31

Serin - I'll start one!

I'm having childcare nightmares difficulties atm and am looking for a job that would fit around school hours!

Hungrydragon · 31/10/2011 22:44

radiohelen, this saturday

serin · 31/10/2011 23:11

Iwishiwasmoreorganised! If I was more organised I would do it myself!

However DH has just found a problem with proposed lost teds centre, he doesn't think finders would bother to post found teddies on. Better to put a tel contact number on ted then finder could just tel owner and sort something out.

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 31/10/2011 23:37

Tll your DH that he's just shatted my dreams! I thought we might have been onto something there!!

Ozziegirly · 31/10/2011 23:52

I'd be happy to send your DS a postcard from doggy from sunny Sydney.....

KickArseQueen · 01/11/2011 02:47

Good luck OP, hope you get the right one!!!

Iwish, what about those metal key fobs that have an address on them, postage paid and a code that relates to you, do you know the ones I mean credit card companies used to push them? ( www.easycare.com/OtherCoverage/KeyCare.aspx like this.) All someone finding the toy would have to do was stuff it in a postbox! When it arrived at headquarters ( your house!) you could just look up the code and call the frantic parent, pop the toy in the post and bobs your uncle it would be back it its owners arms in no time! If you go for it, I really need a job!!! :)

Aw, this is one of the sweetest threads I've ever seen. I could send a postcard from New York if you like?

Just reminded of finding a Peter Rabbit face down drowning in a puddle. We fished him out & left him sitting on the wall. I hope he was found.

My little brother left his blanket on Great Blasket Island at some point along a 3 hr walk. Only discovered when we got back to the mainland. My mum took the ferry back again & did the whole walk again trying to find it.

Good luck Balletpump family...

Thumbwitch · 01/11/2011 06:05

Just marking my place to know if you get the dog back, or win the ebay or both!

Also could send a postcard from Australia if you want?

nooka · 01/11/2011 06:24

Oh I do hope this works out for you! My poor dd left her very much loved Sleeping Baby somewhere in Chicago. Se was incredibly upset (she was just turned eight, but Sleeping Baby had been her constant companion for many years). We told her that she had gone to join Obama (he was doing a big speech in Chicago that week having just won the election). It worked for a little bit, but she still talks with great sadness about her doll, and none of the replacements have ever held the same place in her heart.

I once found a tiny little grubby teddy on the floor. It was when I had just started caring for my DS2 who came to us a tiny little scrap, all confused and rootless. I hadnt slept properly for weeks and I was a bit over emotional. I saw this little teddy and it made me think of my DS. (told you I was over emotional)

I picked him up and took him home and still have him.

So if anyone lost a teeeny teddy in N7 8 and a half years ago I have him and he is safe.

thefirstMrsDeVeerie · 01/11/2011 08:01

I can only offer a postcard from East London I am afraid Grin

Mouseface · 01/11/2011 10:43

Mouseface · 02/11/2011 14:47

balletpump · 02/11/2011 17:06

Hi everyone
Just a quickie while making tea. A postcard arrived today from Vienna and to DS was excited is an understatement- currently walking round with it and I have read it 20 times to him!
I know I keep saying this but your kindness is overwhelming and we are very grateful to everyone- huge huge thank you you are making a little boys day- and mine!
Roll on saturday when hopefully this will be half sorted- sleepless night on Friday I think!
Love balletpump
X

Told you it'd get there before mine! Hopefully mine will be with you soon. It went yesterday I think.

Just a boring one from London though. Not a fancy one from abroad Sad

Mouseface · 02/11/2011 17:42

Really Kate, you'd have thought that you could have done a little better, given who you are and all. Wink

KatieMiddIeton · 02/11/2011 17:44

I did put a paw print on the corner. In felt tip. One does one's best Grin

Just come across this thread. I would be glad to send you a postcard from Northern Ireland.

Really hope you get a replacement. This is not trivial at all.

Fishpond · 02/11/2011 18:49

Wait, wait - did they say he's a Walmart doggie?

I live in America and would be MORE than happy to ship you one if someone can identify him? I have 2 walmarts in my town (feel chuffed Grin)
