Hi

this is my first post but have lurked for sometime. My 3yo DS has lost his favourite stuffed dog tonight in Blackpool and I am putting a plea out there if anyone can help me! Its a very tatty looking, sorry well loved(!) dog and we dropped it near the south pier about 7pm-long search but no joy. I am devastated and feel so sorry for him-he sobbed all the way home-as did I. I hope someone can help us.

Any suggestions how we can make him feel better tomorrow? Thinking build a bear and obviously lots of hugs but if you have been in a similar situation any ideas are more than welcome.

Many thanks in advance
Balletpump

ps-if you saw me sobbing on Blackpool front and stopped to help thank you as well x

Have not read whole thread so forgive me if it is all sorted out now but I think the dog is called floppy elmore, he is from Asda, and there is one on ebay now.

lampli · 03/11/2011 12:05

The brand is "the cuddle crew"

Honeydragon · 03/11/2011 12:17

Its the closest one, but the nose on original dog is different.

lampli · 03/11/2011 12:21

Yes, just seen the nose is wider and there is no patch on the eye. Sorry Sad

yellowflowers · 03/11/2011 19:12

We are off to Blackpool this weekend. I will keep eyes peeled. Where roughly do you think it was lost?

Macdog · 03/11/2011 19:58

Fingers crossed for a happy ending Smile

balletpump · 03/11/2011 21:01

Hi everyone
thank you thank you thank you!!!!
just a quickie! three postcards arrived today-DS is beyond excited!! From London, Padstow and Oz-he was so happy and pulls his bashful face Smile
I just bloody hope this ebay bid pays off on saturday or god only know what we are going to do Confused
Thanks again for messages and all the online snooping at dogs-am sure someone, somewhere must be wondering why there is a surge on stuffed dog searches!
Yellowflowers-he was dropped just outside the south pier and we were heading back towards the tower-literally just outside(just bought hot chocolates, donuts and icecream-please don't judge me, all that sea air made us hungry!!!!!) So much appreciated if you can have a quick scan round for him.
Also just a very quick public thanks to honeydragon, who, more than anyone knows, exactly what this dog looks like and feels like my eyes and ears when I can't get on!!
Mouse-I think if you bid that might give Mr BP a heart attack-the poor soul is on the brink as it is!!!! Will let you if we need bidding back up tomorrow. Earlier someone suggested sending the link to seller and we did but sadly this did not work so we are poised for 7.05am sat morning!!!!! Just wondering if we win, would be too early to partake in Wine purely to celebrate part one of operation reunite DS with Dog?!

Will look out for it. I was wondering - could you get one without eye patch and say it had had it removed while on holiday? A doggy cosmetic surgery mini break?

yellowflowers · 03/11/2011 23:58

Also I may have missed this as there are so many posts but where did you get it? Was it a present? Can you ask them?

Thumbwitch · 04/11/2011 00:19

ooo balletpump - one through from Oz already? that's great! You should get mine (pelicans) early next week :)

Fishpond · 04/11/2011 00:25

Mine won't be through til next week either but will be a big hello from middle America Smile

lettinggo · 04/11/2011 01:00

I'm 41 and still have my "doggy" (never had a name, he's always been Doogy) and it's in bed with me every night. Even now I'd be just gutted if anything happened him. As a surprise for my 30th birthday, DH sent him to the teddy bear hospital to hav a makeover- the nicest thing he's ever done, especially since he calls my doggy "that fucking thing".

Your poor little ds, but how lucky is he that he has a mum and dad who get how important his doggy is to him. This will be a great story to tell on his wedding day. I have everything crossed for you that you win your ebay auction.

FairPhyllis · 04/11/2011 06:27

I like thinking what a good story this will be in the future as well. Card on the way from New York.

SquirtedPerfumeUpNoseInBoots · 04/11/2011 20:00

Postcard sent from northern Ireland. Fingers crossed for eBay. Keep us posted.

fluffystabby · 04/11/2011 20:05

OMG I am sniffling here.

Wonder how many MNetters will be watching on Sat morning at 7.05am?

balletpump · 04/11/2011 21:16

hi
one week on and back again! Right the bid is on, so a long night ahead.
More postcards again today and DS is loving them and having them read to him a million times. Nursery are going to use it as a project as well-only if he comes back after his holiday/spa break/plastic surgery absence!
I can't believe how much this story has captured people-kindness has been just gorgeous and hello and thank you to all of you! Thanks Right where's the wine and chocolate?!

skinnymuffin · 04/11/2011 22:24

Oh I'm so excited / nervous for you now!

Good luck in the bid! :)

Thumbwitch · 04/11/2011 22:38

oooh, everything crossed for you that you get him! hope you are using one of the sniper programs to be on the safe side. :)

TartyMcFarty · 04/11/2011 22:59

What a great thread! Wish I had done the same when DD lost her precious Bunny-no-legs at Sainsbury's a few weeks ago (knew it would happen - see pics on my profile!) As it turned out, DSM phoned the day after and mentioned that she'd finally found and bought two more exactly the same in a shop I'd already been to twice!

Wish Sainsbury's could have been more helpful though - when I asked if staff could keep an eye out I was told 'it doesn't work like that'. The original never turned up Sad

Hope your bid wins!

balletpump · 04/11/2011 23:13

It doesn't work like that???? Boo hiss to sainsburys!!!!! Thats rubbish.
Thanks for your message tarty!
Roll on 7.05am

You know you are going to have to print this thread and keep it along with the post cards for ds when he is a lot older.

I left my beloved plastic ET doll at my Grandparents house and was devastated. I still have the letter from my Granda written by ET telling me what a lovely time he was having and that he would be home with me soon.

I should imagine that a thread like this and all those postcards will be a lovely reminder for your ds when he is a man of how very much he is loved Smile

chocolateyclur · 04/11/2011 23:23

Fingers crossed for the morning!

balletpump · 05/11/2011 07:16

Hi! Guess who won the bid!!!!!!!!
The relief!!!!!
Now all we have to do is hope he doesn't get lost in the post and plan his Bobby Ewing style return!
