Hello, I am just looking for any advice (preferably from NHS experience) as I know no one who has gone through this to ask.

I am 9 1/2 weeks pregnant, had a private scan yesterday which confirmed heart stopped at 6+4. I had a gut feeling (hence the scan) I can’t explain why as I still have all my symptoms.

I rang my local unit and went today for a scan who again confirmed the same as the private scan but are making us go back in 14 days for a re scan before I can have any medical management.

it just feels cruel and I have so many worries.
Will it happen naturally when it stopped so long ago?
can I end up with an infection with it just left there?
Will the NHS offer surgical management over tablets?

I just feel tortured

thank you to anyone who has read this!

@Armdjm I haven't been trying, so who knows?

It's definitely a big shift in hormones so I'm not surprised! I'm getting really bad back acne 🙄🙄 not good in summer 🤣🤣

I got pulled in for a sickness review today at work. I've hit a trigger for 3 absences in 6 months 😅😅 I'm fuming because two of the absences have been for the miscarriages! One for the first procedure and the second one for when I had go go back when they realised the sac and fetal pole where still there. I've read my works sickness policy and it states that pregnancy related illnesses should be discounted from the absence triggers. I'm going to give them hell 🤣🤣

Are you back to work? X

Armdjm · 15/08/2024 19:25

@CJHR18 you are joking?? I was told by my manager I would have triggered my stage 1 sickness and to expect a meeting while I was still off but so far nothing! They shouldn’t be classing anything pregnancy related surely??

Im on annual leave this week then back next week! I feel ready to go back now though, although I have enjoyed being off in the sunshine 😂

Well my period has finally returned, 6 weeks to the day I had my op!

Ahh @Armdjm so pleased your wait is over! Hopefully feels like a little bit of closure. I felt like I could move forward a little at that point. Hope the next few days are ok!

Feels weird thinking all the times I was disappointed when I got my period but I'm now impatiently waiting for mine too. Suspect it'll be next week based on ovulation. Glad you got yours @Armdjm and like @Bellebg says I hope you feel you can move forward.

Armdjm · 19/08/2024 16:13

@WildFinch it’s funny isn’t it! Well if my LH test was accurate my period came at 10dpo! Which is very early

That's interesting it was early. Hoping it's not overly heavy as others have said.
My cycle is normally around 32 days, period about 14 days after ovulation I think. I'm just hoping it comes before our holiday in early September 😆

Armdjm · 19/08/2024 17:06

@WildFinch its not too heavy so far! Very crampy though which isn’t normal for me. I mean it’s not horrendous but if I wasn’t running around after my 18 month old I think I’d be on the sofa with a hot water bottle type crampy!

Yes my cycles are similar, 30-34ish days and normally 14 days after ovulation for period! I did get a big LH peak but to be fair 30 mins prior it was low then I just had a suspicion took another and it shot up then by a couple hours later it was low again!

Hi everyone!

just wanted to do a little update to see how you all are??

Confusedmermaid1 · 03/09/2024 13:18

Hi @Armdjm

I’m doing okay thank you! Generally fine but then it creeps up when you least expect it.. had a yearly review with my boss Friday who is aware of my situation and we were discussing further education that I could do and she said it’s up to you if you want to put it down to complete in the next year or we can just leave it for now and I just sobbed which made her cry as well 😅 she was apologising but she literally handled it in the nicest way it’s just ideally I wouldn’t have been doing any formal education because I would have been on maternity I guess
Currently in the TWW which has been more difficult than I expected.. I’m not hopeful but time will tell if AF comes this weekend.

How are things with you?

Armdjm · 03/09/2024 13:21

@Confusedmermaid1 aw I am glad you’re feeling good! I know it’s hard when you think about things like that, I had to put what I wanted to work over Christmas and it hit me that I was going to plan to go off the week of Christmas with annual leave before my maternity started.

Exciting that you are in the TWW. We started to try again then I have applied for a new job so have decided to keep it on hold until I know what happens there as I actually got a bit scared to see a positive test so thought maybe I’m not ready yet!

Please update us though!!

Confusedmermaid1 · 03/09/2024 13:29

@Armdjm I think I’ve rushed back into it to be honest! If it’s negative this cycle I will think about a break because it’s been more difficult than I expected and I suspect I’m not emotionally ready for TTC yet
I’ll definitely post an update either way!

WildFinch · 03/09/2024 15:41

Hi @Armdjm @Confusedmermaid1 glad to hear your updates. I've been lurking on the miscarriage threads but I think it was upsetting me reading about others experiences and what can go wrong. I had what I think was the lightest ever period over the bank holiday. We're TTC this month so I'm back to tracking ovulation which is due this weekend. I'm not sure I'm totally ready but I'm 39 next month so feel I can't wait. Keep me posted on how you're doing.

Confusedmermaid1 · 05/09/2024 13:06

It’s CD1 for me again, mixed emotions.. think I was about 12 dpo which is shorter than my usual cycles but I assume my body is still regulating itself at this point.. not sure what the plan will be this cycle but I’ll just take it as it comes for now. It’s our first wedding anniversary coming up and we are hoping to be away for it so it will be good to have something else to think about!

Good luck this cycle @WildFinch 🤞🏼

TruthUnwinding · 07/09/2024 11:09

Aw, sorry to hear you guys are feeling low too. I have had a rollercoaster of emotions since the MMC, and now I'm having weird symptoms which make me think I could be pregnant again.

How are you guys dealing with your experiences? I have a pregnancy loss specific counsellor from my previous pregnancy loss (TFMR), which has really helped.

Armdjm · 07/09/2024 18:56

@Confusedmermaid1 Sorry your cycle didn’t end with a positive! We have decided to just wing it and see how it goes without tracking anything for a while to take the pressure off but to think if it happens it happens!

@TruthUnwinding have you taken a test? I had such strong symptoms leading up to my last period I honestly thought I must be pregnant because I don’t normally have really any pms symptoms but I think it was just my hormones still being all over!

Hi ladies, so I should have been 11 weeks pregnant yesterday I went for a scan as I had some light pink bleeding when I wiped (nothing heavy) I was told that there was no heartbeat and baby stopped growing about six weeks. The midwife told me to expect heavy blood etc this week, but if not, they'll get me in for another scan next week and give me some tablets to presumably clear everything out. I keep reading though about people having other medical management (MVA etc) and I'm just wondering if anyone has just taken the pills and does it work? What's your experience? I just think it's been nearly 5 weeks already and I've barely had light bleeding. I just can't see my body letting go of everything itself. X

Yes, the test was negative but I also tested too early so I'm going to try again in a few days. That's good to know that you also had some similar feelings, it could be the same for me!

Ooh yes it definitely sounds like you should speak to the midwife. It might be that you need the surgical procedure after all. My pregnancy loss counsellor suggested the general anaesthetic and surgery for me, which made the whole thing less traumatic. I've read a lot on here about the medical management not working for them.

WildFinch · 08/09/2024 09:37

@TruthUnwinding @Armdjm I was exactly the same in the lead up to my period after MVA. Had weird symptoms and did several pregnancy tests. I've been using CB OPKs this month and have had several high fertility days but no peak yet which is also unusual for me. Maybe I won't ovulate this month.
@Moomoo20 I'm sorry you've found yourself here. I had an MVA with general anesthetic (they don't offer a local in my area). After researching the 3 options I knew that's what I wanted as it's likely to be successful. I asked about risk of scar tissue but they said as this was my first one it was very unlikely.

Ah I see, maybe this is just a normal experience after a MMC :(
I guess time will tell for all of us.

Armdjm · 08/09/2024 16:43

@TruthUnwinding so my symptoms were spotting which I never have, never before periods and never had implantation bleeding with my 2 pregnancies. Horrific headaches which I’ve only ever had as early pregnancy symptoms, nausea, again had with both of my pregnancies. Honestly I was so sure I must have been pregnant because I felt exactly like I had with my 2 previous (1 successful 18 month old and the other being my MMC) I was so sure that after my period I tested to just ‘double check’ it wasn’t implantation bleeding! But turned out it must have all been my hormones!

that isn’t to say that won’t be what yours is though! Because that was all the lead up to my 1st period. I’m on my second cycle now and have had ovulation symptoms this weekend although I havnt tracked anything

If this thread is still active, do you mind if I join?

Discovered last week that pregnancy stopped developing at 6 weeks, should have been 10 weeks. Back for a rescan tomorrow to confirm that the pregnancy is non viable (a formality). Then we have to make the decision about medical vs surgical management.

I feel really quite scared about both options, especially as I already had a c section, so not sure how that might affect any possible scarring.

This has been a really hard week, just feeling really emotional and so frustrated and confused that my body hasn't realized for 5 weeks now that my baby has died. I just want to get back to feeling normal again (and to ttc again) but it seems like realistically that's months away.

Oh gosh sorry to hear that, the symptoms sound awful. Fingers crossed for the next ovulation! I'm feeling so nauseous at the moment, can't wait for these next couple of days to be over so I know either way...
