Missed miscarriage

Hello, I am just looking for any advice (preferably from NHS experience) as I know no one who has gone through this to ask.

I am 9 1/2 weeks pregnant, had a private scan yesterday which confirmed heart stopped at 6+4. I had a gut feeling (hence the scan) I can’t explain why as I still have all my symptoms.

I rang my local unit and went today for a scan who again confirmed the same as the private scan but are making us go back in 14 days for a re scan before I can have any medical management.

it just feels cruel and I have so many worries.
Will it happen naturally when it stopped so long ago?
can I end up with an infection with it just left there?
Will the NHS offer surgical management over tablets?

I just feel tortured

thank you to anyone who has read this!

Thanks for your support throughout out this process girls 🤍 Really means a lot to have someone to speak to totally unbiased and who understands what you're going through! Forever greatful!

@Armdjm Same! OPKs for me are kind of all or nothing 🤣🤣 only actually seen 1 positive one. The cycle I concieved. Wow they worked a little to well didn't they! It soo frustrating!

Hope you're doing well xx

WildFinch · 05/08/2024 16:25

Oh my gosh @CJHR18 I think I would have done the same. I hope you're doing ok now?
I'm two weeks tomorrow since the MVA I thought the spotting had stopped yesterday but has come back again today. I'll do another test tomorrow as I'm impatient for my cycle to come back so we can TTC again.

@Armdjm I think I'll do the same with OPKs. I used digital ones for two cycles and conceived on the second one so I'm hopeful.

Here's hoping we all come back with positive news soon. Although then I feel the anxiety spiral will kick in if I do get another BFP.

Armdjm · 07/08/2024 08:21

@WildFinch how are you feeling? Have you tested negative yet? I ended up having to get a digital because I wasn’t sure if I was just seeing a line so I needed it to say the words!

But I’m now just over 4 weeks since my surgery and I have a very positive OPK today! So I’m hoping that’s a good sign that my body isn’t trying to get back into some kind of normal rhythm! So I’m assuming my periods won’t return for another couple weeks so will be like 6 weeks post surgery!

@Armdjm thanks for checking in! Tested negative yesterday two weeks post surgery. Felt good but had a bit of a wobble, good friend let me know she's pregnant with her third, due the same week I was. And it would have been my 12 week scan today. So I've been feeling a bit down about what should have been.
Good news on your OPK! I think I'll start testing next week as well out of curiosity. My cycle was fairly regular before so fingers crossed it gets back to that.

Armdjm · 07/08/2024 11:58

@WildFinch Glad you got your negative, yeah it hit me the day I did. I felt relief that it was over but also a sense of real sadness!
oh it’s so hard isn’t it especially when they are due when you would have been.
Yeah it’s been good to see that I am atleast getting positive in those, I had a feeling my cycles would just not return for months!

I'm checking in too. Had a missed miscarriage and had a surgical procedure 5 weeks tomorrow. My period still isn't here but I'm feeling very pre-menstrual! How is everyone doing emotionally? I think I was in survival mode to get through the physical symptoms for the past 4 weeks but have been feeling quite emotional. Thankfully have an online counselling session later!

Armdjm · 07/08/2024 19:58

@TruthUnwinding Glad to hear you’re getting some counselling support! Yes I’ve been feeling very pre menstrual as well so I think my hormones are probably all over the place with the positive OPK! I feel like my period could come any minute.

Emotionally I’m up and down. I will feel fine then something will set me off. Greys anatomy had a D&C when I was watching it and it hit me so hard I couldn’t watch

@Armdjm omg Greys has killed me off 😅 it’s usually my comfort program, I’ve watched it more times that I care to admit to other people.. I was binging it when I was off work and a few times I cried way way more than I usually would around the pregnancy loss story lines.. it was tough!

Armdjm · 08/08/2024 11:12

@Confusedmermaid1 I know I love it, sometimes I watch it just to have a good cry 😅

How are you feeling?

Oh my gosh! My friend and I do this, we call it a safety cry, like a safety release valve 😆 totally needed sometimes.

CJHR18 · 08/08/2024 20:21

No positive OPKs for me yet! I genuinely don't know when to start tracking from 😅😅 the 4th of July when I went in the first time or 27th July when the pregnancy fully passed. 🙄🙄

I've been all over the place. I feel like I'm there in body but not in mind. I've made a few mistakes at work. I think I've went back too early after my ordeal haha.

Glad to see everyone testing negative x

Armdjm · 08/08/2024 21:15

@CJHR18 its so hard isn’t it! I still havnt gone back because I knew I’d not be fully concentrating. I’m on annual leave next week then go back after that,

I’m not sure if my positive OPK was a fluke and if my hormones will just be all over the place as I keep feeling like a period is coming and my skin is like a teenagers when I never get spots

Safety cry.. such a good term. I do this too! Saves an outburst at Tesco.

Oh gosh, that would have sent me off too. I keep welling up when people ask me "How are you?" XD

I had an initial strong couple of weeks and now I'm weepy again!

Armdjm · 09/08/2024 11:32

@TruthUnwinding I think it’s definitely hormone related I found once I tested negative and the hormones were gone I was very emotional for about a week! I was having such mood swings my husband couldn’t breathe the right way 🙈

@Armdjm I’m okay thank you! Back in work this last week so feel like I’m getting back to ‘normal’. I do think I should have accepted phased return because I was mentally exhausted by the end of the week. So definitely take as much time as you need. Work were great though, all my department just said good to see you back, I was worried about someone asking why but they’re a good bunch.

Haven’t done any Opk testing yet as I had my negative Monday but I might do just to know where I am this cycle, feel like my period could be coming any day anyway or could just be emotional because it’s not exactly been a good month..

How are you doing?

Armdjm · 10/08/2024 12:13

@Confusedmermaid1 Yeah my occ health is ringing me next week when I’m on annual leave but I’m going to decline phased return! I’m going back on nightshifts and you’re not meant to on phased return and I’m looking forward to being out of the way 😂

Yes that’s why I started testing them once I got my negative to see where I was in my cycle, so after that massive peak (biggest peak I’ve ever had 😅) I’m expecting a period in about 12 days so hopefully it’s a sign my cycles will be going back to normal after this one

Oh dear! Mine was definitely hormone related, my period came a day after I last posted. First period since the MMC and it's really heavy.

How is everyone feeling? I'm feeling better now my period has come.

Armdjm · 12/08/2024 17:04

@TruthUnwinding thats good that it has came back! I did wonder if the 1st one would be extra heavy!

Still no period for me, my surgery was 5 weeks ago today. So hoping it’ll be soon!

WildFinch · 12/08/2024 17:31

Hi everyone, I'm away with family this week which has been a lovely break. My OPK was showing high fertility yesterday so I'll probably ovulate soon, period in a couple of weeks if my cycle goes back to how it was before. Mine are usually short but very heavy so not looking forward to it if it's heavier than normal!

Armdjm · 12/08/2024 20:38

@WildFinch aw I’m glad you’re having a good distraction away!

Yes mine have stayed negative since my peak so I think they must have been accurate so my period should return next week! Mine have been heavier since having my little girl but had just started to lighten a bit but think this will have put them back heavy again!

Hi girls. Hope you're all doing OK!

I though the metformin might have regulated my cycle. Thought my peroid had arrived, but only had 3 days of light bleeding! God knows what's going on. The joys of PCOS 😖😖

Armdjm · 14/08/2024 17:23

@CJHR18 Ah no! Could it be implantation? Or are you not trying. I’ve read loads of people having short ‘periods’ which turned out to be implantation 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’m good, still awaiting my first period though! I’ve really struggled since my negative test with hormonal headaches which I don’t normally get but they’ve been awful!
