Hello, I am just looking for any advice (preferably from NHS experience) as I know no one who has gone through this to ask.

I am 9 1/2 weeks pregnant, had a private scan yesterday which confirmed heart stopped at 6+4. I had a gut feeling (hence the scan) I can’t explain why as I still have all my symptoms.

I rang my local unit and went today for a scan who again confirmed the same as the private scan but are making us go back in 14 days for a re scan before I can have any medical management.

it just feels cruel and I have so many worries.
Will it happen naturally when it stopped so long ago?
can I end up with an infection with it just left there?
Will the NHS offer surgical management over tablets?

I just feel tortured

thank you to anyone who has read this!

So sorry to read your news@sparklerr. So sorry for your loss. I hope it all goes as smoothly as possible for you today.💜

GreenForestsAndWhiteSnow · 04/06/2025 07:23

@sparklerr Thinking of you today, I hope it goes smoothly. Like everyone else has said, my surgery was really fast and I got home very quickly afterwards so I hope yours is the same.

sparklerr · 05/06/2025 08:38

Just to update, I had my surgery yesterday and am now home recovering. As others here as said the physical side was so easy. I was woke up thinking they were still putting me asleep!

For anyone else out there looking for information: I went to the hospital at 9 and was given a bed and some tablets. These brought on cramps and bleeding after a couple of hours - for me it was like a normal period. I had to wait a while as they were just trying to squeeze me in when a slot became available, but I had a private area and DH was there the whole time.
The surgery itself I had no idea of. When I came round I had some cramps and they gave me paracetamol, which was enough. Bleeding was less than a period. They observed me for a couple of hours and I was discharged last night and got to wake up at home.

Feeling good this morning, no cramps and minimal bleeding. Ready to rest up for a few days with lots of tea and chocolate 😊 it’s a relief to have the whole process finished and no more uncertainty or waiting.

Thanks for the well wishes @GreenForestsAndWhiteSnow @LovingFawnand @SureLook. I hope your own recoveries (in the more long term sense) are going as well as can be. @LovingFawni hope all goes well with your current pregnancy and you feel well supported! I can’t imagine trying again yet but am sure things will seem different in a few weeks. It’s good to hear there’s hope!

SureLook · 05/06/2025 10:58

@sparklerr I'm so glad to hear it all went well and you're feeling good. I hope you start feeling better soon but for now just sit and be in your feelings. Buy something nice or do something nice for yourself!
Just for a little extra hope I'm also expecting again. I'm 6+3 and hoping for the best 🤞🏻

sparklerr · 05/06/2025 13:52

That’s great news @SureLook!! Hope this one goes well. I’m sure you’re nervous but I’ll be thinking of you and keeping fingers crossed!

SureLook · 11/06/2025 13:51

Hi girls. Unfortunately it was bad news at my scan again this morning. There was just an empty sac with no embryo or yolk sac. They've booked me in again for next week to confirm but I'm gonna ring my EPAU today to see if I can come in to get the ball rolling on the inevitable a bit earlier. I'm feeling more pissed off at the moment then sad. Some slight comfort that at least there wasn't a poor little baby in there this time. It's still so shit though!

Confusedmermaid1 · 11/06/2025 14:37

@SureLook I’m so sorry. It’s just so unfair.
Hope EPU can see you soon and the waiting won’t be too long. Look after yourself x

Armdjm · 11/06/2025 17:05

@SureLook oh im so so sorry! What a cruel world 🥺

KT199 · 11/06/2025 17:14

Oh @SureLook the world feels so cruel at times. I’m sorry you’re going through this, and for a second time. I hope the EPU will see you and help.. have your scan clinic not don’t a referral for you? Or are they airing on the side of your just too early?

SureLook · 11/06/2025 17:45

@KT199 yeah, they're airing on the side of caution. Like the last time, leaving a week between scans to confirm. It was a private clinic. They said they could refer me properly if my sac was measuring 2cm but it was only 1.77cm. She did do me up a report though (which had the scans on it) and said I can contact the EPAU and see what they say. I rang them and they asked me to email in the report and a doctor will look at it over the next day or two, depending on how busy they are. So I'm hoping they'll book me in for a scan next week with them. I don't think there's a point in having another scan with the private clinic to just be referred to the hospital anyway.
I know I'm not too early, they're just being cautious. There won't be a miracle next week!

GreenForestsAndWhiteSnow · 11/06/2025 21:41

@SureLook I’m so, so sorry to hear that. What a horrendous process to go through again. I hope it’s as fast as it can be. Are you being well supported in real life?

SureLook · 11/06/2025 21:54

@GreenForestsAndWhiteSnow yes, thanks. DP is here and the people who knew I was expecting have all been very good. Life can be an asshole sometimes!

sparklerr · 15/06/2025 10:56

@SureLookI’m sorry to hear that you’re going through this again. It just seems so unfair. I just checked in to see how everyone was doing and was so sad to see your posts. Sending you a big hug!

SureLook · 15/06/2025 11:05

@sparklerr thanks for your kind words. I have a follow-up scan with the EPAU on Thursday. Hopefully it'll all be resolved quickly. DP has Covid and I decided to potty training DD so I'm keeping myself busy 😂

@Sunshine8537 @Confusedmermaid1 this is such wonderful news for you both. I also sobbed at my first scan this time with just utter relief. It’s a wonderful feeling

Do you have your baby now? I think we are all happy to hear these more hopeful stories after a MMC! x

Armdjm · 17/06/2025 13:38

@TruthUnwinding Im nearly 34 weeks now so getting there! It’s coming up to a year since my surgery which seems so crazy that I’m going to be 36+ weeks pregnant when that date comes around!

Aw, that is so exciting! Hope your birth goes very smoothly and that your baby is here soon enough. :) I'm on a different path with hormone help from the fertility clinic, so fingers crossed for me too soon. x

Armdjm · 17/06/2025 14:46

The medicine I'm on makes it likely to have multiple pregnancies, so hoping for multiple rainbows 😂

@SureLook how are you x

SureLook · 22/06/2025 20:55

Hi @Sunshine8537 as I suspected I caught Covid so I had to rearrange my scan for Tuesday coming. I thought maybe they might have let me in bang on my appointment time with a mask but I understood the risk. I would have felt too guilty myself in case I infected anyone. Plus I honestly felt too sick to actually go in. It was the worst dose of Covid I've ever had!
Other than that I'm not feeling too bad. Potty training was a success so at least that's something!

TruthUnwinding · 06/08/2025 07:45

I just had my first BFP since this loss, fingers crossed / prayers please guys! x

SureLook · 06/08/2025 07:56
