Ok lady's lets not be shy...You've done the hard part... giving birth and you were not shy then I bet. You know who you are and you know you want to meet up... so why not add your name to this and tell me where about you are, so we can arrange a meet up.

gomez · 19/04/2007 10:05

Snap - are you me? Moved to Edinburgh for Uni, lived there until 2003, left for bigger house and some family support. Aiming to head back in 2 years - DH was resisting but is now resigned - Hee, hee .

nailpolish · 19/04/2007 10:33

wow gomez, thats why i left Edinburgh too

dds are older now, dh still works in Ed (his commute for the past few years has been Scotrail hell) so we are moving back

prices in Ed are not too bad just now, why not just bite the bullet and move now ???

doggiesayswoof · 19/04/2007 14:53

Ooops I'd lost track of this thread. Golly work really gets in the way of mn sometimes...

I'd like to come and bring my dd (2) and possibly dh, although he is not a zoo person. Everyone still up for it?

New list:

Kitty17 + ds (1) + (1&1(dd(2))
Prettybird + ds (6)
Jennylee + ds (7)
Gomez + ds (6.5months) + ?dd1 (7) & ?dd2 (2.11)
Purplemonkeydishwasher + ds (18months) - maybe - but probably not
agalch + dd1(2.5) & dd2 (8months)
InvisiblePinkUnicorn + dd1 (2.11) and dd2 (1) - maybe
Lilliput + dd(4)& ds(2) - maybe
Aimsmum and dd (6) - Maybe/Probably
Babynovice + dd (2.7)
Soph28 + ds (2) & dd (8mo) (but doesn't count towrds potential numbers for a group discount as she is already a member)

PinkMist & ds (19 months)
Doggiesayswoof + dd (2)

prettybird · 19/04/2007 15:31

Gosh Nailpolish, is it 4 years since you moved? I can remember when you were sorting the move out - just shows I spend too much time on Mumsnet!

gomez · 19/04/2007 17:29

NP - I am starting a graduate LLB in the Autumn which takes 2 years and is 10 minutes from my door. Would be daft to move and introduce a commute into that. (Edinburgh didn't accept me - much to my irritation given my 1st degree is from there!) Agree on the prices thou', now is a good time. You lucky sod .

everexpandingtum · 19/04/2007 22:05

hello, I'm new too - both to MN and Edinburgh. I'm not there yet, DP is in Edinburgh already and i move up in 3 weeks when my maternity leave starts. Can't wait! I'll keep my eye out for any meet ups.

hermia · 19/04/2007 23:10

Hi ladies. I'm new to Edinburgh this week and pretty new to MN also. Would love to join you at the zoo and meet some new people. I have a 4.5yr DS and DH might come too. (Thanks for the tip off Nailpolish - and for that link, I got a couple of good ideas from it )

expatinscotland · 19/04/2007 23:20

Am leaving Edinburgh and all its surrounds.

Won't be too near Glasgow, either.

You all have loads of fun!

prettybird · 20/04/2007 10:06

.... so you are just going to remain a woman of mystery!

Good luck with your move.

soph28 · 20/04/2007 10:14

wow there are going to be quite a lot of us! It's next Saturday isn't it? Cool, am looking forward to it.

Right, am off to give my children some attention!

nailpolish · 20/04/2007 10:52

prettybird - i left Ed 4 years ago but ive moved house twice since then now im doing it again - so its probably the second move you remember - about 22 months ago ??

prettybird · 20/04/2007 11:14

You've made me feel slightly better - it probably is the second move I'm thinking about.

But I have been on Mumsnet since 2001!

Everexpandingtum - we look forward to meeting you at future meet-ups!

hermia · 20/04/2007 13:52

Expat - congratulations! I remember last time I was on MN- 6 months ago or so when we thought we were moving any minute- how much you wanted to get out. Still not interested in a 2 bed flat in North London then? Hope all goes well for you but why did you hate Edinburgh... Is there something I should know?? So far we think it's great and keep pinching ourselves.
Look forward to meeting you all on sat week.

I've now todl ds about it, so now I have to come!

If you everyone who says they are coming does turn up then it should be a good turn out. There are also a fair few "naybes" and "probablies" - so it would be nice if they could make it!

Sackache - it owuld be lovely to see you again. if I hadn't actually met you at a couple of meet-ups, I'd say you were a hairy trucker, as yuo've managed tomiss the last few meet-ups! Ds was very disappointed not see your ds again (remember how they both "knew" each other as they "used to both work in Edinburgh" )

Aimsmum - I'll be getting the train across if you are able to make it and want some company!

Aimsmum - my mum is gradually improving. The move to the rehab unit set her back slightly - it was a bit confusing for her. Did you see the coverage in the Herald (lovely photo of her and dad)? She's still very defnintely "not right" - easily confused, irrationally emotional, often can't get the right word out, can only read about a paragraph at a time (this is some with an M.Litt) - but you are now seeing glimpses of "the real Mum".
