Hi @BakerLea I’ve started keto too, on Monday so only on day 3. I am 11st trying to get to 9st. I’m 5’2’’ as well, but with a big frame. Whole of me looking big now though, only time I’ve seen 11st before was in late pregnancy, so I’ve gained a lot in recent years 😭.
I might be going low carb instead of actually Keto, as I can’t reduce my carbs and enjoy life any more than I have. I’ve set 50g carb/ 30g net carbs as my ceiling. I am thinking of joining DietDoctor to help me plan meals more creatively. Im tracking everything on carb manager.
I wouldn’t be concerned with the troll accusation. Some people on here think you have a nerve trying to lose weight unless you let yourself get to the size of a house first. Or they forget us shorties can be overweight at 10st !
good luck

Thanks for replying, Oh is that what it was?! I didn't understand at all where the troll thing came from
Basically all my clothes are tight so I'm over weight for me. I sat at 9 stone for past few years and in the last year its crept up and I feel uncomfortable.
I've been really strict under 20g carbs but I'm really constipated!! I'm thinking I need to introduce some Raspberries and Prunes to keep me regular.
I weighed this morning and I'm still 9 stone 12.
Hoping to be down a pound by Monday weigh in as I've been really strict and starting to feel good

Feel like I have less of an appetite.
Missing a big milky latte but checked on carb manager and I'd be 15g carbs just for a latte 🤪
Not worth it.

Still 9 stone 12 although down one inch waist and 1.5 hips this morning

Well done on the inch loss @ BakerLea. Perhaps you have lost weight too but being bunged up isn’t helping the scales!!
I am on day 6 and I am 5lb down already. I know that must be mainly water but it’s still very heartening. I normally really struggle to lose weight.
I have been using keto sticks every day and they are now bright-deep pink.
I am missing carbs hugely (toast?!) but it’s true the hunger isn’t as bad as low-fat diets. I have felt pretty cloudy- headed at time getting used to it though. Keep at it. BTW I’m keeping net carbs at 30g but ketosis is working. Yippee. Good luck in the scales. I weigh at weekend in case I forget on Monday mornings.

Great start!
Low fat food is loads of sugar so cutting that out stops the sugar highs and lows through the day which I love.
Are you feeling slimmer too? Clothes fitting better?

Well well. I am sort of in if you don't mind.

I am 10st 2

I am 5ft 2

I want to be 9st but I'll take 9 st 5 any day and I don't think I'll be there by mid April.

I have recently gone high protein. Not at keto levels but I've lost a few slow pounds and my body shape has changed very noticeably- stomach flatter, trousers doing up easily, slightly baggy leggings. High protein is definitely the way to go

I'm having a protein bar in the morning and a clear protein drink with my dinner in the evening. I'm also making high protein choices and substitutions where I can.

It's curbed my hunger massively and the junk food has plummeted naturally.

I'm not calorie counting - a rough totting up in my head and I'm having all the treats I want to but I want to a lot less and when I do I'm too full to eat too much.

What is an average day of food for high protein?

OP posts:

declutteringmymind · 19/03/2023 17:12

I have no plan.

Typical day

I'll have a coffee
10:30 protein bar

If I'm at work I'll have a late lunch of high protein ready meal with high protein yogurt/if I'm at home it's smoked salmon and scrambled eggs or similar when I'm next hungry which is about 3pm

Normal dinner with protein drink

Snacks - lentil crisps, a few biscuits. I'm not

As much water as possible

I'm not keeping tabs on what I eat but making sure as much as possible has as much protein in eg high protein spaghetti is 80% protein by weight so I'll have Turkey meatballs with that.

It's slow but actually sustainable for me.

declutteringmymind · 19/03/2023 17:13

I'll have salad/fruit with meals.

I'm 9 stone 11 this morning which I'm pleased about.
Won't weigh again till next Monday when my goal is 9 stone 10 🤞
Hope this means it's actual fat weight coming off rather than water retention as it seems gradual.

That's great well done!!

I think 1 pound per week is a realistic goal.
We can both be at our goal weights by May!

I feel so much better on keto I can't imagine going back to eating white starchy carbs again, it's making me realise how bad they make you feel. Bloated, then sugar dip then craving more sugar.
They taste amazing but I might be at an age when I need to listen to my body.

I've only just discovered stopping binge drinking on a night out and that a few drinks through out the day/evening does me so much better both mentally and physically. So I'm thinking this white carbs thing might be the same.

Im near 40 now so can't get away with the same shit I put in my body at 25 with no consequence.

That's exactly how I feel!

I'm going to a body pump class tonight so I can start to get some muscle on.

My next challenge is an Italian on Saturday. I'll have a protein drink before I go and hope for the best!

Hope you've had a good day. Have you tested for ketones?

Well done on your weight loss @BakerLea and welcome @declutteringmymind . interesting to hear about high -protein too.
I am 10’11’’ today, so it’s gone up overnight but still 4lb in a week. We had Chinese takeaway last night (Mothers Day treat) so I chose the best I could, with no rice, but ate too much yesterday.
I agree it’s good to be away from the sugar crash and crave.

My eating is falling into pattern of:
B: just coffee in the morning- usually black or one spoonful of cream (really missing my milky coffees).
L: protein (eg. cheese omelette or salmon fillet or chicken thighs or last nights leftovers, always served with side salad & avocado.
D: usual type meat dinners but without the carb component, with green veg instead.
Snack: a few cubes of cheese or slice of deli meat or a small handful berries & plain yoghurt, if carb count allows…or if I haven’t had a snack, in the evening I have 20g of salted nuts & (a drink) with Diet Coke…..and some wine at weekends….really need to work on all that!

I am missing bread, potatoes and actually really missing fruits. Other than this I’m coping well and fine without processed stuff, crisps, chocolate, biscuits etc.
Have a good week all! Stay strong. And let me know if you have any lovely meal ideas.

Hi can I join. Am starting seriously this week. 12 stone 4 and 5'8 aiming for a stone loss by April 30th to start with and 10 stone 8 by the end of June. Think that's as far as I can go without looking too thin! Baby is one next month and need to get arse in gear !

Yes of course everyone welcome.
I had no appetite until about 1pm today and had eggs and Avacado.

I've ordered the urine test strips so they don't arrive until next week so I'm looking forward to seeing if I'm actually in ketosis or just low carbing.

Also reading about a whoosh effect that you can drop a few pounds over night as cells let fat go and fill up with water and then over night you can drop that water.

I remember this happening once before and I dropped 4lbs over night so I know it's possible.

Anyway 9 stone 7/8 is my goal for Monday 10th April which I think is doable.

Good evening all.

Hiya @onwardsup4

@BakerLea I'm rooting for a whooosh for you. I remember reading about the retention then the whoosh, thanks for reminding me. It does make sense.

My goal is as much to form good long term habits as it is to lose weight which I why I'm taking my weight goal with a pinch of salt. As long as things are going in the right direction ie down, I'm happy.

Had a protein bar for breakfast.
Gym kitchen high protein ready meal for lunch. Quite a carby dinner though. I'm going to have a protein drink and go to bed I think. I've got a lot of work and home stress which is probably working against me in terms of cortisol levels. I'm angry about a few things so I'm trying to channel that into some discipline.

I really want to pound the pavement but I've got sick children 🙄.

I'm up a pound today and kicking myself for not waiting till Monday to weigh again as I know weight loss is not linear.
I'll never learn!!
Hoping Monday I'll either be back to 9 stone 11 or down a pound but clothes definitely feeling better.
My work trousers are chinos and they have been tight since January, yesterday they were baggy and it's either my weight or the fact that I air dried these ones rather than tumble dried them so today I'm experimenting with the tumble dried ones to see if they are still loose!!

I'm with you about this being a new way of life rather than a quick fix diet. In 2 weeks there was only one occasion where I nearly cracked but apart from that it's been manageable and don't feel restricted at all.

Declutter I hope the kids are better today
