Sorry to hear of the struggles - onwards and upwards (or downwards?).

I'm managing to find enough recipes for main meals and breads and treats but I was wondering how you all manage when away/eating out?

It's probably further complicated by intermittent fasting at the same time but we are going away for a couple nights but with extra guests and also meeting family so we will need to cater to others and also eat out. Then as soon as I get back, I'm travelling overnight for work. Flying over lunchtime (but need to leave home about 10am, eating out with colleagues in the evening and attending an event the next day, then flying over my evening meal time and not getting in until 10pm. I can take pork scratchings and keto boost balls for snacks but no idea what else i can do. Eating out i'm thinking steak and salad.

@CoffeeChocolateWine plantar fascilitis is so limiting, I agree. Seems so unfair to get that when struggling to lose weight & trying to up the exercise. That’s happened to me too. I went out and bought some cushioned trainers which seem to help. But as for the self sabotaging I had a full Chinese take away last night. Didn’t even enjoy it really. Going nowhere near the scales. Two steps forward, on step back

Cherryana · 22/04/2023 06:18

Good early morning to you,

I weighed in and I am 9 stone 10. Which is minus a pound from my first post on the 1 April. The three weeks includes a blip, but I have stuck with it, and here we are.

I am glad I kept going now.

Happy Saturday 😊

Dellabob123 · 24/04/2023 09:05

Morning- can i join?
been on keto for about 3 weeks, keeping to 15g carbs as that’s what carb manager tells me!!!! Success so far, feeling great. I have about 7lbs that I want to lose and they are the toughest!!

I’ve lost 3 so far, so b pleased. I ate a load of gooey fat off the roast pork last night and was expecting a whoosh this morning- sadly not 😔

im 4ft 11 and if i so much as sniff a loaf of bread I look like a sack of spuds!! This is the only way for me.

well done everyone for sticking to it…it’s definitely harder this time around with peri knocking at my door!

Putple · 25/04/2023 12:30

Hi all,

I had a blip on the weekend. But I've been back on it since, it's been two weeks today and I'm 2kg down, even with the blip! So I'm happy with that.

Hope everyone else is doing ok?

BakerLea · 26/04/2023 07:44

Hi everyone
I had covid last week and the only thing I actually wanted to eat was sugary stuff, no actual food. So I've literally had a week off. Back on it on Sunday so will hope there was no damage because I must have still been low on calories even though I ate sugar as I didn't actually eat any meals.
Anyway the bloating and constipation I've experienced from that is not worth it!!
Got a goal for 22nd may of 9 stone 7 which is more realistic than my last goal so hoping to meet that in 4 weeks time.

@CoffeeChocolateWine Could you please share your low carb banana bread recipe?

I'm low carbing again. It's worked in the past but then I've had too much wine and comfort eating and put it all back on.

I'm 5'2 and 12st 7 which is horrific BMI is obese and I hate how I look. Plus most of wardrobe is now too small.

So started a la bootcamp on Monday. 5 lb down so far.

I ordered some low carb bread and had a delicious avacado and bacon sarnie for lunch and then 30 mins later horrific diarrhoea so wondering if that low carb bread didn't agree with me!!!!

Anyhow. I need to loose at least 2 stone before the autumn. I'm usually great with bootcamp for 3 weeks and then I fall off the wagon. Was hoping some low carb bread and wraps would make it more sustainable but am a bit nervous now!

colouringindoors · 29/04/2023 17:25

@FamilyFuckery wow that's an amazing loss! Any advice to help me persevere?

CoffeeChocolateWine · 30/04/2023 14:30

@colouringindoors, have tried to attach photos of the recipe. Just to say again, this one isn't keto-friendly, but it's relatively low carb, no added sugar and really tasty. Ignore the carbs per serving bit...it's a Second Nature recipe and unless you're familiar with the way they 'count' carbs, it won't make much sense!

Good evening everyone, just checking in to say 9 stone 9 - so minus a pound on last week. I finished ‘Health with Bec’ so while it did have nice recipes and it got me on low carb track - I don’t think it was worth the £80. I have just spent another £80 but this is for 12 week access to the fast 800 and at the moment I am rating the app, the recipes and the way it’s laid out.
It does a meal plan and a shopping list which is really good. I am hoping it’s going to help me stay on track.

Mimosa08 · 01/05/2023 21:18

Well.
I'm officially obese :(
I need to lose 3.5 stone
This woe worked for me a few years ago so time to try again!
Good luck op x

declutteringmymind · 01/05/2023 21:23

Hi @Mimosa08! Just get started and be kind to yourself

Well done on everyone's losses

I'm back down to 10st but will be challenged again this week with birthdays and anniversaries.

I'll do my best though.

How is everyone else doing?

BigBoysDontCry · 01/05/2023 21:38

Good luck everyone. That's me one month into this process. Starting weight was 11'9" and I'm now 11'2". I'm 5'10 (or maybe 5'9"in my old age 😁) so I'm in a healthy weight range but I do seem to be losing my pot belly which is good.

Most importantly though, my blood sugars are still on a downward trend with them mostly being in the "normal" range for someone with diabetes and sometimes being in the normal range for someone without diabetes.

Does anyone have days when they are just really tired and struggling for energy?

The worst bit for me at the moment is that I can't always be bothered eating or making food particularly if it's lunchtime.

I have recently found Olina's crackers (currently on sale in waitrose at £1.60) two different varieties that are about 1.3g carbs per portion. Packet says 4 are 20g but I've found that 3 are 18/19 grams so essentially 5 portions to a pack. Fab for cream cheese etc.

Cherryana · 02/05/2023 20:50

I do get tired...happily though I haven't work much in the past four weeks and so had plenty of time to rest. I think I would really struggle if I was working full time.

BakerLea · 03/05/2023 08:04

I'm 9 stone 10 today so could be worse especially after weekend of chocolate binging!! I just went for it at the weekend and I suffered on Sunday night, felt so sick, indigestion and had about 10 poos!!
My poor body is trying to tell me it hates sugar and I have to listen!!

Day 3 back on now and feeling good. Woke up feeling alot less bloated.
Hows everyone doing?

I'm obsessed with this mousse, whipped double cream, whip in soft cheese and then some natural peanut butter. I've had this with chipped nuts and raspberries and it's delicious.

I don't think I struggle energy wise, I just eat loads more calories on days when I know I'm busy/exercising. On other days I can eat alot less.

Mimosa08 go easy on yourself. Plenty of support on here and we won't judge if you fall off the wagon.
Just break it down into lots of 5-7 pounds and start like that. Can't wait to hear about your progress.

I'm definitely trying those olina crackers.
Does anyone else have any good dessert or snack type ideas to share?

Anybody know any good, quick keto friendly desserts that don't use sweetener for emergency cravings?

Aurea · 03/05/2023 09:25

I've made up my own recipe and I think it's keto friendly.

It serves two generous portions and one can be kept in the fridge for the next day.

Put one can of good quality full fat coconut milk in a pan. I use Amoy.
Add a couple of rounded desert spoonfuls of chia seeds. A few drop of vanilla essence. Sometimes a spoonful of desiccated coconut for texture. Then a row of green and blacks 85% choc. Heat gently and pour in ramekins and chill until set.

OkayBozo · 03/05/2023 09:29

Oh thanks for sharing @Aurea - that sounds great

Ketowon · 03/05/2023 19:51

Hi, I've been lurking on this thread and finally posting. Today is one week since I started keto but I'm not sure im in ketosis yet. I'm using carb manager and have mostly stayed under the 20g net carbs apart from one day.

It seems surreal that I'm mostly eating cheese and chicken and cream in my coffee. Normally i love salads but slowly discovering all my faves add up to too many carbs too quickly.

Im 5ft 9.5 and 10st 10 when I started and down to 10st 8.6. Haven't yet lost any inches on hips/thighs/arms.

2 days in.
I'm following the Dr john broffa plan as I did before
Not gonna lie...I'd love a biscuit 🤣

Mimosa08 · 03/05/2023 21:01

briffa
Silly fat fingers 🙄

BigBoysDontCry · 03/05/2023 21:27

I've just had one of those really fed up with food days. I'd made lunch the night before to take into work today. Had a salad with prawns, chicken and avocado and some seeds and mayo and three Olina's crackers with Boursin cheese but I seem to be over salads as I really enjoyed them to being with. Couldn't think what to have for dinner, lacking inspiration and motivation today so ended up with a heated up cooked chicken with a bit of nando's sauce chucked on and some broccoli with butter. Had a little bit of berries with a spoon of greek yoghurt for after. I've not reached any of my macros today but my eating window finished 3 hours ago. Consoling myself with a diet coke.

On the plus side, I've had 3 post dinner glucose tests in a row that would be in the normal range for someone without diabetes and none that would be out of the ordinary for someone with type 2 diabetes for over two weeks.

I'm going to keep things strict for at least another month and if they stay the same or drop, i'll start trying a few extra carbs to see how my body reacts.

I'm honestly not craving a return to the past or for anything in particular other than an apple :D but a little extra flexibility would be good.

I think part of my problem is that I'm not a fan of cheese, fatty meat/chicken skin, can't eat eggs more than one or twice a week and I'm not a big fish eater either. DH is happy tucking into eggs and mackeral etc so my food icks are affecting the variety of stuff I can have.

Mimosa08 · 03/05/2023 21:37

I hear you!
I'm allergic (or at least intolerant) to yoghurt, cheese and shellfish
Makes low carb much harder imo
I'm not sure what's for lunch tomorrow but dinner is steak and sweet potato wedges 😊

BigBoysDontCry · 03/05/2023 22:04

That does sound hard. I eat cheese obviously but it's not like I can happily snarf back a chunk of cheddar just on its own like DH will.

I've currently got what is I think either an allergic reaction or a reaction to some sort of deficiency. I have an itchy jaw and neck which now seems to just happen during the night. I did have some associated hives around my throat and upper chest but that has calmed down. It's still itchy when i get up in the morning but disappears as the day goes on - only to wake me and keep me awake for at least an hour between 2 and 4 am. It's bizarre. DH thought i'd caught the sun with my ruddy cheeks. I was more panicking that i was allergic to almonds but I don't think that is the case.

Steak sounds good but I thought sweet potatoes were too high carb?

I'm going to try to make pizzas with bases made from egg and cheese tomorrow I think. If I can be bothered to make yet another trip to the shops for ingredients. I also bought some rhubarb so will maybe make a crumble or something.

On the briffa plan you can have sweet potatoes in moderation:)
The GI load is much less than white potatoes 🥔
