Goal weight is 9 stone 5

Started on Thursday 9th March

I've done keto before but I'm trying to be really strict with keeping carbs under 20g.
Im so far down 3 lbs and jeans I tried on Friday already feel better today

Weight today 9 stone 12

Want to get to 9 stone 7 by 13th April

Well done @BakerLea! I'm down 2lb this morning at 10 stone 13. It was my aim to be under 11 for the Monday weigh-in so happy with that (so long as I don't overindulge this weekend and ruin it!)

The BMI charts are quite eye opening aren't they. I'm tall so actually well into the healthy weight range for my height, but I know my happy weight and the weight that I know I can maintain when I'm eating normally and not in my pattern of comfort eating/binging and that's 10st 7. The chart says I could go down as far as 9st 9 and still be in the healthy range but that seems unmanageable and unsustainable for me. I haven't been that weight since I was a teen!

Putple · 01/04/2023 12:08

Eeek! Can I join?! I haven't read the full thread yet.
It's also nice to see a few other 5ft 2" people here.

Im 5ft 2- 11stone 3! I am shocked I've let myself get like this. I love sugar.
I did keto a couple of years ago and I got down to 8st 9lbs but that made my face look bad! So I think I'd like to be around the 9.5st mark too.

I'm on holiday, been here a week and I just feel terrible. So bloated, flabby, cellulite everywhere. I need to sort it- and there's loads of keto options here so I'be started today! Better this than going home 4kg heavier!

Will read the rest of the thread now :)

Rollerbird · 01/04/2023 12:39

Well I've well and truly fell off the wagon

Chocolate galore, chips tonight and fresh start tomorrow

declutteringmymind · 01/04/2023 12:45

Well done @BakerLea and @CoffeeChocolateWine

I've weighed in early as I'm about to go away for a week. Im half a pound down but a bit constipated. So I took 2 x laxatives last night as I'm so bloated. Nothing yet and we need to leave for the airport in a few hours.

I've packed my protein but I'm not going to be a martyr to it. I'll do my best and deal with it when I get back. We're planning hikes and bike rides and swimming so hopefully that will mitigate.

It seems that I won't be below 10 st soon but I'm playing the long game here so it is what it is.

My BMI is also healthy at 9st 10 but the nhs website says it needs to be 21 due to my high risk of diabetes type II. I start looking weird at 9st so I'm just going to do what I can.

Happy weekend everyone.

BakerLea · 01/04/2023 13:28

Welcome putple
The bloated feeling is honestly the worse for me
I was about day 8 and suddleny felt so de bloated and slimmer. I too am/was a sugar addict. I've not touched chocolate in over 3 weeks and the sugar Cravings are not bothering me much at all now.
Rollerbird we are only human, enjoy your cheat and back on it tomorrow
Decluttering hope you have a great holiday.
I'm scared I'll be back up for Monday weigh in but we will see what it brings!!
Enjoy your weekend everyone

@CoffeeChocolateWine well done to you too. Somehow the scales mean more of an accomplishment to me than inches lost!!

OP posts:
Cherryana · 01/04/2023 15:22

Hello, Well done on everyone’s check ins.

I got on the scales today (first time since Jan where I was 10 stone 4) and it was 9 stone 11. So that is quite a good starting place.

CoffeeChocolateWine · 02/04/2023 11:42

Morning (just) all. I had a slightly indulgent day yesterday...went for a nice spontaneous meal out with the family and had pizza, pudding and a little more wine than intended! DH has this idea that it's 'polite' to keep my glass topped up at all times when we're out despite me asking him not to 🤦‍♀️ It's things like that this that send me on a slippery slope back into craving carbs and sugar so trying my best to keep myself on track today! Wish me luck!

Putple · 02/04/2023 11:54

Hope everyone has a great Sunday, I managed to stay on track yesterday but it's my daughters birthday today so I'm going to have to hide away from the cake!

CoffeeChocolateWine · 03/04/2023 08:36

Monday weigh-in: 10st 13lb - down 3lb this week.

Happy with that and same again this week please!

Already looking ahead to Easter with a sense of dread. We have a big family get-together which I can't wait for, but lots of indulgent food and chocolate and cakes everywhere! I want to find a decent balance between indulging without massively overindulging! Do you tend to just relax on these occasions and worry about any blips/gains afterwards and try your best to get back on it, or do you actually try to more or less stay on plan?

BakerLea · 03/04/2023 09:30

I'm 9 stone 10 so up from Saturday.
So I'm taking that as a total of 5lbs of fat lost since my initial starting weight.
Goal is 9 stone 7 by 12th but its not looking likely with how I'm loosing, its 1lb down, 2 up for past few weeks!!
I'm actually going strict over Easter. I'm finding the resisting quite easy and I feel as though I'm on a roll with this. I know for a fact if I cheat over Easter I'll have about 2 weeks of cheating and I'll undo all my work.
I'm going to make a few keto desserts for myself so I'll probably go over for my calories but just not sugar. There's loads online to try.
I've had plenty an easter eating like a pig and end up eating chocolate to the point of nausea! Then eating some more after that 😁

OP posts:
CoffeeChocolateWine · 03/04/2023 10:44

@BakerLea, yes I think if we were just having a 'normal' Easter at home, I would be more able to stay on plan. It's difficult when it's a big group gathering though...there will be 20 of us; I won't be in control of all the food like I would be at home; and as well as being Easter it's also a celebration weekend so I keep hearing from family members about the cakes and biscuits and desserts that are being prepared, as well as indulgent carb-heavy meals and wine!

I think if I was confident I could just relax and enjoy for those few days and then get straight back on it, I'd be able to go with it a bit more. But I've fallen off the wagon enough times to know that there will be the two week slide of sugar and carb cravings and me failing to resist 😬

My vague plan at the point is to take my own food for breakfasts, including loads of eggs to share with everyone one morning, plenty of salad stuff for lunches, and then relax a bit for the dinners within reason. It will be the wine that I will need to stay the most mindful of I reckon.

declutteringmymind · 03/04/2023 11:41

Well done everyone! Great losses for the week.

Am doing my best here at the all inclusive. Hope you're all rooting for me!

Mochinated · 03/04/2023 19:29

I've been lurking, hi! Another one who is battling sugar cravings! Week before period is the worst. I used to live off chocolate, the thought of how much I was eating makes me feel queasy now. So bad for my body, constant mood swings.

I definitely have some brain fog now that I'm a few weeks into being strict, but overall am much less moody.

For snacks I've been eating cheese and fruit together. It is a definite hack to mix salty and sweet for tricking the cravings into submission.

Easter will be ok as I also have had many an Easter stuffing my face so don't feel like I'm missing out at all.

BakerLea · 04/04/2023 08:30

Hi Mochinated, Are you doing keto or low carb?
I'm trying keto although some days it's probably low carb but I'm under 50g if not 30g every day.
Feel better for it.
I agree the sugar Cravings are the worst. I was a sugar fiend. Insatiable appetite for sweet stuff.
Do you have much to loose or is it just to feel better?

OP posts:
CoffeeChocolateWine · 04/04/2023 09:42

Hi @Mochinated. Sounds like you're doing well if you're a few weeks in! I can relate to the overeating of chocolate/sugar-laden crap. Makes me feel awful when I think about it, but doesn't mean I can't slip back into that habit! Always really conscious of that!

My favourite snack is a crunchy apple smothered with peanut butter so definitely a salty-sweet thing here too. I also love cheese with pickled onions or gherkins, sometimes with a homemade seed cracker which I seem to make constantly!

@BakerLea, how do you count your carbs? Do you work out your carbs for everything you eat or just the carby food iykwim?

When I was on the Second Nature plan, we only counted the high-carb foods, such as pasta, rice, cous cous, potatoes, sweet potatoes and 1 potion of carbs was defined as however much of the food source gave 15g of carbs. And the idea was to keep below 3 portions each day and have 1 meal carb-free (ie. without any high-carb foods) and keep fruit at 1 piece a day. I tend to keep below 2portions a day now and 1 or 2 meals low-carb.

Do you tend to count the carbs more accurately than that and work out exactly how much is in each type of food? Do you have a chart to give you an idea or just look at the dietary info on the packaging?

Mochinated · 04/04/2023 18:41

@BakerLea I am doing low carb I think 🤔 I have the fast 800 keto book but not sure how to calculate macros so just doing my best to eat the foods recommended in the book. I plan to lose 10kg and land somewhere near my pre-baby weight. Not putting too much pressure on the weight though, feeling better and improving fitness is the main goal.

@CoffeeChocolateWine what a username! Haha. Apple and peanut butter is so good! Peanut butter and anything to be fair!

For morning coffee I cut the sugar out (sad) but switched to cream to get some extra fat in. I can't lie, it is delicious!

CoffeeChocolateWine · 04/04/2023 19:29

@Mochinated, ha ha! Yes, you can see where my weaknesses are! To be fair, I remember choosing this username when DD1 was a very high maintenance baby and DS was a toddler, and let's just say I was finding life tough and these three things got me through it! Not very low-carb or keto-friendly though!

Mochinated · 05/04/2023 19:15

@BakerLea how are you doing? Easter fast approaching!

For lunch I did asparagus and salmon in the air frier with a bottled dressing chili and lime. Had a protein shake just now to try and tackle the sugar cravings!

Cherryana · 06/04/2023 20:48

Hello, just checking and seeing how everyone is doing?

I am doing as well as I think I can - sticking to it, drinking water. Just wish I was a few weeks in the future to see what changes (if any) there are.

BakerLea · 07/04/2023 09:22

Hi all I've had a few days with chocolate/sugar involved!! I just really fancied some. I've stuck to my keto meals but had some in the evening.
So I'm back on plan today and hoping it's not undone my good work. It wasn't even a cheat day as such it was more normal keto day with some cake in the evening, then last night I had a bit of chocolate. So I don't feel too bad, I am human!!
Back to it now.
Im seeing this as a way of eating rather than a short term crash diet so it doesn't feel so bad.
I can definitely feel the difference waking up after some sugar last night though, groggy, not feeling fresh!!

Hi everyone.
Grats on the weight loss and thanks for such a supportive place to share.

I have just discovered Mums net and this thread.

I started a low carb diet due to PCOS and insulin resistance back in December. I'm 5ft 4 and started out 12st 11. I am now down to 10st 10. But I'm yo-yoing between 10st 10 and 10st 12 at the moment. I know I have an ovarian cyst at the moment so think that might be contributing a bit to the poundage. I seem to have stopped loosing weight. Ideally I need to be 10st 7 or under. So almost there. I'm 35.

Any tips? Smile

declutteringmymind · 07/04/2023 16:39

Hi @MrsKaymazing. You've done amazingly! Especially considering the PCOS.

My advice to you is be kind to yourself. You're obviously know what works so keep at it. I think exercise helps insulin resistance but I'm sure you already know that. Im upping the protein but it's hard. I've given in to a few carbs this past week but I've kept up my protein intake.

Sometimes a change in routine can kick start weight loss.l so maybe try that?

MrsKaymazing · 08/04/2023 07:57

Morning @declutteringmymind thank you for the reply, it really has given me a boost this morning! I'm going to try shake things up a bit. It's going to get easier I think now the weather is improving. I can go running in the evenings after work. I made the mistake initially with replacing carbs with cheese and on my next set of bloods, my Dr pointed out my cholesterol was us. Since then Iv started having heathy fats like mackerel etc or avocado.

Cherryana · 08/04/2023 08:09

Morning everyone and welcome @MrsKaymazing

So weigh in today and it was 9 stone 11 - which means no change. I can hardly believe it.

I look less bloated, I feel less joint pain and if anyone could be perfect this week it was me. I even measured my food with cups!!

I was sure I was going to be down but alas this is the real world of weight loss. You’ve just got to hang on and not give up!
