@BakerLea we all know the scales don't always reflect effort!

Non scale wins are definitely a better judge of weight loss.

My clothes are feeling much more comfortable already.

I've only lost about 5lb since Christmas, 2 of those on high protein but my body shape has changed so much more that what the scales are telling me. Flatter stomach, more defined waste, reduced bloating.

I've got so many beautiful clothes that I want to get back into.

I am being challenged right now though. Tons of work stress, family stress and now the kids are better the inevitable has happened- I've caught it.

I need a break!!!

Rollerbird · 23/03/2023 20:44

I'm joining 😀

I've been struggling loads. I joined the bootcamp half way through and only down about 2lbs!
Ive got carb manager now. I put in goal, weight loss, weight, height, how active I am. It's given me 1300 cals a day for keto with 16g carbs?
I've done that today.
Does it sound low?
I had chicken, cauli greens omelette divided into 2 meals, almond milk in coffee, and butter, loads of water.

Rollerbird · 23/03/2023 20:45

It's less food than I expected!

declutteringmymind · 23/03/2023 23:11

Hiya @rollerbird

I've done 1300 before. It will take time to get used to it I think. Just keep yourself distracted.

As @BakerLea said, weight loss is not linear. Are you well hydrated?

Also be aware of ketosis - great if you're wanting to but if you are by accident and you have alcohol, you could end up quite unwell.

Im really enjoying the myprotein clear drink in cherry drops. 20g of protein in a clear refreshing drink. I have it with my meal in the evening and my snacking has stopped completely. And I'm not hungry in the morning.

Rollerbird · 23/03/2023 23:46

I am drinking water as much as I can.. Let's see how it goes

BakerLea · 24/03/2023 09:42

So funny you should have written that declutter, I had 2 wines last night, I've not been off the toilet since about 3am!!
Still going it's just run through me so must keep that in mind!!
I'm having 2 litres water per day.Welcome roller bird
That does seem low for calories, even with my keto or low carb I'm still hitting 1700 per day, although as you can see my weight loss is not massive with that so far.
My carb manager recommends 1500 so I'm always over but I feel I need these extra calories.
The last thing I'm wanting to do is restrict and then crack. Also want this to be sustainable long term.

Rollerbird · 24/03/2023 11:55

Today's food plan
Lunch and dinner again half of the following for each meal (just had lunch)
500g 20%fat mince
Cauli leaves
Broccoli stalks

Lots of water
Unsweetened almond milk for coffee

Woke up with a headache today.
Added some himalayan pink salt I had to my water bottle to try and keep the sodium and potassium up.

Rollerbird · 24/03/2023 11:57

If i lose loads I will up the cals. As I'd like to do it long term too.

declutteringmymind · 24/03/2023 14:06

Not a bad idea @rollerbird. Sounds like you're on it.

I'm having another stressful day
Managed 3 bourbons 2 coffees and a protein bar which is just self neglect.

Having a rest, picking up one child then going shopping for some healthy and nutritious food.

Then curling up with the kids tonight and doing f* all.

Hope everyone is having a lovely Friday.

CoffeeChocolateWine · 24/03/2023 14:26

I would like to join please 😊 I'm trying to cut down on carbs at the moment but keep wobbling. Accountability would be great I think. I'm 11 stone and want to lose 7-10lb if poss.

BakerLea · 24/03/2023 15:21

Hi coffeechocolatewine all my favourite things!!
I'm going to weigh every monday so join if you would like too.
It is hard to get into but get through the first 2 weeks and I promise you will feel so much better. I've gone strict under 20g carbs for first week but found myself really bunged up so I've added berries and Prunes for 2nd week and that helped alot.
I'm day 16 here and my appetite is so much less, my sugar Cravings are manageable and I'm feeling really good.

I've just made a mousse which is so delicious so I've whipped double cream, then added soft cheese and whip together. Tiny amount of vanilla extact and peanutbutter. Then I've had some in a bowl with some chopped nuts in and it felt like I was eating dessert. Would also be delicious with some berries

Hope everyone has a good weekend. And I'm looking forward to Monday weigh in!!

CoffeeChocolateWine · 24/03/2023 15:39

Hmmm...yes, thinking about it, I may need to change my username to 'WaterNutsMorewater'!

I have done low-carb previously and lost 3 stone, but it's crept back up again by about 10lb. Not a disaster but I would really like to recapture how good I felt when I was really in the right mindset and in control of my food choices. I'm struggling with that at the moment. I get in the zone for 10 days or so, start feeling good and then have a slight wobble with feeling down, or overwhelmed, or tired, and reach for something sugar-laden. But my problem seems to be that once I've had one lapse, I go on this downhill slide that seems to last for days and really find it hard to get back in the right mindset. I'm on that slide right now so I'm hoping this thread will help get me back on track! Will do the weigh-in on Monday.

Rollerbird · 24/03/2023 22:47

I really feel resonance with that @CoffeeChocolateWine . I'm 10 stone 2.5 and want to get back to my happy 9 stone 3 lbs. I was that until June 2022 when I had abdominal surgery, and it all went to pot.
I have been trying to lose since January. I got up to 10 stone 10 and started trying low carb a few weeks ago going from 10 4 to now.
I've never done strict before but am trying proper keto. I will weigh in on Monday and if I stick to it (I will). I'm hoping for below 10 stone.
As soon as I get choices and I feel crappy one sweet thing turns into a bag of m and m's, a bag of haribo, flumps and a bar of chocolate.

BakerLea · 25/03/2023 06:55

I totally hear you, it's not just one evening of sugar then right back in to it, suddenly your will power and mind are telling you that you have already had sugar so what's a bit more today and then the next day, start back on Monday etc and before you know it it's been 10 days of sugar hinge and you feel crap again!
I'd love to be the person who has a cheat day and is straight back on plan but once I've tasted the sweet, it's like an addiction.
I've seen myself eating a 300g bar of dairy milk in the morning in one go, then meet friends for coffee and cake in the afternoon. I'm all or nothing I think.

BakerLea · 25/03/2023 06:55

Binge*

OP posts:
Rollerbird · 25/03/2023 19:10

I'm feeling nauseous today.
Can taste ketones in my throat and am drinking lots of water.
Im thinking it's working though.
How long does it take to get better?

declutteringmymind · 25/03/2023 20:32

@BakerLea yes I'm all or nothing with sugar. I am a sugar addict unfortunately. This is the first time for a long time that not enjoying it.

We all went to one of those gawdy dessert places this evening and I had a hot chocolate whic tasted sickly sweet. I'm also finding the protein bars too sickly too.

I've not done well on protein today so I'm going to have a protein drink then go to bed. Probably my worst day so far but I'm not bothered as it's real life and I really enjoy the food that I did eat.

I do find the social aspects of any kind of strict plan the hardest to navigate.

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend

Sworntofun · 25/03/2023 20:59

Hi can I join in please? I’m currently 10 stone 9 having been 11 stone 8 just after Christmas. Have been restricting carbs since then though I’ve fallen off the wagon rather a lot in the last few weeks. Pleased with my progress but seem to have stopped losing. Aiming for 10 stone 6. I am in my fifties and 5 feet 6

Cherryana · 26/03/2023 07:51

Hello everyone,

Can I join you too? I am 5 foot and 10 stone. Would love to be 9 stone and wild be over the moon to be 8 stone 3.

I am officially starting tomorrow but I am going to do food prep and start today.
I have paid for a ‘course’ called Health with Bec and it’s laid out, her recipes look good, and I am going to receive 21 days of emails to get me on track…I am not sure that it’s worth £80 yet but we’ll see …

BakerLea · 26/03/2023 11:40

Hi new comers and welcome.
We will all be at our goal this summer!!

Everyone's goals so far seem very doable. I'm day 18 and it's becoming a way of living and some things are coming naturally now which is so good. I don't think I've ever made 3 weeks with no cheats so Thursday will be my 3 weeks!

Cherryana is the meal plan keto or low carb? You will have to let us know how you get on.
I find doing a different theme every week is more interesting so I've done a meaty week, this week it's cheese based. Makes it more fun and non repetitive.

Weigh in tomo so I'm aiming for 9 stone 10 fingers crossed

OP posts:
BakerLea · 26/03/2023 11:43

Rollerbird in general I feel really good, only naseus when I over eat things like I made a 4 egg omletter the other day 🤢🤢
Apart from that I'm feeling good, energetic
So I'm into 3rd week now. First 10 days is the worst

OP posts:
Sworntofun · 26/03/2023 13:18

Ive been having full fat Greek yoghurt for breakfast with a few berries and nuts. It’s been fine for weeks but the last few days have stomach ache afterwards. Wondering if I’ve had it too much and my body is just saying no more. What other quick easy breakfasts could I eat? Not that keen on eggs. Thanks

Rollerbird · 26/03/2023 13:34

I've been trying to not eat until lunch. But what about an avocado?
@Sworntofun that would appeal to me.
@BakerLea im on day 4 today.
I felt bad after a big meal so possibly that.

Cherryana · 26/03/2023 14:21

Hello everyone!

@BakerLea she calls it HFLC - high fat low carb

So today looks like:
B-Berrys and full fat Greek yog
L- Iceberg lettuce, 2 x eggs, bacon and the most amazing yogurt based dressing
D- Salmon and pak choi
Bullet coffee with MTC oil
2 litres of water
optional snack - keto bread, yog and blueberries

So I don’t know if that is low carb or keto?

LostaraYil · 26/03/2023 18:53

Hi, can I join? Day 1 today, although I have often done a few weeks of low carb or keto. I sometimes end up finding low carb threads too restrictive and I have been more successful on keto when I allow myself keto desserts e.g. rhubarb with whipped cream, keto chocolate mousse etc.
I made some cheese and almond bread today, the plan is to have that or greek yoghurt with berries for lunches this week, cheese and salad ad a snack in the afternoon and meat and veg for dinners.
Sounds like many of you are doing great and getting into the swing of things. Hearing about others' losses definitely helps with motivation, keep it up.
