Welcome MrsKaymazing and well done on your loss so far. That's amazing work!!
It seems the last 10 pounds are the hardest to loose so just keep going as you are and they will gradually come off.
Cherryana im the same as you, I'm stuck on 9 stone 10/11 and it's not budging.
I feel like hiding the scales. I feel less bloated and I feel slimmer so that's got to be something.
I'm thinking of introducing intermittent fasting to see if that helps.
Anyway I've managed Easter with no cheating!! And also a Sunday roast with Meats, Brocolli, cabbage which was delicious.

Good morning all. Hope all are having a lovely weekend.

So I have a damage report - up 1lb to 10st1. Oh well. I am a little disappointed as I ate so well during the holiday, and very little alcohol. Plus I kept up with the protein drinks and bars but alas it must have been the quantity of food and too much time horizontal.

However, I've been to a HIIT class this morning and i'm back on it.

Plateaus are tough aren't they? Just push through the psychological pain barrier and concentrate on those non scale wins. It will happen.

I've come to the conclusion that for me, hormones are probably working against me.
I've only had one period this year so hopefully they are on the way out but who knows?

Cherryana · 10/04/2023 20:59

It’s Tuesday (after Easter) tomorrow- so practically a Monday 😉feels like a good day to move forward!

CoffeeChocolateWine · 11/04/2023 09:19

Morning all, hope you all had a good Easter. I'm back from my family gathering and I think I did ok food-wise. I didn't completely fall off the wagon. I had good healthy, low-carb breakfasts and lunches like I would usually do at home. Dinners I tried my best to limit carbs and filled up on veg and protein, but I did have a couple of glasses of wine each night and a bit of cake. I feel it could have been a lot worse though. It felt indulgent without being overindulgent! Plus we did a fair bit of walking.

I haven't weighed in yet. I'll do that tomorrow as I've already eaten today.

Re. plateaus, yes they are tough and it can be hard to keep motivated when the scales aren't moving in the direction you'd like! But maintenance is better than a gain!

I remember when I did Second Nature learning about something called the 'Set Point theory'. I can't remember it exactly, but it basically says that your body has a natural 'set point' which is the weight your body naturally hovers at. You can lose (or gain) a certain amount of weight without your body putting up too much of a battle, but at some point it will try and resist you losing any more. And your body goes through a period where it needs to adapt to your new weight and reset to its new lower set point. So your metabolism slows in order to ration the energy intake etc. But according to the set point theory this is what these plateau periods are...your body adjusting to its new set point. And it can last for weeks but apparently should be viewed as a very natural, healthy part of a sustainable weight loss journey. At some point once your body has gone through this, your weight loss can resume. Might be worth a google to see if you can find an article that explains in better.

MrsKaymazing · 11/04/2023 17:07

Hello everyone!

Glad to hear you are all okay. I'm now hovering around 10st 9 3/4. That's interesting about the set point, I think I will Google that and look into it. Thank you.

My consultant wants to prescribe me metformin for my PCOS and insulin resistance. I wonder if any of you have experience if this?

I got an dark chocolate Lindt Easter egg for Easter. It had the dark chocolate balls with it which was good for me. They are low on carbs and fortunately I find having one is enough as they are quite Rich.

It reassures me to hear that you guys struggle with plateauing to. It can be rather frustrating.

With my insulin resistance, it feels like if I go over my carb limit by even a gram, my testosterone goes nuts, insta weight gain, spots and facial hair! Perhaps the metformin will help with this as it's supposed to help with the testosterone I believe.

Putple · 11/04/2023 23:08

Hi everyone,
So the holiday keto start didn't stick at all 😩 but I'm on it now.

I'm a bridesmaid in July. If I gain anymore weight I won't fit into the dress bought for me, and I'm also currently the fattest bridesmaid. So I'd like to change that!

What are your favourite keto breakfasts?

BakerLea · 12/04/2023 08:23

I'm 9 stone 10 this morning. However I'm down on my waist and hip measurements so I'm obviously loosing fat it's just slow from scales. I'm obviously not one of these people that can drop 1 lb per week.
Im also due my period so will probably be carrying water weight.
The main thing is I'm less bloated and I feel slimmer so definitely keeping going as I am.
Cheating with sugar set me back, I don't recommend. I was 4 days back to bloated and Constipated after that, not worth it!!

OP posts:
BakerLea · 12/04/2023 08:25

My favourite breakfasts are
Greek Yougurt with chopped nuts, seeds and few Raspberries.
Or
Continental style breakfast with cold Meats, Cheeses, olives, nuts
Or
Boiled eggs with some salt and butter

OP posts:
CoffeeChocolateWine · 12/04/2023 12:50

Favourite keto breakfasts for me are shakshouka, scrambled egg with smoked salmon (or bacon) and avocado, or Greek yoghurt with berries, chopped nuts and seeds.

But I often have a small amount of carbs with breakfast. LivLife bread is nice and low-carb. I also make a low-carb banana bread which is lovely with Greek yoghurt.

Putple · 12/04/2023 14:48

@BakerLea It's great that you're measuring yourself as well, it stops the disheartening feeling when stepping on the scales! Period coming definitely won't help, I always gain 1kg before it's due. Definitely keep going :)

Yes, the moment I'm having Greek yogurt with some berries - I eventually get bored of this though so thanks for some ideas.

I lost 0.5kg this morning, water weight but it still boosted my mood :)

Do you drink any alcohol on Keto? (Low carb like processo etc?)

BigBoysDontCry · 13/04/2023 20:49

Just enjoyed a read of the thread and seeing the ups and downs 😊

I had a horrendous blood sugar reading 2 and a half weeks ago - totally off the scale at 19.1!! Probably been like that for years, sweet tooth, love rice and pasta etc etc.

Went keto cold turkey and have dropped down to an average of 7ish which is getting close to normal. I'm also intermittent fasting which i was mostly doing before anyway. I was 11.12 when i started and now 11.7 but at nearly 5 10, i'm not overweight but i think this will now be me and the blood sugar monitor is keeping me on course. I'm hoping i might be able to move to low carb if i can get stable and normal.

No real cravings for my old life so far but getting fed up thinking what to eat all the time and the constipation isn't great either.

Weight hasn't changed too much since the first week (i had the opposite issue with the toilet for the first few days...nuff said.

CoffeeChocolateWine · 14/04/2023 09:41

Checking in here this morning. I'm annoyed with myself. After keeping things relatively good over the Easter weekend, I've had a bad week. I hate having chocolate around the house...it's not my chocolate but it just means I can see chocolate all the time so ended up having a couple of blips. Then I took my DDs to the cinema yesterday and ate popcorn 🤦‍♀️ I need to rein things back in quickly before my slippery slope gets too long!

So today I'm drinking lots of water (and coffee), having scrambled egg, smoked salmon and avocado for breakfast, salad for lunch and not sure what for dinner yet.

Cherryana · 15/04/2023 08:56

Me too - if I weigh everything up on balance it’s alright-ish.

I went to pilates, swimming, cardio class twice and did a home workout.

But I had a bit of chocolate here and there all week and it throws me off, inflames me and I bloat back up so I feel larger.

Just had a good breakfast. A new day is a new day and we get to choose the next page in our story and all that!

Putple · 15/04/2023 09:22

Good morning all,
I'm down 1.5kg since Tuesday, I feel way less bloated already and i don't crave carbs too much yet!

Does anytime else like some double cream on top of their Greek yogurt?! (With some berries)
It's probably overkill but it's really nice!

declutteringmymind · 16/04/2023 19:55

Well done @Putple

I've fallen off the wagon this week too unfortunately. Looking after sick parent and school holidays are not a good combo.

Back to it today and tomorrow. Dreading the scales tomorrow but I will face the music. Hope you are all have img a lovely weekend ❤️

Cherryana · 16/04/2023 22:53

Well done @Putple - that is fab.
@declutteringmymind you are braver than me regarding the scales!

FamilyFuckery · 16/04/2023 23:02

Hi everyone, haven’t read all the thread but I started keto in Jan 22 and I’ve lost over 7 stone. I’ve maintained since the new year but I’m drinking too much wine and eating too much dark choc. Need to get to the gym and out on my bike but I’m not gaining. Just wanted to say well done to you all. This is my way of life now, there are certain foods I just don’t eat and I feel so much better that I’m fine with that. It works. Keep the faith.

Sworntofun · 17/04/2023 08:07

Hello everyone and very well done to all for keeping going with this. Why are there so many temptations everywhere? Has anyone else got a ‘feeder’ for a partner? One who keeps offering little treats that you feel obliged to eat or who very kindly cooks a lovely potato or rice based meal? Our whole relationship started from a live if food, cooking and eating out so he finds it hard to think I’m restricted in what I can eat. I had been doing ok losing weight by being super strict with myself- nearly at target weight - but the last couple of weeks have been a disaster and I’ve now gained 4 pounds again 😩 Easter eggs - aaargh ! Also going on hols in 10 days time and not optimistic about the thought of resisting desserts, ice cream etc.

Sworntofun · 17/04/2023 08:07

Love of !!

Sworntofun · 17/04/2023 08:09

@FamilyFuckery 7 stone!!! That is amazing!!! Well done

declutteringmymind · 17/04/2023 17:43

Good evening all.

I am now 10st fucking 2 lbs.

Back on it today. Clean slate and all that.

I've also not been able to book onto my usual body pump class. So I'm doing day 1 of 30 day shred tonight.

@FamilyFuckery omg well done. Thanks for the inspiration!

I too am surrounded by temptation, and also 2 growing sons who will eat non stop carbs. Nightmare.

Happy Monday all!

BakerLea · 18/04/2023 20:49

Welcome new people!!
I've been at 9 stone 9 again last Thursday which I'm happy with. I've had one sugar session last night and back on it today, so I've skipped this week weigh in and I'll weigh on monday.
Over the weekend there must have been days I was under 10g carbs as I literally had a steak and mushrooms and then a burger with cheese later on, then another day I had salads/boiled eggs

Don't worry about those who have gained/cheated etc we are only human and we are here for a new way of eating rather than a quick fix so just keep going
I know how disheartening it is though!!

OP posts:
Mochinated · 18/04/2023 20:57

Nice to hear all the updates!

I did really well through Easter hols no choc at all. Then back to work and kids choc lying around and sad to say I just ate most of it in one go. I am eating my feelings, I just cba with work and failed to food shop or meal prep at weekend which is a kind of self sabotage 🙄

So now the week is thrown off because all I have is freezer and cupboard food in, which isn't really high enough quantities of veg to keep me on track. Grr. I've done this to myself!!!!!

CoffeeChocolateWine · 19/04/2023 16:42

Hello all. Well, as predicted I'm having a disaster. Sliding all the way down the slippery slope and overeating carbs and sugar. Feeling crap and have regained all the weight I lost in previous weeks. What a waste. I'm having a better day today so far, so I'm going to really try and make it the first step 'back on track'.

I do generally find it so much harder to lose weight and so much easier to gain weight now than I did a couple of years ago. I think it might be related to perimenopause. Anyone else going through this? Wish I knew how to push past it and boost my
metabolism. Any tips? I don't do as much exercise as I should aside from walking everywhere so that's definitely an area for improvement. But I'm struggling with plantar fasciitis at the mo which is quite limiting.

declutteringmymind · 19/04/2023 19:19

@CoffeeChocolateWine I hear you. I'm definitely perimeno- my GP told me to up my protein intake and that has been helping with multivitamins, vit D, iron and cod liver oil. I've also given up caffeine after midday (it's been hard) and upping the exercise slowly.

I do feel better but I'm a bit boring now.
