Hello! Our final weigh in at last! Thank you for joining @Oneborneverydecade and I for our first ever mini-Bootcamp. And big thanks to @ouchmyfeet for taking over Spreadsheet duties.

Speaking of... here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness on its final outing.

Normal service will be resumed next month by @BIWI for the run-up-to-Christmas Bootcamp. So no falling off the wagon stick with Bootcamp Light until the new Bootcamp starts. A sign up thread will be started in due course.

@FusionChefGeoff is starting a two-week strict Bootcamp reset starting today if anyone else would like to join in. I currently have a glut of raspberries in the garden so I won't be joining Wink but it would be a great way to get a good start on the new Bootcamp. If you're interested, here's a quick reminder of the rules for strict Bootcamp:

  1. Eat three meals a day (plus snacks if hungry)
  2. Avoid processed foods
  3. Eat lots of fat
  4. Eat plenty of vegetables and salad
  5. Be careful about dairy (apart from butter which is unlimited)
  6. Drink a minimum of 2 litres of water per day
  7. No alcohol
  8. No fruit
  9. No nut/seeds
10. No sugar or artificial sweeteners

If you're coming off the back of the mini-Bootcamp then you can skip rule 1 and only eat when you're hungry.

Thanks @StuntNun , @oneborneverydecade & @ouchmyfeet for running this bootcamp, also @biwi for checking in.
It has been an education for me as my first bootcamp, I have made lots of mistakes along the way but I’m looking forward to the next bootcamp.

Kerplunkk · 13/09/2021 06:44

Copied over as I wrote on the last thread…..

Funny you should say that @StuntNun I have been getting pins and needles in my left arm a lot and last night woke up with what felt like restless legs but In my arm! Couldn’t get to sleep for ages, just assumed it was because my B12 jab is due but could have been the electrolyte/magnesium.
I usually take magnesium supplements from H&B (not sure which form of Mag they are)
I’ve also just been having salt water/bouillon but maybe I need proper electrolytes,
What brand does everyone else use?
Sorry I know you talked about this one of the first threads but I just assumed the salt water would be fine so didn’t write down the names.

@venusandmars that holiday sounds like bliss smile

@FusionChefGeoff I am finding Roast dinners the hardest, I am a sucker for a roast potato!

Kerplunkk · 13/09/2021 06:47

-1lb this week so a total of 9lb this bootcamp + the loss of years worth of bad eating habits - I’d say that’s a total win

StuntNun · 13/09/2021 07:51

@Kerplunkk a lot of magnesium tablets are magnesium oxide which isn't bioavailable so you don't absorb it. I take magnesium glycinate because it's best for disturbed sleep.

StuntNun · 13/09/2021 07:56

@Kerplunkk for electrolytes the most important are sodium and potassium so ordinary salt isn't sufficient. Don't be fooled by Himalayan salt or any other fancy salt either, they're almost entirely sodium chloride. Lo-Salt or other low sodium salts are good because some of the sodium chloride is replaced with potassium chloride. An alternative is a pinch of salt and squeeze of lemon juice for the potassium into water. You also need calcium and magnesium which you should be able to get from food however magnesium levels are lower in modern vegetables because it's been depleted in the soil. Probably a lot of people are mildly deficient in magnesium without realising.

Thanks for this boot camp @StuntNun and @Oneborneverydecade. Ive fallen off the wagon badly unfortunately.

@FusionChefGeoff I am keen to do a two week strict boot camp. I need a reset. I am starting today.

Jollyholibobs · 13/09/2021 08:25

Well done @Kerplunkk.

Andi2020 · 13/09/2021 09:05

Thanks everyone who motivated us along the way with their general day life.
@StuntNun @Oneborneverydecade and @ouchmyfeet thanks
Total lost this bootcamp 6.8lb

FusionChefGeoff · 13/09/2021 09:07

@Jollyholibobs let's do it!! I'm a bit reluctant if I'm honest as it's been a long time since I did my first strict 2 weeks and I've got very used to all the 'extras'.

But I know I've got too used to all the extras Grin and it's showing in a very long stall at post holiday weight which I could do with shifting before Xmas.

I ate all the dark chocolate last night so I'm not tempted and will be trying to keep things simple food wise I think.

Today:

Lunch: chicken salad with dressing and Mayo - might make some coleslaw if I have time
Dinner: courgette and pepper omelette

NO SNACKS!!!!

I'm also going to reintroduce fasting which again had gone by the by post holidays.

BestIsWest · 13/09/2021 12:10

Thanks for new thread. No apparent change for me.
Going to join in with the strict no snacking - no nuts/seeds or dark choc this week. Maybe less cheese too.

Jollyholibobs · 13/09/2021 12:56

Thanks for the encouragement @FusionChefGeoff. Are you strict BC too @BestIsWest or strict no snacking ?

Have meal planned for the week will continue to 16:8 so today is

B black coffee with a purring cat for company
L avacado, blue Stilton and big pile of red cabbage a courgette hm comedy with hm Mayo.
D low carb frittata with low carb cauliflower cheese and flgv

No Greek yoghurt as it is an overeating trigger for me. This will be tough.

colouringindoors · 13/09/2021 13:10

@FusionChefGeoff I'd like to join you. Family stuff blew up my plans to join this BC. I started strict bootcamp 8 days ago and have lost 6 pounds. First target is to loose another stone.

colouringindoors · 13/09/2021 13:12

Today
lunch: avocado, cherry tomatoes and olive oil dressing
dinner: beef meatballs, tom sauce, some chargrilled med veg and green salad leaves

Veronika13 · 13/09/2021 13:21

It's about time I joined these threads! I'm forever low-carb'ing.

Today:
-breakfast: 2 handfuls of strawberries. 2 coffees with almond milk
-lunch: chicken schnitzel in low carb wrap (5g per wrap)
-snack: 2 protein bars (6g of carbs each)
-dinner: fillet steak, rocket leaves, fried egg

That's my usual eating day. Helps to write is down to cut out little extras here and there

I neeeed to lose 2 kgs and struggling with the final push!

PastramiNoRye · 13/09/2021 13:51

I've lurked a bit on these threads but I've lost 12lb. The mini bootcamp began as I was panicking about a bridesmaid dress than didn't zip up. It now fastens up and just needs taken out a bit across the bum but I'm in a much better place than 6 weeks ago so thanks so much!

I'll join you @FusionChefGeoff. I can't afford to slip up now!

BestIsWest · 13/09/2021 14:06

@Jollyholibobs I’m going to try to do strict BC this week. I may relax on Saturday to BC Lite and allow myself a couple of squares of 90% Lindt. Not half a bar like last night.

colouringindoors · 13/09/2021 14:28

I'm doing strict bootcamp with the addition of:
2 squares 85% Lindt at the end if the day if I've stuck to it.
Half bottle dry white wine on a Sat night.

If I can keep this up for a few more weeks before considering Light I'll be v pleased. No snacks def helps.

FusionChefGeoff · 13/09/2021 15:14

@colouringindoors wow that's a great start how motivating!!

@Veronika13 welcome! Now, I don't profess to be an expert but I've seen BIWI's big stick come out often enough to know that the protein bars are generally avoided if possible as we try to eat as much unprocessed food as we can.

Could you try a couple of eggs or the cheese almond muffins from the recipe thread with peanut butter on go down well with lots of bootcampers.

@BestIsWest glad someone else admits to the half a bar!

ditavonteesed · 13/09/2021 18:16

I'm not weighing in today as I've come off nights and I always seem to gain a few pounds on nights.

I'm up for a couple of strict weeks, got dd1s 18th party in 2 weeks so I'll be having a weekend off. About time I shifted the last bit of baby weight 😉

pinknsparkly · 13/09/2021 18:21

Evening all! I lost 2.1lb last week, my first week trying fasting, and a vast improvement on the 0.2lb I lost in total over the previous two weeks! I'm planning on sticking to the low carb life until the next bootcamp too, and will join you all in the countdown to Christmas!

@StuntNun - thanks for that suggestion, I'll get some magnesium and give it a go!

Also, I can't remember who suggested this on the chat but in one of the early weeks there was discussion about BWRT therapy. I found a local therapist and saw her for the first time on Saturday (for mental health reasons, rather than overeating). I was ridiculously nervous about meeting her but got on well with her and can finally see a glimmer of hope moving forwards. So thank you enormously to whoever it was that mentioned it! I think this bootcamp might genuinely change my life just from that conversation, leaving aside the potential to reverse my pre-diabetes Grin

colouringindoors · 13/09/2021 18:57

Thanks FusionChefGeoff I've been really careful with my portion sizes.... I really need to shed some weight... have lost 10 pounds twice in the last year with low carbing, but then i put it all back on 🙄

fitflopqueen · 13/09/2021 19:07

Down another 1lb so happy with that but can't add to this weeks sheet, can someone else put in 152 for me please.
Had some fruit and greek yoghurt this morning, then had a trip out so had M&S broccoli & spinach soup and a sourdough roll.

This evening lots of stir fry chard and some kale crisps topped with feta & mozzarella. Will mix it up a bit more tomorrow. Going to have some nuts and yoghurt to top up protein now.
Will be ready for next bootcamp.

Dellabob123 · 13/09/2021 20:33

Well done in losses everyone- can’t believe we are now ‘ongoing’ !

I’ve stayed the same...still pleased I lost those 2lbs after the stall that lasted forever!!

I will take that and maintain as I am am only 1lb off the target weight I set myself...so I can’t grumble.

I had a lovely crisp, fresh salad for tea with oil and feta and it was yummy. However, I have a cold and DH’s chocolate is calling me...trying v hard

Snowpaw · 13/09/2021 21:46

First time poster on these threads but long time reader and thank you for all the ideas and inspiration. I’ve dabbled in and out of low carb over the last couple of years. My partner and I have stuck to it together since the end of June this year and he’s lost in total 22lbs and a big thing is his sleep has really improved, less snoring and sleeping longer. He’s also had way less knee pain and a skin condition on his hand has cleared up! I’ve lost a lot too, I don’t really weigh myself strictly as I don’t like getting hung up on numbers but I am fitting back into lots of clothes that I had grown out of and my skin is clear after a lot of spots previously. I’ve started running again. I feel good mentally. We’re going to stick with it.
