Hello! Our final weigh in at last! Thank you for joining @Oneborneverydecade and I for our first ever mini-Bootcamp. And big thanks to @ouchmyfeet for taking over Spreadsheet duties.

Speaking of... here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness on its final outing.

Normal service will be resumed next month by @BIWI for the run-up-to-Christmas Bootcamp. So no falling off the wagon stick with Bootcamp Light until the new Bootcamp starts. A sign up thread will be started in due course.

agnesmartin I'd recommend m&s deli section for yummy cold meats, fish, seafood. just add salad/flgv and dressing/butter

BestIsWest · 24/09/2021 18:49

After a very disappointing Carvery in a local pub last night - a selection of 4 (yes FOUR) different types of potatoes plus peas, carrots, brown cabbage and cauli cheese left me with a plate of turkey and some overcooked cauli, I’m pleased to report a better day today.
Tuna Mayo lettuce wraps for lunch and celeriac ‘nachos’ with hm chilli, sour cream and a little cheese. It was divine and I have leftovers.

FusionChefGeoff · 24/09/2021 21:32

Weigh in was a bit disappointing - still going down but much slower than I hoped due to finishing my period plus 2 weeks strict BC...

But I know I've been overeating and in particular the amount of cheese that seems to disappear whilst watching TV.

So I'm adding the dark choc back in to try to use small amounts of that to replace half a pound of cheddar or massive bowls of Greek yoghurt with double cream.

Going to leave out fruit and nuts for a bit longer. We're off to Rome in 2 weeks when I will mostly abandon LC so sticking fairly strict until then.

Nice quiet weekend and hoping to fit a good long training run in on Sunday.

I'm dusting off the slow cooker for autumn - can you link / suggest your favourite LC slow cooker recipes??

venusandmars · 24/09/2021 22:03

L - whitebait with saffron mayo, then carpaccio of beef with salad. The whitebait probably had some flour on them, but not crumbed or battered.

D - mushroom stroganoff with cabbage, broccoli, spinach and extra mushrooms. A few brambles with cream.

Got dc and dgc coming tomorrow - have a vegetable and coconut curry ready, plus brambles and cream for desert (assuming theere are more brambles to pick). Will have eggs and left over veg for breakfast.

ditavonteesed · 25/09/2021 07:51

Popping my head in guiltily. I have not been good this week and I have paid on the scale, about 4lbs on.
I am off work and was planning to do all the exercise but I put my back out on Wednesday doing afore mentioned exercise. I have been sorry for my self comfort eating since then, obviously done no more exercise. The muscle relaxants the dr gave me means I have been mainly asleep since then. What an absolute waste of a week off. Now I have dd1s 18th, party today and meal out tomorrow. Which is definitely happier but also means I'm going to struggle.
Plan to be on it with a vengeance on Monday, it terrifies me how quickly it goes back on.

FusionChefGeoff · 25/09/2021 08:09

@ditavonteesed are you peri / menopausal?? I'm the same it just shoots up so quickly when it never used to at all.

But don't look at it as a waste - the universe was telling you to take a break and you did Smile

Snuck on the scales again and am another pound down overnight (my body is so random) which puts me much more in the bracket I was expecting.

Still sticking on my new Strict+ regime (someone else is doing it - sorry I can't remember who!) which is the strict rules with added dark choc Grin

Salmon salad for lunch then slow cooker gammon and veg for dinner. Was planning on trying Aldi's frozen cauliflower cheese for the first time but I do have all the ingredients for actual cauli cheese so might (get DH to) do that instead.

Happy Saturday everyone!!

ditavonteesed · 25/09/2021 08:18

@FusionChefGeoff I think I might be, definitely of the right age.
The universe was telling me I needed a break, had a bit of an emotional breakdown in my last shift before leave and though I'll do nothing for this holiday and I didn't listen until I had no choice.

Also I know with this woe it comes back off in a reasonable time frame so hopefully a couple fo weeks strict from monday will sort it out. I like the idea of strict with chocolate.

I will try and increase my exercise again from monday as well as my back is nearly better I think.

Dellabob123 · 25/09/2021 09:30

Morning all. Not posted for a few days...been a bit drained with this lingering cold. And yesterday I had some amazing happy news....I got accepted to study a Masters so we had champagne...but I did eat well all day, so, you knowSmile

Enjoy your weekends...I’m now nurturing a lovely headache Grin

fitflopqueen · 25/09/2021 10:20

Good morning, certainly starting to feel autumnal here now. I am continuing with fasting but have relaxed a bit with carbs and went to an event with free flowing champagne last night.
Small goal, my go to going out top and pants are now too big, so although the scales aren’t really shifting now the inches are.
Making a cottage pie for later, will have cauliflower mash in my portion.
Eggs then yoghurt, berries and flax/chia/seed mix for lunch.

Rayna37 · 25/09/2021 16:09

@FusionChefGeoff I like my slow cooker, the first thing that sprang to mind was the beef rendang Fast 800 recipe I got from here which I make in it: delicious. Let me know if you can't find it and I'll dig it out. Also any variation on Spanish chicken, usually with bone in thighs, canned toms, paprika, chorizo, peppers, courgette, shallots etc (and butter beans if I'm just maintaining).

pinknsparkly · 25/09/2021 22:30

Hi all! Just popping back to say that I've kept up the lowcarbing and lost 0.3kg since the bootcamp ended buuuuuutttttt way more significant, my bloods came back and I'm no longer pre-diabetic. In fact, I've reduced my HbA1c from 42 to 31 GrinGrinHalo I genuinely can't believe I've managed to reverse it quite so dramatically and feel a lot less nervous about trying for baby number two (I am 100% assuming I'll get gestational diabetes again but at least I'm not starting off as pre-diabetic!)

venusandmars · 25/09/2021 22:59

@pinknsparkly Wow!! That is great news. It is amazing (and yet not amazing becuase the science tells us that this is what should happen).

And who knows what your pregnancy will bring, maybe you can keep to this way of eating and minimise any consequences. There are several posters who have had pregnancies (following bootcamp lite) and I'm sure there will be people along to give you some good advice.

I added some chickpeas to my veg curry this evening, and some spinach. It suddenly didn't look quite enough for 3 adults and 2 hungry children, and once I'd added the chickpeas it looked a bit 'beige'. Spinach and fresh corriander sorted that out. And extra seasoning (aka more garam malasa, chilli, salt, pepper, lime) for the adults made it all very delicious. Rice and naans for the others.

Then bramble and apple pie, with cream. Mine without pastry. dgc are great at helping with all the cooking tasks. Ahh it feels like a warm family afternoon, and it smells of autumn... looks longingly at pictures of wood burning stoves

StripyTShirt · 26/09/2021 03:30

Hey Grin

I weighed in 5lbs lighter yesterday after 5 days, only weighed as was BILs 30th so knew there would be cake but quite liking a Saturday weigh in so will be doing that from now in.

Apart from a really delicious chocolate cake, I had some curry cauliflower soup with 2 SLCRs slathered in butter.

Egg fast tomorrow, ready for Monday

Grin
ditavonteesed · 26/09/2021 06:35

@pinknsparkly that's amazing news.

FusionChefGeoff · 26/09/2021 08:12

@pinknsparkly now that is a serious achievement and what great evidence that this woe is massively beneficial to health.

@venusandmars I love chickpeas / lentils etc but have been avoiding them since I started this. Do you have them on maintenance and in moderation I presume so make sure rest of meal / rest of day / rest of week is super low??

My fecking overeating has kicked back in (it never really leaves I don't think Sad)

Yesterday ended up in a cafe at 10 and I usually fast but treated myself to muffin-less eggs Benedict. Amazing!!

Then made green soup for a light lunch.

But was prepping dinner and dived into a tonne of cheese and Mayo and a load of smoked salmon on cucumber with Mayo topping. Not hungry. Not even that bored. Just greedy.

Then gorgeous gammon with cauli cheese, green beans and red cabbage - happy days.

But oh no, had to stuff myself silly then follow up with 1/2 bar 85% dark choc AND bowl of Greek yog with double cream.

What is wrong with me!!!! Why can't I just eat on hunger??

venusandmars · 26/09/2021 10:47

@FusionChefGeoff yes, I've got a few pounds to lose, ideally before an event in November, so I'm mainly strict bc at the moment. But my BMI is now in the normal range so I don't stress too much over a few chick peas - but only very occasionaly. I see this as a way of eating for the rest of my life, so sometimes I've got to do things that make life workable. Dc's visit are particularly challenging - dc is not a meat eater and dgc have cmp allergy, so no dairy and not much soya. Vegan works best but more of a challenge for low carb and high fat. Add in the preferences of young children...

No idea what is in store for today. There are lots of left-overs but I've earmarked most of them for dh - he planned to go away for a couple of nights, although he is now prevaricating and watching the cycling on TV instead. I think I'll rummage in the freezer for some nice green soup, and I've also got a courgette dish that I can add a few nuts to...

So I think this will be my plan...
B - coffee
L - green soup, boiled egg with butter
D - Egyptian courgettes with nuts

colouringindoors · 26/09/2021 12:28

Weight gain on today's weigh in (since Fri). Not a surprise I've more than one glass of wine each night....

Back on the wagon today!

And am recruiting my sister to bootcamp after talking to her about it yesterday!

Dellabob123 · 26/09/2021 12:31

Well done on all the good news everyone.

No change here. But just decided to make a quick green veg with all the veg I had. Forgot how yummy it was. Even ds said so!!! Have managed to get 3 extra portions to freeze. Bonus.

Roast dinner tonight, sans potatoes for me.

FusionChefGeoff · 26/09/2021 13:56

What does everyone do for their green veg soup? Mine is frozen broccoli stalks, cauli leaves, leek tops etc that I stash until
I have a bag full. Then I fry some shallots, add all the veg and water and bouillon with a bit of white pepper.

Any other secret ingredients?

venusandmars · 26/09/2021 15:17

Butter, lots of it. Sometimes cheese, esp blue cheese. It sometimes looks a bit grey so I add vibrant green things raw - watercress, parsley, corriander...

Dellabob123 · 26/09/2021 15:27

Fried onion and celery. Courgette, kale and spinach, chicken stock and then squeeze of lemon at end. Often stir in a whirl of whipping cream and splashed of Stilton when served.

BestIsWest · 26/09/2021 18:03

Went to Ikea today to get a few things for DD’s new flat and ended up having lunch there as DH couldn’t pass up the meatballs. There was a salmon fillet on offer but only with some potato, onion and cabbage cakes so I ended up with that. I honestly felt a bit sick afterwards. Especially as we ended up with nothing as the queue to pay was all the way back through the warehouse section almost to the photo frames. Got what she needed in Argos instead.

pinknsparkly · 26/09/2021 18:21

Thanks all! It's definitely given me a massive boost in terms of incentive to continue this way of eating. I knew it was the right thing to do in terms of my blood sugar but seeing it so clearly has really convinced me of the need to eat this way long term!

@venusandmars - my husband is getting a little bit tired of the amount of meat we're eating on this WOE so I'm also going to try some of the veggie recipes from this group. Though I suspect they may be cheese heavy instead Grin

venusandmars · 26/09/2021 23:03

@pinknsparkly does he eat fish? I made this recipe today: we had red cabbage asian slaw plus a cucumber and carrot thing. dh had noodles.

Also with dh I balance out his plate with a big carb serving. So we might have similar amounts of meat, similar amounts of veg, he has rice/potato/pasta, and I have butter.

ditavonteesed · 27/09/2021 06:45

Today I am on it, I have out on quite a bit over the last week with dds 18th and my back. I can walk again so I shall be walking but not risking any other exercise. Strict boot camp for as long as it takes to get back to my target.

I feel bloated, lethargic snd generally not good. This woe suits me, I normally feel energised and I had forgotten how much my stomach hurts when I eat carbs.
