I'm starting a Follow on thread for Week 1 as we've been so busy chatting and supporting each other, while there is still space to link to it on the first thread Smile

@Bestbees it's even worse when you cheat and it turns out to be a disappointment!

I remember when Wispa was reintroduced, after years of being discontinued. I couldn't wait to have one, even though I knew it would be way too many carbs. But how disappointing that was. It was like eating candle wax. (I imagine - I have never actually tried candle wax!)

BrassicaBabe · 18/04/2021 10:26

Quick, lock that 5lbs in now pretty! Grin

Momsincharge · 18/04/2021 10:28

@BIWI

3.1 grams, bought at Aldi. A little bit like rubber bands in colour, shape and texture, but bland in flavour. Works just fine as a vehicle for a sauce.

@BIWI exactly! Though to be fair maybe that's the lesson. There is rarely food worth the slip . In contrast my dinner of courgetti sautéed in oil, bolagnase, cheese and a side of buttery psb was delicious! I did rush it down as dealing with a kiddie potential melt down, which might have lead to the eating later.

venusandmars · 18/04/2021 10:33

Strange day here foodwise, and a bit off plan, although I've been doing this pretty straight since Christmas so please forgive me BIWI

SILs are coming for afternoon tea, in the garden. Haven't seen one of them since August. SIL's dh is doing fast800 so no bread and cakes for him (or for me). So I've made the cheesy almond muffins (little mini ones), some sausage and red pepper patties, tiny open sandwiches - the protein rye bread at 4g carb per slice (just enough for half a slice each) topped with cream cheese, smoked salmon and cucumber, and I'm just about to make the diet doctor chocolate cake (in individual muffin cases, topped some cream / yogurt mix and a couple of raspberries). I've got out a tea set that was my Dad's grandmother's wedding china.

It's all a bit celebratory in advance of dh's birthday, which the rules will prevent us from being together for. V elderly PILs )who we will see on actual birthday), makes the numbers too high, plus frailty means we will have to be indoors with them, as part of their 'care and support'.

So food today:
B - coffee with cream plus 'testing' all the cooking as it comes out of the oven Grin
L - afternoon tea, as above
D - green veg soup

Jellycatspyjamas · 18/04/2021 10:33

Thank @prettybird, my engagement ring came from there too - they have really lovely things and I like that they don’t try to oversell, they try to find the right thing regardless of price and don’t show you things outside of your budget.

Yesterday wasn’t the best for me - the barbecue at my sisters turned into pizza, so I’ll just draw a line under that and move on I think. Today’s food

B. Sausage sandwich on SLC bread
L. Greek yoghurt and cinnamon
D roast chicken with all the veggies

I need to up my water intake, it’s too easy to forget to drink when I’m pottering about at home so that’s my focus for today (also flushing out the carby pizza).

BIWI · 18/04/2021 10:40

That sounds lovely @venusandmars!

@Momsincharge I'll have to look out for that. I wish Aldi did online deliveries. They don't even have a click and collect service in our area.

Momsincharge · 18/04/2021 10:47

Cute Ewe! @BrassicaBabe

Oneborneverydecade · 18/04/2021 10:50

No Aldi here either, though I'm not sure I fancy the elastic band pasta sub ha

I agree with the description of wispa as like candle wax - so odd

Thank you for the kind comments about Mum's handmade jacket. @Angliski DD is 3 in a week or so. So tempted to sign her up for the Bee

I've bought a courgette and feta for @StuntNun 's salad, it'll probably be a picnic on another f**king walk

prettybird · 18/04/2021 10:51

@Jellycatspyjamas - my engagement ring is not from there. Unfortunately Wink We went into Mappin & Webb early on in our search (doing the obligatory trawl through all the jewellery shops in Argyll Arcade Grin) and they showed me a large oval diamond solitaire that was a third over our budget Shock and which we hadn't even asked to see which looked perfect on my finger Shock I hadn't even wanted a solitaire, I'd visualised something more modern Confused and we then spent 4 weeks looking for an alternative that was as nice (including going to McIntryres) and even considered having one made, before going back to Mappin & Webb Shock

Sign Mum up not DD Confused

Yes @BrassicaBabe gorgeous!

prettybird · 18/04/2021 10:54

@Oneborneverydecade - I forgot to buy the rocket for courgette, feta and mint salad, but it works fine without it Wink

Morning all. Off topic but hey, worst night sweats ever last night. Awful. Had to strip sheets. Joys of peri-menopause.... assuming therefore that I'm pretty dehydrated!

B greek yog
L omlette and salad
D chicken "curry" and veg

Momsincharge · 18/04/2021 11:37

Breakfast set up for the week. Not sure about lunches though:

Random789 · 18/04/2021 11:39

I get terrible night sweats sometimes, coulouringindoors, worsened by sertraline I think. But they do seem to be worse when I eat in a very out-of-control way -- lots of snacks late at night. I'm pretty sure that when I eat very sensibly, and have nothing later than dinner, I can keep them under control. So if low carbing continues to help me keep on top of my cravings, reduced night sweats might be another benefit of it.

nowlook · 18/04/2021 11:39

@Random789

I googled Cathy Twat just to see if there was some poor soul who actually has that name and is being blamed here for everyone's relapses. Bootcamp is the second google result, and every other result on the page is porn -- as I should have anticipated if I hadn't been suh a doe-eyed numpty.

BIWI · 18/04/2021 11:45

Low carbing definitely helped me when I was going through the menopause. Apparently also cutting down/out caffeine and alcohol. Although I ignored both of those

nowlook · 18/04/2021 11:45

"You see, the thing is officer, I was wondering whether there was a real person called Cathy Twat because once (you'll love this!) on Bootcamp there was this, like, typo? MilesJuppIsMyBitch meant to say carby twat and actually put cathy twat? And then-

"Erm, what are those cuffs for?"

BIWI · 18/04/2021 11:45

I can also recommend Boots Menolieve. That really helped too.

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 18/04/2021 11:45

Tried the bare naked noodles the other day and not a fan at all, think I'll just stick with not having noodles/pasta. Have been using lettuce leaves to scoop up bolognaise/taco meat and such which is fine.

Had a preemptive weigh this morning and 172lb down from 175 last Monday. If I can hold onto that till tomorrow morning I'll be happy.

TheHoover · 18/04/2021 11:52

Haha random googling Cathy Twat!
I once needed to buy a new back door and had a quick google.....BlushConfusedShock

BIWI · 18/04/2021 11:55

When I was working, I was trying to put together a mood board to bring to life a particular concept we wanted to research. So looking for the right images I Googled 'mature ladies'.

Don't ever, ever do that.

venusandmars · 18/04/2021 12:03

Just posting this here in readiness for bootcamp lite, look away now if you're tempted. In my cooking and 'tasting' session, I exerimented with cutting a mini-almond-cheese-muffin in half, buttered it and put a mini sausage patty in the middle. OMG just amazing. They're like those little mini sliders. And very rich so one or two would be plenty. They really are tiny. I've made some up ready for our afternoon tea. The rest of the muffins and the sausage patties are in the freezer, with the door locked.

venusandmars · 18/04/2021 12:12

Great-grandmother's china. Little teacup for size comparison.
