I'm starting a Follow on thread for Week 1 as we've been so busy chatting and supporting each other, while there is still space to link to it on the first thread Smile

@nowlook we need to see the sequin bikini or it didn't happen Grin

@Angliski such a lovely age

Just had a phone call inviting me for my vaccine this evening. Woop

I've never been a fan of vegetables but I'm honestly mourning the end of sprout season AND I've just bulk bought my favourite salad dressing (mellow yellow classic vinaigrette). Still love cake sadly

Off topic but I'd like to show you the jacket my mum has made for DD please. She'd be perfect for Sewing Bee (the bar seems especially low this series!) but won't apply

I've been to an opening event for my lovely friends cafe today, dd and dh had lovely cake and tea and I had an equally lovely black coffee. Giving myself smug points now.

Linnet · 17/04/2021 16:09

I forgot to post yesterday. It was a weird day for me.
I missed breakfast
L leftover meatloaf and some cucumber
D chorizo and cheese omelette

I had a stinking headache from 4pm onwards, it wasn’t lack of water as I got through 3L yesterday but I think I maybe didn’t eat enough at lunchtime. Was it headaches that you’ve to drink water with salt in it for? I’m also feeling really tired and heading off to bed a bit earlier than usual, hoping that will pass. And I have a bit of a nasty taste in my mouth as well, hoping that’s a good thing.

Today I’ve had
B Greek yogurt with cinnamon
L chicken wings and salad
D is going to be Thai green curry with veg.

Timetobuckup · 17/04/2021 16:19

@Oneborneverydecade That is gorgeous, you have a very talented Mum.

@Angliski love a new cookbook. I assume you would recommend?

So far so good today, I have been mainly catching up on the studying that I have failed to do for weeks. Feeling a bit more on top of it now thankfully. I wish I could be an organised disciplined type .

Food today
B- Boiled eggs (no idea how I would manage this without eggs)
L- Tuna salad with lemon mayo
D- Sausage tray bake I think .

nowlook · 17/04/2021 18:44

Oh wow @Oneborneverydecade! What a talented mum you have. Could she rustle one up in a size 12 8? Grin

Oneborneverydecade · 17/04/2021 18:49

Thank you @Timetobuckup and @nowlook I have genuinely asked her to make me a more muted one Smile

nowlook · 17/04/2021 18:55

Yes @Oneborneverydecade, it reminds me of those Kantha jackets that are very on-trend kantha

Does anyone else find themselves using food as almost entertainment? I've been reasonably busy this week and have really been enjoying eating FTGV and really thought I had broken through the point at which I can eat and enjoy good but not constantly be engaged in thinking about it.

This afternoon I haven't really done very much and find my thoughts sliding away towards food. I'm not hungry, have drunk my water targets. Breakfast was two scrambled eggs on wilted buttery spinach and lunch lots of salad (cucumber, leaves, celery, raw cabbage, single portion pack feta cheese with fresh herbs two lamb chops.

All afternoon I keep thinking of what else I could eat. I'm really not hungry so is it just that I want the entertainment of cooking and eating. If I had spotted this earlier I should have given myself some files to clear out.

Hi everyone, lovely day isn’t it!
Me and the kids have been outside most of the day, which they love. DH doing his silly lates and I’m the one who got up with them so it has been a long day and I am so ready for them to go to bed!
We are going to a new park tomorrow and taking a picnic, just bought some fab cool bags, i’m planning my low carb lunch already!
Tea was a random mix of stuff in the fridge, sainsburys premium brand sausages, a fried egg & sprouts & mushrooms fried in butter. Was delicious. Not sure if I am on my third or fourth litre of water though Confused but nevermind!

Angliski · 17/04/2021 19:16

@Oneborneverydecade that is gorgeous! How old is dd? Your mum is soooo talented! Can you secretly enter her to The Bee?

Angliski · 17/04/2021 19:18

Day done. Breakfast scramble with veggies and salmon and turmeric
Lunch cauli cheese no flour, pork stir fry
Dinner grilled mackerel with labneh purple broccoli, reg broccoli, chorizo and some fresh anchovies. Might have some yoghurt too in a bit.

DH and I are going on our first date since per baby . Probably just a beer for him and yes for me on the beach. But still!!!

Random789 · 17/04/2021 19:19

Thanks, MrsKoala for the info about your experience of cooking swede in the microwave. It sounds like it wasn't the miracle experience that was promised in the article i read!

I've had quite a good day today. Missed breakfast, not really intentionally, just overtaken by stuff happening. Lunch was a large cheesy omlette with courgettes and rocket.
For dinner I had a mad and slovenly fish combo - salmon and cod and tuna cooked up together in butter, with a large side of savoy cabbage. Some spoonfuls of Greek yoghurt for pud.

Going to the supermarket tomorrow so will stock up on mre interesting ingredients.

Went to gym and it went really well. I think that using a cross-country skiiing machine is better than going running if your energy levels aren't brilliant. I think when i'm tired my running style isn't good and it becomes very concussing of my aged knees. The machine is kinder.

Having said that, I think my energy levels might have picked up a little bit. And I've lost two kilos since monday, which is good given that I haven't felt deprived and hungry. I do hope it isn't just a flash in the pan.

BIWI · 17/04/2021 19:34

2 kilos since Monday is brilliant!

BIWI · 17/04/2021 19:38

Lovely stir fry this evening

  • Turkey steaks, sliced and marinated in sesame and olive oil, with garlic, ginger, Chinese five spice, chilli powder, cumin and coriander and juice of half a lemon
  • 2 packs of Asda frozen cauliflower rice, fried along with two diced shallots, a chopped red chilli and 3 thin omelettes, sliced up
  • I fried the turkey till just browned, and then added to the cauliflower rice, along with a good dollop of soy sauce
  • served with tenderstem broccoli, which I had roasted with onion and then dressed with sesame oil and ponzu soy sauce
BlueLilyLilyBlue · 17/04/2021 19:56

Just a quick check in
B - greek yoghurt and peanut butter, cream coffee
L - egg cheese and mayo salad
D - low carb yuk sung in iceberg lettuce
Don't think I've drunk enough water today, need to bring it up.

nowlook · 17/04/2021 19:58

Not to brag, but THREE celeriacs arrived this evening in the Morrisons delivery Grin

@BIWI that supper/banquet sounds amazing. I'm more of a Saturday night omelette girl (cheese, bacon, mushrooms and shallots).

prettybird · 17/04/2021 20:14

Had a productive day today: prepared and painted the rose arch (only been meaning to do it for over 5 years Blush) and then had our first braai of the season. I made my special pork burgers (secret ingredient: Worcestershire sauce) and Lidl pork sausages (nice and low carb), served with braaied asparagus, the courgette, feta and mint salad and a tomato, cucumber, spring onion and basil salad . I had water infused with mint, cucumber and raspberry while dh enjoyed one of the South African Carignan wines that we supply Smile It's getting cold outside now but we've loaded up the braai/ fire pit with wood to keep us warm for the moment.

Just caught up on thread love reading what everyone eats for inspiration.
Can you eat Swede (turnip) in first 2 weeks it's one off my favourite and dd2 so got one In shopping.
@nowlook about the spreadsheet question I use spreadsheets for work you can sort the foods on weight if you need any guidance when I'm back at computer on Monday I can write down steps and PM you. Had 1.5 pounds off in my first 3 days proud off myself but feel weak as my blood pressure high when at doctors on Wednesday take a tablet for it probably need to increase dosage.

BestIsWest · 17/04/2021 21:21

The salt and pepper ribs takeaway was perfect . Just ribs, salty and peppery with some stirfried bell peppers. Didn’t need salad.

Breakfast was eggs and butter and lunch was chicken and avocado. On target with water.
Traditionally DH and I share a bar of choc on a Saturday night so I am going to have to watch him eat it. Might have done cheeses if it gets too much for me.

Xiaohei · 17/04/2021 21:40

I was very apprehensive when ribboning my raw courgettes for the courgette, feta and mint salad....and I couldn’t have been more wrong! It was amazing! And if I ever had to bring a ‘side’ to a BBQ in future I would defo bring this dish. Did a dressing of extra virgin olive oil and a squeeze of lemon. Great recipe, thanks 👍

Momsincharge · 17/04/2021 22:19

Breakfast: 2 egg spinach and goat cheese omelet
Lunch: green salad with ham hock, cheese and tomatoes, oil and vinegar
Dinner: spaghetti Bol with Aldi soy spaghetti
Snack: baby bell cheese

venusandmars · 17/04/2021 23:00

@Andi2020 I started eating low carb because I had catastrophically high blood pressure. I'd made some lifestyle changes (gentle walking exercise, lost some weight etc) but as I researched I read more and more about the beneficial impact of low carb (and higher fat). ON this kind of eating I lost more weight but more importantly my blood pressure has more or less stabilised at an acceptable level, and I no longer have to take medication.

If you are going to follow this way of eating, you should talk to your doctor before you take any additional medication. You might find that your blood pressure reduces...

MrsOmelette · 18/04/2021 05:51

@Oneborneverydecade your Mum is very talented, what a gorgeous design.

I’m having a difficult week food wise, I’m still managing to be low carb but am constantly (feeling) hungry and eating huge amounts is doing nothing to stop it. And the amounts must be upping the carbs too. Came so close to snarfing biscuits last night, yet have done this for 14 weeks so far with few issues. Think I’ll eat whatever amount I need to today then weigh in tomorrow, accept it, and use the start of a new week as new focus.

ditavonteesed · 18/04/2021 05:57

@MrsOmelette I still get occasional hungry days, usually around my period, I just go with it while sticking low carb, usually out on but lose pit again in a day or 2.

Stepharoo78 · 18/04/2021 06:59

Hope it’s not too late but could I join please? I’ve cut out carbs for the last couple of weeks comboed with drinking more water but I don’t really know what I’m doing so it would be good to join a proper plan!!!
