I'm starting a Follow on thread for Week 1 as we've been so busy chatting and supporting each other, while there is still space to link to it on the first thread Smile

I use this on my swedes, so yes, it’s a kitchen axe Grin

@Oneborneverydecade oooh where is this rooftop bar? Hastings is my nearest coast so we are there a lot. I buy the best mackerel straight from the fisherman’s huts there —and then spend far too much on dressed crabs—

@Jollyholibobs - would this type of “cereal” - hit the spot? www.planetorganic.com/products/paleo-foods-company-almond-pecan-granola-285g?variant=37305619087517&currency=GBP&gclid=CjwKCAjwjuqDBhAGEiwAdX2cj3aa5hdYp0tXrjBXV4Wi46NYSI1J3xY6Bii9EpWVM02kl4mULwgYRxoChsgQAvD_BwE
They have it in Sainsburys often on offer (£3) and do a raspberry one as well as the pecan one. My DH lives if and has it with GReek yog and berries.

Random789 · 17/04/2021 10:31

Oooh, yay, kitchen axe. Might look into that

Ryana thanks for the yoga link. I've bookmarked it. I love Adriene. She is so nice without being at all saccharine (and I know we aren't allowed artificial sweetners) -- she never tells us we are 'Ahhsome'! or tht we have done a 'Good jaahhb!'

At the start of lockdown I started following a 30-day programme of hers but eventually I settled on one 10-min video she has on amazon prime (probably also on youtube) called something like Hips and Core Vinyasa. I do it about 4 times a week. It feels just right for me

venusandmars · 17/04/2021 10:48

It's a lovely day here, and everyone is out and about enjoying the sunshine. dh has gone for a long walk in the hills. Me?? Well I messed around all week doing f-all work and I'm now on a deadline for 3 things, one due today, one due yesterday and one due first thing on Monday morning Angry with myself for being such a lazybones during the week and Sad that I wasted so much time and I'm still wasting time and not getting on with said work

Also I asked dh what he wanted for dinner tonight - "don't mind" (his usual reply). Got up this morning to discover a note requesting a special dish which is a spiced butternut squash lasagne with carrot and lemongrass broth. It is truly delicious and amazing flavours but a) it takes an age to make it (and time is not on my side today) and b) I can avoid the lasagne, but not the butternut squash or carrot!! Arghhhh!!! And he so rarely asks for anything. I think perhaps the supermarket might have 'run out of squash'.

B - poached eggs on buttery spinach
L - green soup
D - ???

Good luck with your fasting @ZiggZagg . Glad to hear this woe can support rather than hinder.

Congrats for seeing off Cathy & finding your inner Pam @FusionChefGeoff 💪

@OnceUponAMidnightBeery I'm post-menopause, but I find that my hot flushes just STOP after week one; and they're usually pretty intense. Hopefully that means it has a soothing affect on the raging hormones.

@MrsKoala just reading all that made me shiver. I want to run you a nice hot bath.

@Angliski I'm always ravenous when I haven't had enough sleep! I think that's normal: sure I've read some Actual Science about it somewhere.

@MotherBuckets sorry to hear about the positivetests: hope you're feeling ok Thanks

My NSV this week was not missing my Friday night drink. I usually have a mini bottle of Prosecco, and a mini bottle of red wine. I think I actually felt more relaxed without them last night. This is big for me.

Jellycatspyjamas · 17/04/2021 10:55

Someone posted about “trousers of truth”, which I thought was a fab idea but looking through my wardrobe I realised I have a bracelet I’ve never been able to wear because my wrists are too big, which actually fastened this morning - just and no more - I think I’m going to use it as a measure/milestone. Not as obviously apparent in terms of weight loss as trousers (and I do have clothes that are too tight), but good I that if my wrists are smaller the rest of me must be too.

Rshard · 17/04/2021 11:05

Still scared by childhood holidays in Skeg nowlook!

Thanks rayna for the yoga link, also love Adrienne but haven’t done any for ages so will give this a whirl

That’s a great NSV jellycats!

MrsKoala · 17/04/2021 11:13

@Random789 I think it’s technically called a meat cleaver (all the butchery types on the thread may know better tho) but here it’s definitely a swede axe. If the fight like a knight workshop yesterday has taught me anything it’s look it square in the eye visualise —Nigel Farage—something that makes you angry and split it right down the the middle in one clean sword action. Grin

Makegoodchoices · 17/04/2021 11:32

Late start to breakfast for the day and many pounds lighter - sadly of the £££ variety, as I’ve just bought new glasses and sunglasses.

Now got to do water catchup as I didn’t fancy the public toilets in town.

Today will be:
B: Greek yog
L: Salad with halloumi
D: Roast chicken, green beans and celeriac dauphinoise. I’m not a celeriac fan but will see how it goes.

All this talk of sheep makes me want to go out and watch the lambs, sounds like an afternoon plan.

Rayna37 · 17/04/2021 11:42

You know that moment when your omelette is just perfect? Today, with 2 eggs, avocado and Cheshire cheese. I bought the avocado "reduced for quick sale" A WEEK AGO and it was finally ripe, today.

I never had a swede/celeriac axe so I married one. Six years next month. What a hero.

I bought some electrolyte powder months ago on Stuntnun's recommendation and having recently opened it, I have to say it's foul Confused can just about tolerate it in a glass of Aldi own brand berocca. Hopefully the salty taste just means I'm not lacking in electrolytes!

BIWI · 17/04/2021 11:42

@Jollyholibobs

There's a lovely recipe on the vegetarian thread for low carb granola, which might hit the spot? (Sadly it's nut based, so not suitable for these first two weeks, but might be worth having in your 'armoury' for later)

BestIsWest · 17/04/2021 11:52

What’s good to have for a takeaway on this WOE. Probably Chinese. Was thinking Salt and pepper spare ribs but with what?

nowlook · 17/04/2021 11:56

Oh, me too @Rshard Grin. My auntie had a static caravan. The only month she wasn't allowed to live there was February- it always felt cruel that it was a mere 28 days long Wink

Well done on the (lack of) wine Miles. I agree about the anxiety. So easy to forget though and slip back into old habits. I did dry Jan and Feb. So far, March and April have been a bit moist, so need to redouble efforts there.

I've just involuntarily shuddered at the mention of public conveniences Makegood.

Show us yer bracelet then jellycats Grin I'd love willowy limbs which would support stacked bangles. I end up looking like a newborn with an identity bracelet.

As some of you know, I avoid exercise (and I'm certainly not going to suffer Adrienne inviting me to invite my chin towards my chest). But, on the topic of chests, mine's just not shrinking. It could just be that I'm older now (42 like all of you), but I would like to be a D rather than an E cup again.

Any tips for a form of exercise that might help shift it?

BIWI · 17/04/2021 11:56
@BIWI I found the counts on this site: mobile.fatsecret.co.uk/
I'm really taken aback by that site!

I've checked Tesco's website - and they give celeriac as 2.3g carbs per 100g. How could two of the UK's biggest supermarkets be wrong?! Shock

TBH, given that celeriac is so widely touted as a great low carb/keto food, I can't believe that it's as carby as that site would say.

BIWI · 17/04/2021 11:58

... however, Waitrose also has it at 9.2g Hmm

Not sure what to believe now!

Duck with mushrooms for me! And obviously crispy shredded duck sans pancakes. One of the thin soups.

I've really missed seeing people's menus!

In terms of takeaways generally, Lebanese/greek/turkish are typically the best bet for me. Basically a kebab without the bread!

nowlook · 17/04/2021 12:01

@BIWI

It's madness. I was looking for a good half an hour this morning. No-one seems to agree on the carb count of a bloody celeriac. Surely, someone can just work it out once and for all (StuntNun?)

I think the Diet Doctor has it as 6...

Oddbutnotodd · 17/04/2021 12:01

The granola linked above is 17g carbs per hundred gram so probably not suitable. You’d be better adding a small amount of something like Linwoods nut/seed mixes; obviously in Bootcamp light.

Momsincharge · 17/04/2021 12:07

I think the key take away regarding celeriac is that it is no more than half the carbs of potatoes, and probably less.

BIWI · 17/04/2021 12:07

@BestIsWest if you know the takeaway you're planning to use, see if they have a website and then post the link here so we can help.

Personally I'd go for lettuce wraps, if they do them.

nowlook · 17/04/2021 12:12

Ok, I can relax @Momsincharge and @BIWI. The McCance and Widdowson dataset has it at 2.3g (raw) and 1.9g (boiled)

I have the dry spare ribs and chicken in black bean (iirc that’s the lowest carb one I could find when I researched it a while back and was advised on previous BCs) and home made cauliflower rice whilst h goes to collect it.

Just went to start my slow cooker beef shin and ds1 reminded me I’d promised a wagamamas fakeaway tonight. So I’ll be having, spare ribs, chicken skewers and stir fried chicken and green peppers in some kind of Lc sauce I make up and cauliflower rice instead and beef shin tomorrow.

nowlook · 17/04/2021 12:13

(and you want tab 1.3 Proximates on the spreadsheet)

BIWI · 17/04/2021 12:19

Brilliant @nowlook! I knew there must be an official source somewhere. Just wonder why some of the carb counts are so wildly different.

nowlook · 17/04/2021 12:21

I know @BIWI! Confused

That spreadsheet is a good way to lose a couple of hours, I reckon Grin
