Hi, sorry if it has been explained before but I looked for a flax toast recipe and it said a portion a
Had less than 1g of carbs but 5g of fiber. Wouldn't that be the an almost 6g of carbs?

BIWI · 08/08/2014 21:25

DrinkFeck - that sounds like you were looking at an American site. They include fibre in the carb count.

Hello everyone, had an exceptionally busy week but I have still managed to stick with it for the most part. I can definitely testify that hunger isn't a bit problem, and neither is emotional eating as a result, so that's helped me stick to the three meals a day (with the odd snack of olives). Drinking loads of water. Think I can feel clothes getting looser. Definitely not going to the loo as much Blush so hoping whatever needs to process and get out does so before my weigh-in on Monday! Scales are currently showing a loss, hope it still does come Monday.

I have my DSDs coming for a sleepover on Sunday night, that will be tricky. But think I can do it, with some planning. Fingers crossed.

questions2008 · 08/08/2014 21:49

Today I'm a bit achey from the running and also been taking Ds to a local park past few days there they have gym equipment and did a few sets of upper body stuff while he was playing. I like feeling the burn in muscles after exercise, makes me feel like it's "working". Scales ain't moving though.

Had cod and bits of mixed seafood for dinner with green beans.

ready lack of sleep is so debilitating, you did well just to have milk!

Iam I so agree with you about hunger, first two weeks I was snacking between meals, but now I just don't feel the need anymore and stick with 3 meals a day. Not forced, just lack of hunger in between and therefore not thinking about the next thing I can stuff into my mouth Grin.

Eurgh, I'm back into carb flu after my falling off the wagon earlier this week. Confused Just sent dh for some paracetamol. My own fault.

Today's meals-

B- pork steak ( yes it's my fourth in two days but lidl did packs if four for £1.19 last weekend so I stocked up) with cabbage fried with bacon, butter and shallots. A dinner for breakfast but delicious and enough to see me through taking dc to swim this morning.

L- carbonara couretti - with yellow courgettes to make ghe illusion even more effective Wink

D- Sunday dinner. I bought a lidl chicken yesterday and the other thread has convinced me to cook it today just in caseGrin

S- mozzarella balls wrapped in basil leaves

readyforno2 · 09/08/2014 12:55

Pregnantpause, how was the carbonara? That's my ultimate favourite meal. Might have to give it a go!!

ImATotJeSuisUneTot · 09/08/2014 13:31

Afternoon All!

Just back from a rubbish, cover instructor spin class.

Weathers nice here, so it's BBQ for tea. DP is convinced it'll be the last chance this year. Hmm

So, Breakfast - Cheese Omelette

lunch- chicken and bacon salad

Dinner - homemade turkey kebabs, homemade burgers, chicken drumsticks, low carb sausages and hot wings. With lots of salad. Grin

Definitely want to try cougetti carbonara now it's been mentioned. Yum.

pregnantpause · 09/08/2014 14:17

Just finished the carbonara- it was amazing. I would highly recommend it- the courgette cut into strips ( long julienne) and fried in butter does have a very spaghetti like texture and superior taste. It folds nicely into the sauce too. Lovely.

Can't face a roast later though- the carbonara was a lot richer and more filling than I'd imagined.

StuntNun · 09/08/2014 15:58

DH was going to make spaghetti carbonara for me tonight until I pointed out that spaghetti was off the menu. He flat refused to even try courgetti carbonara. Dammit, I love courgettes as well. Well we're having swordfish instead so that will be a rare treat.

Badvoc123 · 09/08/2014 17:45

Can I have the recipe for courgette carbonara please? X

ImATotJeSuisUneTot · 09/08/2014 18:47

Oh my gosh. I'm stuffed. I actually probably had a third of what I'd 'usually' have.

I had one homemade 1/4lb burger (no bun, obvs)
One hot wing
Three spicy sausages
One turkey kebab.

I'm so full. But it's not actually that much food, is it.

I don't know what point I'm trying to make. GrinHmmGrin

Firsttimer7259 · 09/08/2014 18:48

Ugh - horrible carb flu after eating a pastry. We'd invited friends over for coffee and I felt churlish not eating along w others. It's lasted all day. Does anything help reduce this - I'm ok w stalled weightloss but hate losing days to tiredness. I feel like it gets worse the longer I low carb

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 09/08/2014 18:53

Lunch was deli meats and cheese, pepperoni with melted cheese on top.

Dinner was 2 bagels, one with sausage, egg and cheese and sugar free brown sauce and one with bacon, cheese and sf brown sauce. So full and soo happy. I really missed a bagel!

BestIsWest · 09/08/2014 19:02

I am on a bit of a stall by the looks of it. Although I have clearly lost more weight judging by my clothes it's not really showing on the scales.

Anyway, keep plodding on.
B - Greek yoghurt.
L - Greek salad
D- Thai green curry.

I have had 2 cups to tea with milk (normally have it black or with lacto free milk) and a coffee with cream and 1 litre of water. I am really struggling with the water.

readyforno2 · 09/08/2014 19:02

Courgetti carbonara was delicious! Great idea! Thanks

pregnantpause · 09/08/2014 19:58

Firsttime- I think the flu does get worse, when I started I didn't have the carb flu that others described- having fallen off the wagon and restarted this week I'm tired, headaches and shaking. I think, though biwi can correct me if I'm wrong, that after stabilising your blood sugars and insulin release lcing, your body's thrown back into the carbs and is a bit more shocked by the changing back. But I made that up, it makes sense to me though.

Badoc- I sliced my courgettes into long thin julienne, and fried them in lots of butter. Meanwhile I fried chopped bacon and shallots, and added a chopped garlic clove toward the end ( neither garlic nor shallots or traditional but I like them) I grated 35gparmesan into a cup and added a beaten egg and 1 egg yolk, and loads of black pepper to the cheese.
Combine your bacon mix with your courgette, take off the heat and mix in egg cheese sauce- the heat in the food will melt cheese and cook the egg enough for the sauce- same as in trad carbonara .

BIWI · 09/08/2014 20:05

Don't forget, Best that it isn't unusual for weight loss to stop in weeks 3 and or 4. Keep on keeping on and you'll be fine

Can anyone recommend a julienne peeler? I looked at the reviews on Amazon and they all seem to focus on how dangerous the peelers are. And is this spiraliser thing actually any good?

BIWI · 09/08/2014 20:10

I saw it being used on Saturday Kitchen and it looked fab! It's actually out of stock on Amazon and there's a note on the website saying that they don't know when it will be back in stock, suggesting that it's really popular

OP posts:
BIWI · 09/08/2014 20:12

Doesn't sound dangerous!

OP posts:
SchroSawMargeryDaw · 09/08/2014 20:17

My friend has one of the spiralisers, she loves it. I need one.

SayraT · 09/08/2014 21:25

I love my spiralizer, I think I posted pictures on a previous thread but I'll see if I can find them. It is so easy and makes amazing courgetti.

Think this was courgetti carbonara.
