Morning all!

Welcome to the second (or third if you didn't ubercamp) week of Bootcamp

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

And the Weight Tracker

I'm off to Leicester this morning, and won't be back until tomorrow evening, and no idea how much access I'll have to wifi/broadband, so apologies for any radio silence!

Hope you all had a good weekend, and here's to a good week

Stunt I got mine from ebay, a couple of quid.

miffy49 · 10/08/2014 00:59

The Spiralizers aren't dangerous Biwi its the julienne cutters! I've julienned several fingers with my Lakeland one! Its one of those that looks like a Y-peeler with teeth. Now I spear the courgette on a fork and keep my fingers well out of range.

Must look on Ebay Stunt never thought of that! duh!

CantEvenKeepAnOrchidAlive · 10/08/2014 08:44

Feeling much better since Wednesday. Had put on a lb by Thursday but weighed in this morning and have lost it so I've evened out.

Made lc pizza on Friday eve - the base was cauliflower, egg and cheese, the tomato sauce was pesto. Had beef and shallots as the toppings and it was lovely.

Yesterday:

B spicy chicken wings
L sausage, egg and bacon
D prawn salad

Shopping today so haven't organised food yet but very relieved to have working bowels again. Think it was the fatty rare rump steak I had on Tuesday!

Tins of tuna would be a good option, along with packs of olives (you can buy some in packets rather than jars/tins).

Bacon, sausages and eggs if you have a cool box, along with mushrooms for a really good, low carb fry up each morning!

How about making up some low carb meals and freezing them? That means you can put them frozen in your cool box, and they will last for a few days. If it's stuff like bolognese or chilli then you can just tip these into a pan and heat them up - no need for a microwave/oven etc! And nobody will die if they don't have pasta/rice with them.

Take packs of nuts for snacks - you can buy good mixes of roasted nuts/salted nuts in Waitrose/Sainsbury (and presumably other supermarkets) - just check the carb count on the back of the pack first.

Big packs of cheese should keep reasonably well if you have a decent cool box - do you have the facility to buy ice or re-freeze your cool blocks?

One trick that we came across that worked really well for a party to keep drinks cold - would only work if you have quite a lot of room for cold stuff! The plastic boxes that take-aways come in - fill several of those with water and then freeze. You have have huge lumps of ice that way that take ages to defrost especially if you pack them together - you could line your cool box with them.

Some tinned soups are low carb- same as packing beans but lc. Whenever we camped as children I remember my parents always just reheated canned food- Canned meatballs and curries etc- these can be lc if you like them. Green and runner beans keep out of the fridge so take a pack of each to boil have alongside stuff instead of yer usual pasta. Tinned tuna/ salmon etc and a bottle of Mayo?

I think the best option is to take disposable bbqs and meat / frying veg ( aubergines, asparagus, courgette and peppers, halloumi, etc) in the cool box. Will there be any shops/ butchers etc near the campsite to buy chicken, lamb etc to BBQ when you're there?

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 10/08/2014 11:08

Lots of posh pork rinds! And dip. Could always make flax/almond bread but I don't know how well it will keep.

ImATotJeSuisUneTot · 10/08/2014 12:33

Eggs? If you can safely transport them then that's loads of easy meals surely? Smile

Caramelkate · 10/08/2014 12:52

Take a disposable barbecue - perfect for camping and low carb. Otherwise loads of eggs, tins of corned beef - fry with the eggs.

pregnantpause · 10/08/2014 14:48

I've no appetite at all today. Making a ham, the house smells of Christmas, and we have dozens of homegrown veg to cook, fresh picked from the garden and tbh, I just don't fancy it. I think that's a good thing.

B- antipasti board with cheeses and meats
L- coffee cream
D- twice cooked Christmas ham and numerous veggies

Can't see me needing a snack tbh ShockSmile

I measured today and I've lost nearly an inch all over - nothing on the scales but inches count more IMO

miffy49 · 10/08/2014 15:09

Yup, inches are far more important than the effects of gravity on a gadget! Grin

Your ham sounds lovely.

ImATotJeSuisUneTot · 10/08/2014 17:10

Hello All! Fab weather? Grin

Im with PregnantPause today, no appetite at all. Theres just nothing I fancy. Tea is a random concoction, a chicken-y, spicy, veg-y, mexican-y lettuce wrap thing. Breakfast was yogurt, and lunch an omelette.

This week is very heavy with social possible face stuffing events. DP has been mightilly amused as ive spent the afternoon looking at all the viable food options. Good preparation.... blah blah blah. Grin

Pisseslikeahorse · 10/08/2014 17:18

afternoon all

back from the grips of Devon the home of big hills to run up and bastard headache making cream teas, just say No! if your offered.
not sure how much has gone back on, we will find out in the morning, but it was a good break. Surprisingly after not drinking for 13weeks Gin and fizzy water is rather good and I'm now a very cheep date Grin

Buffy I went camping last bootcamp. olives keep in their brine, lots of salad and greens like spinach. Avocado & tuna or anything that you can easily fry / BBQ. Yes lots of eggs and bacon. Pig snacks are your friend and remember lots of big bottles of water - Sainsbury's do a 5ltr one.

BestIsWest · 10/08/2014 17:36

Off to North Wales tomorrow for a mini tour and then to Hay on Wye later in the week.

There will be big breakfasts and lots of eating out. I will not eat chips. Or ice cream I promise.

B Greek yoghurt.
L lettuce and ham, cheese and celery
D not sure yet

loombands · 10/08/2014 19:56

hi all, i realise you have been at this a while, but is it ok if i join you for the last 2 weeks?

i weigh 189lb...do i add myself to the spreadsheet? it all jumps about when i try to scroll up or down

i posted a few questions on another thread but can i ask here too....

  1. if you uber low carb, is that no milk, cheese or yoghurt? or is it just no milk...i see some people are having cream in coffee Confused

  2. i guess porridge oats are out? what about lentils?

  3. and no fruit, is that right?

readyforno2 · 10/08/2014 19:58

Didn't have breakfast this morning. Got up too late..

L - cabbage fried in butter with corned beef and double cream (sounds rank but it's amazing)
D - chicken in garlic and herbs from Asda with cauliflower and broccoli cheese

I'm really full... Had about 4 pints of water and two coffees with cream

BIWI · 10/08/2014 20:40

ubercamp means no dairy - so no milk, cream, cheese or yoghurt. Some people didn't do ubercamp which is why they're having cream in their coffee. Cream is lower in carbs than milk, which is why some people use that when they're low carbing.

OP posts:
BIWI · 10/08/2014 20:42

Lentils definitely out, and fruit is also out - until Bootcamp Light, when you can have some berries (only in moderation).

Have a look at the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness on the tabs, at the bottom of the spreadsheet, you'll find the rules.

Make sure you know what the rules are!

Currently munching on some leftover chicken breast, crispy bacon, mixed with DeLouis Mayo. Yummy.

loombands · 10/08/2014 21:14

no nuts or seeds??? Shock

ooops....today has been a bit of a false start then!!

i dont like milk, so i dont have it in tea or coffee. I might not uber though, because i like yoghurt and cheese, I dont think i eat it often enough to make a difference Confused

been looking on the recipe thread....i was practically drooling, some delicious sounding meals

loombands · 10/08/2014 21:18

i have just googled stevia...can you get that in supermarkets?

is Agave Nectar/syrup ok? someone just gave me some

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 10/08/2014 21:22

Wht about xylitol?

BIWI · 10/08/2014 21:23

No to agave/syrup - they are just sugar in another form

No to xylitol - it's an artificial sweetener

Read the rules, people!!!

OP posts:
loombands · 10/08/2014 21:41

agave is pretty much like stevia though, isnt it? it has low GI Confused

BIWI · 10/08/2014 21:57

It's sugar!

Don't mistake low GI for low carb. Honestly.

So it's forbidden ...
