@wwtawtaw - Amazing to hear of your positive viability scan!! I totally understand the continued worry. I don't think it really settled until I felt DD wiggling around. But got easier with each milestone passed.

@IVFfirsttimer91 - I loooooved my purple maternity notes and honestly hated that I had to give them up when I delivered. But I did get the red book in return which was nice.
Glad your sickness has eased. Placenta should be starting to take over a bit now which can filter out some of the hormones which cause these symptoms. So a reduction can be very normal!

I'm from Hampshire, UK.

@Olivia199 nooo! I have to give them up?? They didn’t tell me that! Oh well, I suppose I can deal with that if I get a red baby book at the end of it!

I read that the placenta takes over at around this time too, so it wasn’t a shock that the sickness decreased (though typing this now I’m currently feeling not 100%) but I think I’ve got myself so wrapped up in symptom checking and am just so desperate for this to work that any change just worries me.

At the last scan we did see the little bean wriggling about though which was cool and very reassuring.

Olivia199 · 13/08/2023 12:21

@IVFfirsttimer91 - Yeah I was pretty gutted too, I'll be honest! I did keep the CTG bands that they'd been monitoring her with though. So that's pretty lovely. The red book felt a bit like graduation. I'm now not 100% sure where it is which is likely terrible parenting. She peed on hers in her first midwife appointment. My friend had taken us and while I was having my checks, the other midwife and my friend weighed her. Obviously stripped her off but neither of us thought to have a nappy out and ready for after. Obviously, just as my friend lent into the bag, with the red book in, to grab a nappy... she peed everywhere. Its still crumpled and I swear it smells a bit. Nice memories!

New thread is up ladies! @Lauralozzle, glad you're sticking with us!! Can't wait to hear about your new FET.

@IVFfirsttimer91 no symptoms yet but I think fro 6 weeks it could all kick in so preparing myself! X

My nausea kicked in at 6 weeks on and off and is pretty constant during week 7 😉 completely gone off vegetables and meat and eating things I didn't eat before. How many weeks are you?

ASGIRC · 13/08/2023 12:28

@Lauralozzle Im glad youre staying with us!!

Thanks for the ne thread @Olivia199 !!

wtawtaw · 13/08/2023 12:32

@IVFfirsttimer91 ah yes I did have a look at window to the womb before the clinic said I could do it there. What's Emma diary?! I'll have to have a look!

I've seen the baby show in London in sept and super keen to go too if all goes well obviously! Either that or there's one in London at the beg of March but I think that would be too late!!

Baby Stan smiths though - too cute 🥰

Ahh glad you like Bath!! It is lovely, what made you come this way?

What blood tests did you midwife take? Sorry for all the questions!!

wtawtaw · 13/08/2023 12:33

Thank you @Olivia199 ! How far along are you weeks wise? Sorry I had some time out and have lost progress of everyone 🙈

Olivia199 · 13/08/2023 12:38

@wtawtaw - I'm 6+1 now! So I officially hit my first milestone.

I'm feeling more and more nauseous as the days go on. Today I've had my cyclizine and although it's stopped me being sick, it has not helped the feeling. Which is... unpleasant!!

I'm a practitioner in theatre and I'm already not coping with the smells. Dreading returning on Tuesday with the level up.

@wtawtaw Emma’s diary is like an app that you sign up to and you can get discounts and freebies and also gives you info relating to where you are at in pregnancy. It’s quite cute and I love the free things!!!

If you do make it down to the September show in london do let me know! Would love to meet for a decaf!

I have a few friends in your area, so have been a few times, but in the last occasion I actually went with work for our overnight cultural outing which was absolutely wonderful! Would hugely recommend The Soul Spa to everyone, it was so relaxing.

The bloods that they took were for: a screening of the baby’s blood (apparently this is standard if using donor sperm), to check my blood type, and to see if I have any nasties like HIV or TB. I think that was all, but they took 4 vials and I did not love it!

IVFfirsttimer91 · 13/08/2023 13:06

@wtawtaw oh and they also take a urine sample to check for proteins

Olivia199 · 13/08/2023 13:39

IVFfirsttimer91 · 13/08/2023 13:06

@wtawtaw oh and they also take a urine sample to check for proteins

You'll be asked to present a pee sample at every single appointment for this too. My surgery don't let them tip the sample away after dipping either, so you get used to carrying round the pot of pee.
Wasn't just the once I then rushed off back to work only to find it in my bag.

@IVFfirsttimer91 Didnt your clinic ask for those before hand (HIV, etc)? Mine did.. I had basically a whole lot of blood done to see whether I was immune to a tonne of shit and whether I was carrying anything troublesome!

IVFfirsttimer91 · 13/08/2023 15:37

@ASGIRC yes my clinic did, but my midwife/consultant for the birth are NHS not through the clinic they needed to test again.

Interestingly enough, my care is going to be both midwife and consultant led rather than just MW led, not sure if that is due to this being an IVF pregnancy, or because of my history with addiction. Clean and sober now for a few years thankfully, but I did wonder if it would factor into the level of care/monitoring I would get.

Hopefully it’s just because it’s an IVF pregnancy, I’ve worked so hard to overcome addiction and I really don’t want it playing even a small part in this journey!

ASGIRC · 13/08/2023 15:43

@IVFfirsttimer91 Ahh, while the blood were ordered by the clinic, I did go through my NHS to get them for free, so I will be telling them they were ordered by the NHS, and that they need to accept them LOL

I hope its just the IVF situation.
We dont have midwives in portugal, so im no 100% sure how things play out here. I know I have an appt with a nurse, and then a doctor, on the same day, at my GP. Will find out more then! Obviously, at this point, they dont even know who I am, or that it is an IVF pregnancy.

wtawtaw · 13/08/2023 15:44

@Olivia199 congratulations on passing the 6 week milestone 💛

wtawtaw · 13/08/2023 15:47

@IVFfirsttimer91 fab - thanks I'll have a look at that one. Will definitely let you know! I'm going to wait until my 12 week scan and if all is well I'll book it after that, around mid September. Have you booked it yet?

Thanks for the info on the midwife too! 4 vials though 🤢 maybe I shouldn't have asked 🤣

IVFfirsttimer91 · 13/08/2023 15:51

@ASGIRC i tried telling them that I got mine done through my gp, also NHS and it didn’t fly 😭 but it’s all worth it in the end so I let them steal my blood. When are your appointments? I hope it’s just because it’s an IVF pregnancy too, but I guess I’ll find out and report back 😂.

@wtawtaw yeah please do let me know!! Would be great to meet you! I got the tickets free through Emma’s diary so I haven’t booked anything. I just figure I’ll show up 😂. My pleasure on the midwife info. I had no idea what to expect so I’m more than happy sharing any small bit of knowledge I have :)

Olivia199 · 13/08/2023 16:05

@IVFfirsttimer91 - That's amazing, huge well done for getting through that. I've heard very mixed things based seemingly on area more than anything else. It seems 50/50 as to whether IVF makes you consultant led. And I've also seen some IVF consultant led have one appt and be sent back to being MW led!

OP posts:
IVFfirsttimer91 · 13/08/2023 16:17

@Olivia199 thanks so much. To be honest no one in my family including me thought that I’d reach 30! So I’m pretty proud of myself for surpassing that goal by 2 years lol. Something just clicked when I went to rehab and I just haven’t looked back since.

I’d be quite happy with just MW led so if I only see the consultant once I’m ok with that

DauntedAF · 13/08/2023 16:53

EllieCatMom · 13/08/2023 09:29

@DauntedAF for what it's worth, I'm 15dpt now and been testing everyday, they've all been pretty light with no noticeable progression until this morning which was almost a dye stealer.

Oh thank you @EllieCatMom that's realllly reassuring. Thank you! Have you had your beta?

Olivia199 · 13/08/2023 17:02

@IVFfirsttimer91 - That's a huge accomplishment. I really am so pleased for you, absolutely wear that pride loud!!!

I prematurely moved over to the new thread but just wanted to say how brilliant that is @IVFfirsttimer91 and you absolutely should feel proud of yourself! Also great news about the 6 week milestone @Olivia199, I'll hopefully be there on Tues. Also cannot imagine working in theatre with the smell sensitivity, poor you!

loulamay · 13/08/2023 18:45

oh I'm chatting away on the new thread haha. Were we not supposed to post there yet? 😂

IVFfirsttimer91 · 13/08/2023 19:57
