@loulamay Oh wow that sounds excruciating! I hope you get to recover a bit at home!

@SH998 it’s in the afternoon. I agree I wish I was more of a carefree person. I think it also doesn’t help that I have lots of friends who had issues/mcs so the abstract chances feel much more real… i try to tell myself that worrying is not actually changing anything and also won’t really help me feel better if something is actually wrong but it’s hard not to do it…

orchid29 · 10/08/2023 09:39

@SH998 and you are probably right on the clinic just being a bit confused!
When is your scan?

SH998 · 10/08/2023 09:55

@orchid29 its hard to avoid when people close to you are dealing with these issue first hand. Hopefully you wouldn't need to worry about them issues.

Scan is at 6.55pm tomorrow evening, my clinic scan isn't for another 2 weeks so opted for a private scan hoping that will calm me down slightly :)

ASGIRC · 10/08/2023 10:54

@10degreessunny congrats!!!

@orchid29 really bizarre that your clinic has you 4 days behind!!! That is not an insubstancial amount of time!! How can they get that so wrong?!
Good luck with your scan tomorrow! Hopefully youll be able to see everything, but at just over 6 weeks, there might not be a heartbeat yet, so dont panic!

@loulamay oh wow!! Youve not had it easy!! But now youre back home!!

Lauralozzle · 10/08/2023 11:37

Thanks everyone, I agree, being asked to continue the pessaries is just cruel at this point. I swear I’m not absorbing much anyway, I mean, it not a little amount of blood now. I’m in full flow period. The clinic said they’d call me tomorrow but I’m just going to do the damn test and call them anyways. When they call me back I’ll ask for review to be sorted ASAP.

Congrats and good luck to all those with scans coming up and who have had positive tests on OTD.

It’s dawned on me I might not be able to transfer in October. I think my smear is due next month, but getting in to have it done and then waiting for the letter last time took ages! Think I couldn’t get in for a few weeks and it took about 8 weeks to get the letter back with all clear. In that case, might not be able to go until November time. We’ll see if they realise it’s due! I’m not saying anything otherwise!

I have tomorrow off so I’m going to get the garden sorted seeing as it’s stopped raining and continue on stripping the bloody bannister!

orchid29 · 10/08/2023 11:37

@SH998 sorry I forgot - how far along are you again? in two weeks seems a long time!

@ASGIRC I know! it really confused me - they must be counting the day i’m transfer as the day of ovulation maybe? Weird… anyway did you friend ever answer?

ASGIRC · 10/08/2023 11:47

@Lauralozzle what does your smear have to do with another cycle?

@orchid29 But that also doesnt make any sense... because a 5 day embryo cannot happen on ovulation day!! Im sure you can sort that out with the clinic.
They are clearly wrong, so it should be straight forward to right.

No!! She hasnt replied at all!
I think maybe she was hoping I would text back saying I felt miserable, so that she could comiserate with me on how horrendous first trimester is?
She has been one of those "let me warn you" friends... Which I get comes from a good place, but is really unhelpful... Particularly in the "Are you really sure you want to do this?! Having children is HAaaaRRrrDDDddd" form.

Lauralozzle · 10/08/2023 11:56

@ASGIRC I think if they realise they’ll want to hold off until it’s done, cause if it comes back needing further investigation they might not be happy to do transfer until investigations etc are done. I’m taking that off people I have followed on Instagram, where they had to wait. I’ve never had a smear with any problems before.

I’m just mentally preparing myself for the ball ache of it all!

ASGIRC · 10/08/2023 11:59

@Lauralozzle I can see that... but Ive also delayed my smear for over a year at times and not even thought about it (again, never had any issues before).
I was due my smear when covid happened, and then obviously that didnt happen, and ended up getting one done at my first consult at the fertility clinic, since I was there (I paid for it, but it wasnt too much), which was 2 years late!
All normal, once again!

I really wouldnt worry too much about it, if I were you.

SH998 · 10/08/2023 12:19

@Lauralozzle if you call and advise them your going through IVF treatment they might push you through sooner. I done this and didn't have to wait for the official letter to arrange the smear. Also my clinic was able to access the online system within 3 weeks to get my results, I didn't get the 'all clear' until a few weeks later. Make the most of this dry weather and enjoy bannister stripping :)

@orchid29 Ill be 6 weeks 6 days on tomorrows scan, my official clinic scan is not until I'm 8 weeks 3 days, Christ I would almost be over the first trimester by then! lol

Ivfround1 · 10/08/2023 15:18

So happy to see the positive results and everyone progressing through their transfers! Very sorry for those who did not get the results we all hope for.

I had to step away a bit and stop testing. With my low numbers it was becoming overwhelming to keep testing and analyzing!

because my numbers were low my clinic did an early ultrasound today at 5 w 6 days. Turns out there is absolutely nothing wrong and our little guy is measuring ahead at 6 weeks 1 day and we could even see his heartbeat right where it’s expected at 92! I feel lucky to get the early news. Will go back again next week for my normal 6 week scan!

I think I am done symptom spotting. The constant I feel pregnant, I don’t feel pregnant really messes with our heads. It’s all easy to say now that I got my scan, but that wait was BRUTAL.

Lauralozzle · 10/08/2023 15:40

@Ivfround1 I’m glad everything is progressing nicely for you

I’ve finished work early today. I’m also having a drink, Malibu, pineapple and coconut water. First drink I’ve had in months. It’s bloody lovely.

I think a few months off will help, to be honest. Might even join the gym after this period has finished. I’ve thought about it often, I love swimming, they have a pool close to me so I might just bite the bullet and join.

ASGIRC · 10/08/2023 15:46

@Ivfround1 I had been wondering how you were! How exciting that everything was well with your little one!!! And getting to see him twice!!

@Lauralozzle I think those are great ideas! Im very jealous of your Malibu!! Enjoy them! With a FET the next time, you can enjoy a drink until it actually happens, and Id say make the most of it!
Exercise is also great! And you can keep it going even after the FET, as long as it isnt too high intensity, which will also help distract from the 2WW!
Im loving how positive you are sounding, even if deep down that might not be the case.

Lauralozzle · 10/08/2023 17:00

@ASGIRC To be honest, apart from the general horrible period and cramps I’m ok. It takes on average 3 rounds they say. Whilst this transfer hasn’t been successful- the round was much better. I have two frozen which is more than I banked on. I have another egg collection paid for.

I really think I will enquire about gym membership on Monday.

beehappy19 · 10/08/2023 17:18

@Ivfround1 massive congratulations on your scan. So happy everything is looking great. I
completely agree about the constant testing and symptom spotting. It isn’t good for any of us and won’t change the outcome anyway even though it’s so hard not to.

Walker12 · 10/08/2023 18:30

Exciting about your scans tomorrow @SH998 and @orchid29, will be thinking of you both.

@loulamay glad you finally made it home despite the obstacles, I'm sure it's all been worthwhile!

@Ivfround1 wonderful news about your scan, hopefully it puts your mind at rest a bit. I've also been obsessing a bit about my betas but really trying to draw a line under it now. There is so much mixed stuff online so I just made it so much more stressful by googling..

@Lauralozzle enjoy that malibu!! And a bit of time away from the insane world of ivf sounds like a great idea. Also great that you have another full round paid for although I'm sure you won't need it with having a couple in the freezer!

My only update is I've been back at work today and absolutely shattered as I have become quite accustomed to my afternoon nap 😂

ASGIRC · 10/08/2023 18:58

@Walker12 hahah completely get it!

I have a day off today, and it is the first proper day off Ive had in weeks! (Last weekend I was off, but since I was away, it doesnt really count!)

I dyed my hair (the fringe needed retouching... it is pink, and it fades really quickly!) and I procrastinated! Should have gone to the supermarket, but just couldnt face it!

Will do it tomorrow, when I go out to the cinema in the afternoon!

Sangels267 · 10/08/2023 19:05

I have had more spotting but today was red. I've contacted my clinic that have booked me an early scan for next Thursday, I will be 5w + 6d.
I'm keeping everything crossed that everything will be ok, never expected to be so anxious after finding out I was actually pregnant.

Walker12 · 10/08/2023 20:44

@ASGIRC pink fringe sounds great, bright and positive vibes!! Honestly I have done soo much procrastinating these past few weeks and been the laziest I have ever been in my life..but I suppose we have the best excuse at the moment..

@Sangels267 so sorry you are anxious, I know you will have read lots about normal spotting etc but I totally get why you are worried. Hope the week passes quickly for you and you get some good reassuring news at the scan.

ASGIRC · 10/08/2023 20:55

@Walker12 ha! The rest of my hair is blue! When I was having my starting consults at the clinic, the doctors would be like "what should I put in hair colour, to match with the donors?"
I love being lazy! Doing nothing is amazing!

@Sangels267 Im sorry its been so stressful! hopefully the week will go fast!
Its ridiculous isnt it? You think the biggest hurdle is the BFP, but it really isnt!

Sangels267 · 10/08/2023 22:45

@Walker12 yes, read loads about it and I wasn't very worried. Until I spoke with a nurse at the clinic on Tuesday that told me they aren't concerned unless the spotting changed colours (from brown to red) which it did today. I contacted them today to make them aware and they booked a scan for next week 😬

@ASGIRC It really is, I always imagined I would be over the moon about being pregnant, really enjoying the pregnancy and being relaxed. I haven't felt that way yet, I feel like I'm double checking symptoms all the time and the spotting as much as I know loads of women have it doesn't let me relax.

IVFfirsttimer91 · 10/08/2023 23:27

@Sangels267 i can completely relate to how you’re feeling, I thought that once I got the positive I wouldn’t be as worried, but it gets more stressful as each week passes 😂. I’m booking a private scan for a couple of weeks to check on everything as I think I’d be a wreck if I had to wait another 31 days (not counting them down or anything) until my 12 week scan.

hopefully your scan next week gives you some reassurance though xx

10degreessunny · 11/08/2023 07:24

Morning ladies, hope everyone is well. TGIF.

I have my 1st scan on the 25th Aug as should be nearly 7 weeks by then. It's effectively another 2WW haha. I did ask the nurses about HCG tests and they said they don't do them unless I get unusual symptoms. Apparently the HCG tests can cause confusion/unnecessary stress so best to avoid if you can. Thought that was interesting as we all have different protocols. X

Lauralozzle · 11/08/2023 08:55

As expected on OTD, negative test.

Got in for our WTF appointment pretty quickly though. Monday 21st August, so I’ll ask about next steps etc then.

10degreessunny · 11/08/2023 09:07

Sorry @Lauralozzle, time for you to recharge, sounds like with the Malibu you're off to a good start. Sending love X
