FET December 2022

Hello!

Is anyone else scheduled to have a FET in Dec? I had my egg collection at the end of October and as we did PGT-A testing we're doing a FET in my next cycle. I've been given an estimated transfer date of 5 December.

Would love to speak with others who will be going through this at the same time!

Hi @Nat4819 I'm currently prepping for the transfer, estimated date is a bit earlier than yours, 30 Nov. I've also had EC in October and did PGT-A

How is it going so far for you?

Nat4819 · 15/11/2022 14:23

Hi @badassmum22 thanks for replying, I'm excited to have a cycle buddy! 😁 So far things are going ok thanks - they were able to collect 21 eggs, 18 of those were mature, 11 fertilised via ICSI and 6 made it to blastocyst stage. Out of those 6, 4 were euploid embryos. I've been on Provera since the egg collection whilst we were waiting for the results to come back, and my consultant gave me the green light to stop taking that medication today and then as soon as my period arrives I can get booked in for my baseline scan.

This is our first cycle and I'm trying not to let myself get too excited as that will make the disappointment all the more crushing if it doesn't work, but I keep finding myself looking at baby stuff!

How are things going for you?

Hello! Can I join? Just found out my first fresh transfer failed and trying to console myself by planning a frozen transfer. Luckily we have 6 embryos frozen. All good or okay quality… though the first one transferred was ‘perfect’ so that worries me. I have my consultation on Monday and really hoping to be able to get on with FET immediately for December but not sure the timings or how a transfer works yet.

Nat4819 · 15/11/2022 15:50

Hello @PimlicoMum4 Welcome! I'm so sorry to hear your fresh transfer failed, I hope you are doing ok. It's great that you have six frozen embryos though, hopefully your consultant will be able to offer some helpful guidance and your next cycle will be successful.

Hi @Nat4819 My October EC was my 3rd one this year. Had first IVF in Jan, fresh 3 day transfer which did not work. Second ICSI in May resulted in 1 normal (tested) embie and we decided to do another round of ICSI before transferring so that was October one resulting in another 1 normal and 2 mosaics.
This is my first frozen transfer. So far so good. Though Provera gave me mood swings like crazy, felt sorry for my husband! Now on Cetrotite and Progynova. Next scan is on 24th to see how is my lining progressing.
I get the baby stuff, I'm the same! x

badassmum22 · 15/11/2022 19:56

Hi @PimlicoMum4 and welcome! Sorry to hear about your cycle! Glad you have some frostiess lined up. Hopefully your clinic will start moving things for you for the next transfer. Be gentle to yourself! x

Hello! Also booked in for a frozen transfer around mid December, so should be starting medication next week. We had our egg collection in September, one fresh transfer but no luck. Have 3 frozen embryos so planning a single transfer this time and if unsuccessful a double next time (if they survive the thaw). Seems more straightforward than egg collection so optimistic for less bloating this time!!

Can I ask what was the reason for some of you also using PGT-A? I broached it with our doctor for any future egg collections but she said they don't do it and wouldn't recommend it.

Nat4819 · 17/11/2022 13:24

Hi @Yel Welcome to the group!

I had a PGT-A testing done as I'm 38 and my clinic strongly recommended it given my age, and that it would reduce the risk of transferring an abnormal embryo that wouldn't result in a baby. I think if you're younger than 38 a lot of clinics don't recommend unless there are other factors at play.

badassmum22 · 17/11/2022 14:51

Hi @Yel welcome!
I did the testing as we have unexplained infertility and consultants recommended it. x

Yel · 17/11/2022 21:51

Thanks @badassmum22 and @Nat4819for sharing x

Nat4819 · 18/11/2022 10:09

Morning! How is everyone doing?

Just on my way home from my baseline scan, we've been given the green light to start the FET cycle and start taking the medications - am feeling super excited but also nervous!

OP posts:
badassmum22 · 18/11/2022 12:46

Yay @Nat4819 🎉🎉🎉 great news!
Are you going to be on many meds? My clinic seems to throw quite a bit in. Just had a week of Cetrotide and continuing on Progynova.

Nat4819 · 18/11/2022 14:19

@badassmum22 Thanks!! Yes my clinic is big on medication too! I've been on buserelin for the past 10 days and will stay on that, and from tomorrow will start taking Progynova. Once I get to mid cycle I will be taking Lubion injections twice a day, Crinone pessaries twice a day, Utrogestan tablets and Inhixa injections once a day!! I'm not a huge fan of needles so I have to keep reminding myself that it will all be worth it if it works!

How are you finding the Progynova? I keep seeing a lot of comments from posters saying they felt really nauseous from taking it.

OP posts:
badassmum22 · 18/11/2022 15:34

Wow, seems like you are on the same ones as me, minus Utrogestan, and I had Cetrotide instead of Buseralin.
Progynova is ok so far 🤞 but only been on it for a few day so far. x

RoseLlo · 20/11/2022 15:25

Hi everyone, it's lovely to find you all. I have my FET booked for the 7th of December. I was was due to have a fresh transfer in October but I wasn't well so here I am :) I started taking Progynova yesterday (I feel fine at the moment) and will take Utrogestan from the 2nd of December. I'm having treatment in the Czech Republic so it's all been quite surreal for me so far!

badassmum22 · 20/11/2022 21:54

Hello @RoseLlo welcome. Glad you found the tread. How are you finding the cucle so far? x

Nat4819 · 20/11/2022 22:20

Hi @RoseLlo welcome to the group!

Hi @badassmum22 and @Nat4819 . Thank you ☺️
I think I have been more stressed with the waiting around and not knowing than anything else. I'm going through a UK agency who seem to hold back info until the last minute so now I have an actual plan I feel much better! Are you both still feeling okay on the Progynova?x

PimlicoMum4 · 21/11/2022 14:12

Hey, how’s everyone getting on?
just had my follow up consultation and confirmed I’ll be a natural FET (though still do trigger shot so guess not fully natural). But unfortunately have left it too late to do this cycle and next one will fall over Xmas and new year when clinic is closed. So have to wait til January, which I’m sad about.
does anyone have experience of a natural FET? It seems to be much less invasive than an ivf cycle.

Nat4819 · 21/11/2022 16:58

@RoseLlo I'm doing ok on the Progynova so far thanks, I did have a headache last night but that could have been due to a multitude of things! Thankfully have not had any nausea which seemed to be the main complaint for this medication.

@PimlicoMum4 apologies, I don't know much about natural FET cycles. Did your clinic explain why they recommended a natural cycle vs a medicated one? At least you won't have to be injecting yourself on a daily basis 😊

OP posts:
PimlicoMum4 · 21/11/2022 18:09

@Nat4819 i think it’s because my cycles are regular and technically my fertility is fine - we need help because chemotherapy totally wiped out my husband’s sperm so there’s no way I can fall pregnant naturally. I was also short protocol on my ivf.

badassmum22 · 21/11/2022 19:06

Hi @PimlicoMum4 sorry to hear about the delay. It happened to me last year around this time when waiting for my 1st IVF. Try to use this time to nourish your body and take it easy! x

Fanny81 · 24/11/2022 07:06

Hi - would it be ok if I joined? I am due to do my FET next Tuesday the 29th (so nearly December!)
this is my third transfer.

I had a fresh cycle back in march. Since then:

fresh cycle - BFP - termination at 16 weeks for T 21 (just horrendous)

FET September - BFP then miscarriage at 6.5 wks

i have two embryos left. I have to decide if to transfer the two before next week or do a single transfer. Not the best quality ones.

it’s been a bad year to say the least!
I’m 41 so age is a big factor here.
I am lucky that I have a two year old conceived naturally after ivf a couple of years ago.

im approaching next week with the usual mix of hope and dread. 😬

how are you ladies doing?

xx

RoseLlo · 24/11/2022 15:40

Hi @Fanny81 . Nice to have you here :) I am sorry you've had such an awful year. What a rollercoaster. Are your embryos from your first cycle with your son? What does your clinic suggest about transferring one or two?
I am starting to feel excited now. I had been feeling stressed as I had to rearrange a lot of things and book flights, etc but now that's done I feel a lot better!
Are you all finding some nice ways to relax in the run-up?

Nat4819 · 24/11/2022 21:40

Hi @Fanny81 welcome to the group 👋🏾 I'm really sorry to hear about your previous unsuccessful pregnancies this year, I wish you all the best with this cycle and hopefully third time is a charm! What is your clinic advising you re transferring one embryo or two? Which way are you leaning?

I'm alternating between feeling excited and worried - I daydream about what it would be like if this cycle is successful, but at the same time I worry a lot about it not working and trying to mentally prepare for that.
