FET December 2022

Hello!

Is anyone else scheduled to have a FET in Dec? I had my egg collection at the end of October and as we did PGT-A testing we're doing a FET in my next cycle. I've been given an estimated transfer date of 5 December.

Would love to speak with others who will be going through this at the same time!

Thanks @RoseLlo @Nat4819 both.

No unfortunately my embryos are not from my first ivf at but from my last one when I was 40.
im with care and they recommend the transfers in order of the care maps score. These last two are 5/10 and then 1/10 😐 - I had a call with embryologist today who advised to put two back in. With my age etc plus the 1/10 not having much of a chance. I am not keen on the idea of twins. Best mate had them and it was tough’!!

I didn’t do pgt testing but I have one more cycle paid for so I’m thinking of maybe doing it for that (if this one doesn’t work) so I can hopefully not go through what I have done the last months.

@Nat4819 4 euploid is such a good number.
well done. You should feel very confident!

@RoseLlo can I ask why you have decided to go abroad? I did look into it but decided against it with the travel etc and a toddler..

Nat4819 · 25/11/2022 10:56

Question for you all - do you think you will wait the full two weeks to test? Both my husband and I agree that the reality is that I'm extremely unlikely to be able to hold out, but on the other hand I don't want to tempt fate by testing early?

OP posts:
badassmum22 · 25/11/2022 18:36

@Nat4819 everyone is different, I think I will at least few days before!
How is it going so far for you? When is your transfer? x

Nat4819 · 25/11/2022 19:03

@badassmum22 I think I am just overthinking it, worrying I would give myself bad luck if I tested too soon! So far it's still going ok thanks, I have my next scan on Wednesday, if they are happy with my lining then they'll confirm my transfer date. If i get the green light on Weds the transfer will most likely be on 6 or 7 Dec. How are you doing? Is your transfer coming up quite soon?

Fanny81 · 25/11/2022 20:34

I will definitely test early. No question here. All personal of course.
I’m planning on allowing at least 6/7 days after.

For my last two I tested at 7 days post 5 day transfer and the last one intended to do same but had a meltdown at 5 days after and tested then.
its hard to say what’s right… I had positives on both so I then obviously tested obsessively the next week.

Not sure what’s better. I mean the wait is torture too! You can’t win.

My first ivf 3 years back - that was a bfn I waited the full two weeks but then had slowly gone mental that last week.

my thinking behind testing early is I would rather know so I can get over it and stop the drugs asap.

badassmum22 · 25/11/2022 21:42

@Nat4819 it's completely normal to overthink, I do too. You are not far behind me, my transfer is booked for next Wednesday. I've started Lubion, Crinone and Inhixa today in addition to Progynova, things are getting real. It's my first frozen and I feel a bit nervous but trying to keep positive. x

Rtmhwales · 26/11/2022 04:30

Can I join? My estimated FET date is 14 December though it's subject to change obviously. I just started my estrogen protocol yesterday.

This will be my third FET since doing IVF in late May/early June. I'm trying to convince the clinic to transfer two at this point but I'm abroad and they're very resistant to it. Fingers crossed.

I had really good results from the egg collection - 45 eggs, 30 mature, 24 fertilized and 23 embryos frozen, all around 5BB or 6BB, so average. We paid to test 8 and only 2 were euploid however, 2 aneuploid, 3 mosaic and 1 with inconclusive results. So there's something definitely at play there as I'm only 34 and they expected 50% to be healthy. I've had three miscarriages naturally in 18 months so I kind of expected some sort of issue hence the IVF.

I did my first transfer late July and my gut said that one would implant but miscarry. I got my BFP but it ended up ectopic. This month we did another FET with the second euploid embryo without telling anyone as my gut said it wouldn't implant and sure enough it didn't.

I am cautiously optimistic the third time is the charm, my bank account is very optimistic. Maybe we can all get our Christmas miracles?

Nat4819 · 26/11/2022 06:48

@badassmum22 glad I am not the only one with an over active mind! That is so exciting that you started the progesterone support today, it's really not long to go for you now! How are you finding the new medication so far?

@Rtmhwales Welcome! Thanks for sharing your journey so far - that's an amazing number of eggs they were able to collect, congrats! Were they worried about you getting OHSS?

OP posts:
Nat4819 · 26/11/2022 06:51

@Rtmhwales Sorry, I hit the post button too early! I also meant to ask if they have done any additional investigations into your occurring miscarriages and/or the low number of euploids for your age? I'm so sorry your previous pregnancies/transfers have been unsuccessful, as you say hopefully you (and all of us) are about to get your Xmas wish! 🤞🏾

Morning! My period is late of course. Typical when you want it to come, but think it will start tomorrow hopefully. Just taking a look at the calendar, not sure when transfer will actually happen, does anyone have a guide roughly? Is it usually around days 16-18? I am just taking estrogen, lubion and progesterone pessaries.

I think I will test early only just because I'll now be pushing up against Christmas so will do what I need to be ok. I wish our partners could find out themselves and didnt need to get all updates from us!! I find that harder having to break news to them. I prefer to have a day to digest myself first before letting them know but usually end up bawling anyway!

Hopefully a better result for us all this month!

@Nat4819 thanks, the meds are ok but feels like I'm having more than during stims phase. Lubion stings so I'm considering to ice the area before injecting.

Nat4819 · 27/11/2022 20:13

@badassmum22 I've heard Lubion can be a painful injection :-/ Hopefully icing will help, I've also see some posters suggest using emla cream and/or warming the vial under your armpit/breast for 10 mins before injection. So exciting that you're only a couple of days away from transfer!

@RoseLlo we'll be transfer buddies 🥳

@Yel I find the waiting to be one of the worst parts! Re timing of transfer, per the example timeline my clinic gave to me transfer typically takes place around days 16-19

OP posts:
RoseLlo · 28/11/2022 17:37

@badassmum22 sorry the injections sting. I used ice for Menopur which helped a lot. Did you try it?

@Nat4819 Yayy will be so nice to be on the same timeline!

My lining was okay which is a relief (10.3mm) so transfer confirmed for the 7th!

neuroticteachermummy · 28/11/2022 20:53

Hi, I hope you don’t mind if I join in? I’m due to have my FET tomorrow and I’m driving myself quietly insane on my own 😬 My only remaining embryo isn’t great so I’m dreading a phone call saying it hasn’t made it through the thaw.
This will be my fifth (and final) fet - two bfn in 2018, then a successful transfer giving me my gorgeous girl in 2019. Had my 4th fet back in May which sadly ended in a mc at 8 weeks.
x

badassmum22 · 28/11/2022 20:58

Hi @neuneuroticteachermummy, Welcome!! Fingers crossed for tomorrow!! x

Nat4819 · 28/11/2022 21:08

@neuroticteachermummy Welcome!! Wishing you lots of luck for your transfer tomorrow!!

OP posts:
Rtmhwales · 29/11/2022 02:46

@Nat4819 They've done every investigation under the sun. Only thing abnormal was DH's morphology but his count and other parameters were perfect so they claim it's not an issue. I've done my own research with clinical studies and don't really agree.

I'm really hoping this December transfer works. The amount of £ we've spent already is eye watering.

Nat4819 · 29/11/2022 21:59

@badassmum22 Best of luck for your transfer tomorrow!!

OP posts:
Nat4819 · 30/11/2022 10:42

Feeling a bit disappointed - went for my scan today and my lining isn't where they would like it to be (it's 6.2), so have been told to increase oestrogen medication and come back for another scan on Sunday. The nurse told me not to worry and that they see this all the time, some people just need an additional bit of encouragement to get the lining where it should be, but still feeling somewhat deflated nonetheless 😞

Nat4819 · 29/11/2022 21:59

@badassmum22 Best of luck for your transfer tomorrow!!

Thank you @Nat4819
You'll be very soon after me! Sorry to hear that the lining needs more time. Try not to worry, if the nurse says they see it all the time, it's reasuring and you'll see more on Sunday. Have they changed your dose? x

Nat4819 · 30/11/2022 17:31

Thanks @badassmum22 How did your transfer go? Hope you're doing well.

Yes they've increased my dose of Progynova, and I'm now taking it as a suppository as well as taking it orally. I'm also starting with the Enoxaparin injections tonight as well. Hopefully that all does the trick! 🤞🏾

OP posts:
badassmum22 · 30/11/2022 18:26

It went well and it was very quick, thanks. I was a bit nervous but probably everyone is. Before theybstaryed, Embryologist printed a photo of the embie for us to keep and I felt so emotional but was all fine during the procedure.

I am on Progynova 3x day orally and 2x day supossitory too. They did bloods today to see if I need to stay on the same dose of everything or reduced. Do you also feel that there's a lot more meds for FET than during stims phase?
x

Nat4819 · 30/11/2022 19:36

Aww, it's lovely that they gave you a photo, definitely a keepsake! I agree it's definitely a lot more medication than during stims, I haven't even started progesterone support yet but I already feel like there are so many to keep track of. When is your test date? x

OP posts:
RoseLlo · 01/12/2022 13:16

@Nat4819 sorry to hear your lining isn't quite how it should be. It's not far off though and you've got a good few days in between scans with the extra meds too. I do get the impression that it's really normal for that to happen as I was prepared to adjust meds if need be so I am sure it will be fine on Sunday :)

@badassmum22 I'm so pleased the transfer went well! Lovely to get the photo! I have only been on Progynova for this phase so far but start progesterone suppositories tomorrow. I hope that's a simple/discrete process as I've got my friends coming over tomorrow evening😅

@neuroticteachermummy how did your transfer go?
