FET December 2022

Hello!

Is anyone else scheduled to have a FET in Dec? I had my egg collection at the end of October and as we did PGT-A testing we're doing a FET in my next cycle. I've been given an estimated transfer date of 5 December.

Would love to speak with others who will be going through this at the same time!

@Yoga817 aww that sounds great that you were able to get so many blasts. I've not heard of duostim before, if you don't mind me asking what it is? I'm 41 in April and I've been getting 1 blasts a cycle sometimes none and have been banking for a year (8 cycles, 3 of which got to egg collection), finally got 2 from the last cycle to meet our 4 blast frostie goal! We are all with you in the 2ww. This is my first transfer and we are doing 1 at a time.

Sorry to hear you feel unwell and hope you feel better soon! Xxx

@SPR40

Thanks. I hope I can kick this cold and it's great to have this support in TWW

Duostim is where you do two egg collections in one menstrual cycle. In the luteal phase egg collection (second collection of duostim) more eggs are collected due to follicles being leftover from the follicular phase. So after first egg retrieval you start stims 5 days later then do another egg retrieval after 12 days of stims. Here are my stats compared to my failed round of ivf in May:

First failed round of ivf - down regulation and 375 Ovaleap for stims
11 eggs collected
11 mature
7 fertilised
2 day 5 blasts fresh transfer
Failed to implant

Duostim - short protocol with 300ml Ovaleap and 75ml menapur

Follicular Phase
10 eggs collected
10 mature
7 fertilised
4 day 5 blastocysts all great quality (1 hatching)

Luteal phase
17 eggs collected
16 mature
12 fertilised
6 day 5 blasts all great quality

We also changed clinics and protocol when we did duostim as we weren't happy with the first clinic for various reasons. We are so glad we did duostim! Happy to answer any questions you may have

@SPR40 No worries at all, thanks for thinking of me! 🤗 It all went relatively smoothly thanks, although I was struggling with the full bladder towards the end of it! Feeling fine today and no different at all. I keep telling myself it's way too earlier for any symptoms but would be nice to feel something 😂 How are you feeling?

@Rtmhwales Good luck for today ☘️

Wow @Yoga817 that is amazing. I hadn't heard of this before. Is it a UK clinic? Hopefully 1 of my 4 frosties will stick, but good to know, thank you for sharing.

I'm so pleased that you found a great clinic that has given you a fab protocol and lots of beautiful blasts 😊

badassmum22 · 14/12/2022 13:21

So that's me out, my FET didn't work this time. I have followed every instruction to the dot and took all the meds religiously (it was a hell lot of them) so not sure what gone wrong. We are both devastated but agreed that we'll try to move on.
Booked my f/up with my consultant for next week and will see what he says but I was thinking to do NK cells blood test and biopsy, has anyone done that before? x

Yoga817 · 14/12/2022 14:15

@SPR40 It's with Care Fertility Northampton. I was their first Duostim patient, so it was new to them. Lucky to have access to a clinic that does it because lots of U.K. clinics aren't offering it yet. What's great about it is you get it over with very quickly. So two egg collections in one menstrual cycle and we ended up with more blasts than if we had done traditional ivf. There is a duostim Facebook group if you're interested.

@badassmum22
I'm so sorry to hear your FET didn't work out. It's so confronting and to go through all the injections, hormones and impact on your body for that negative test. I totally understand how you feel. I did NK cells testing with Professor Quenby's clinic at Coventry hospital. All results came back normal but it was good piece of mind. I also had a hysteroscopy through my ivf clinic since I had a myomectomy last year and they wanted to check for scarring. All came back clear. Feel free to ask any questions, happy to help.

SPR40 · 14/12/2022 14:44

@badassmum22 sending you lots of love. Sorry to hear it didn't work out this time. Hope the proposed tests give you some answers or at least put your mind at rest its not a factor. I didn't have the NK tests at this stage but did have hysteroscopy and polyp removal which included a biopsy. Xxx

@Yoga817 I hit Google on it last night wow I had never heard of it before you mentioned it. How interesting! We have a Care branch near us too. Thanks again for sharing. X

@Nat4819 the full bladder things is so crazy, so much poking and prodding when we are full up already. Hope you are feeling OK x

Yoga817 · 14/12/2022 19:23

Can't believe it. Just tested positive for Covid. Symptoms started one day after transfer. So, so gutted. I guess this means the transfer will fail.

SPR40 · 14/12/2022 21:48

@Yoga817 my hubbi also tested positive. I've started to get symptoms too, so you are not alone. I haven't googled anything as I'm staying focused and just waiting for the test day. Xxxx

Yoga817 · 14/12/2022 22:07

@SPR40 so sorry to hear you tested positive for covid. Let's hope it won't affect our embryos. I am a bit worried that I had a high temperature yesterday which was day 3 post transfer and it might affect implantation. On the positive side I have heard of lots of ladies getting a BFP after having Covid early in the TWW. Flowers

Rtmhwales · 15/12/2022 04:26

@SPR40 Thank you! Transfer was yesterday. I nearly wee'd all over them but they were able to do the transfer. They put two in so that's our little secret. Fingers crossed. One was hatched and the other hatching but they're untested so I'm nervous for another miscarriage.

One step at a time - get those babies to implant!

I'm feeling mildly positive as everything was different this time round (I'm superstitious). First and second rounds were same nurse, same doctor doing the transfer, same room, same hospital gown colour. Yesterdays was a different nurse, room, gown colour (my Favourite colour too!) and new doctor who seemed very thorough.

Fingers crossed they both implant and are healthy. I'd love twins!

Rtmhwales · 15/12/2022 04:27

@SPR40 if it helps one of the women I know tested positive for Covid on day two after transfer and had a healthy pregnancy without issues. So it doesn't always mean bad news!

SPR40 · 15/12/2022 07:25

@Rtmhwales awww that sounds like you had a great time. Its so good to have a different experience and a good one. And secret 2 blasts awww that's amazing!! Here's to a warp speed 2 week wait for you.

I am on day 10 and I absolutely understand how people end up testing early, I am counting down the hours to testing on Monday now!

Thanks for the covid info that's so helpful and will put @Yoga817 mind at rest too xxxxx

Nat4819 · 15/12/2022 17:53

@badassmum22 I'm so sorry to hear it didn't work for you this time. Thinking of you and hoping you are doing as best you can x

So I tested this morning and got a faint but definitely there BFP!!! I can't quite believe it - I know there are still so many hurdles to get through (even just making it to the end of the 2ww still testing positive) but will still be taking a moment to celebrate 🤗

RoseLlo · 17/12/2022 20:34

@Nat4819 woohooo that is so exciting!! I bet you've been on a cloud today 🤗 🤗Did you always plan to test today or did you wake up this morning and decide? 😀

RoseLlo · 17/12/2022 20:48

@Rtmhwales glad your transfer went well!

@Yoga817 and @SPR40 I hope you don't feel too poorly and you both feel better super quickly!

Rtmhwales · 18/12/2022 04:13

@Nat4819 congratulations!

I tested at 4 days and 4 hours after the transfer and got a clear BFP on a cheapie test. I know it's not a false positive as I have unashamedly been testing each day. I had a very very very faint with FMU, but so faint I wasn't sure if I was willing my eyes to see something out of nothing.

I'm so far down this road that I took one in the evening, popped it on the counter for the allotted timespan and wandered off watching videos on my phone, completely forgetting. Cue DP coming out and saying "there's a line". Yes dear there's always a line. Then him "I know that, but there's two". Are you sure, you are colourblind after all and struggle to see pink.. then he handed it to me and it's clear as day!

We are still a long ways off from safety unfortunately. With three miscarriages (naturally) and an ectopic (from my first FET) I just count this in hurdles: make it to OTD and hope it's not chemical, make it to the second blood test and hope it's not exotic, and finally make it to the ultrasound and hope there's a heartbeat at each one. It's sad how there's so much joy in this process but it stays so guarded after all we have all been through.

Rtmhwales · 18/12/2022 04:16

@Yoga817 and @SPR40 how are you two feeling with Covid? Keeping you in my wishes and thoughts.

SPR40 · 18/12/2022 06:19

Ladieesss, it worked!!! 13dpt 5day blast and I got two pink lines!

We decided last night to test 1 day early so we could go on our spa break together knowing the outcome and either plan next steps and be sad or celebrate.

In my 40 years of life I have never seen a 2nd line on a test I am in shock, it came up straight away as soon as the fluid hit it. Wow!

Wishing you all the best and hope to hear more good news xxxx

SPR40 · 18/12/2022 06:20

@Rtmhwales I never tested it was my hubbi I didn't test as it would stress me out. But I've been so ill, looks like it didn't make any difference though x

How you doing it you 2ww and wedding plans?

SPR40 · 18/12/2022 06:23

@Rtmhwales OMgoodness I just saw your post too. Yaaaaaaay!!!!! Congratulations to you too. One step, one day at a time, one appointment at a time and I send you all the love and positivity xxxxx
