Medicated FET what day was your transfer?

Hi everyone,

Embarking on another round of IVF and I’m having a FET next Tuesday. I went for a lining scan on CD8 and it was 6.1mm so returned yesterday CD11 and lining was above 7mm. I’m to start the dreaded progesterone pessaries on Thursday CD14 this week and my transfer is now booked for next Tuesday CD19.

Is this very late for a transfer? I’m getting myself all worried that it’s late and it’s going to impact the result of this cycle but being medicated does it not make a difference? Can anyone put my mind at ease?!

Many thanks!

My clinic aimed for around day 20 with flexibility depending on lining and clinic opening. My most recent one was day 22 to avoid the weekend. They just delayed starting the progesterone for a couple of extra days

flowersinmay · 21/06/2022 16:06

I am going for a FET next week too, on Wednesday 29th! It will be cycle day 22 for me, I had a scan on day 13 and my lining was just about 7mm, originally my transfer was planned for next Monday 27th but they said I should wait a couple more days to hope it increased a bit more. I don't know if CD22 is late as this is my first FET, but putting my full trust in the clinic that they know what they're doing! Hope your transfer goes well - those pessaries are a pain in with you on that! Xox

ChristmasJumpers · 21/06/2022 16:25

I just started taking Estradiol yesterday (day 1) and my first lining scan has been booked for day 15!! She also said that if my lining is thick enough, it will be minimum another week before transfer. I've been worrying that they're leaving everything very late but I suppose we have to trust them

Happycrocodile · 21/06/2022 17:02

Thank you all for taking the time to reply!

Phew! So totally normal then, that’s a relief!

I just got an unrelated call from the clinic and asked them and it seems that as long as the transfer is about 5 days after starting the pessaries then it’s actually flexible by a few days!

looks like we’ll be cycle buddies @flowersinmay and @ChristmasJumpers just days behind! 🤞for sticky embies for us all!

Best of luck to you ladies! Exciting we are close together! Is this your first transfer? I already had a ET 5 days after my egg collection which failed unfortunately, this will be my second attempt! Wishing you all all the luck in the world! Xox

Happycrocodile · 21/06/2022 20:18

I had a fresh transfer in 2020 which resulted in my DS, then I went back in Feb for one of our Frosties and on transfer day the consultant couldn’t get the embryo in. I had a LLETZ last year and this had caused scaring on my cervix. After nearly 2 hours or trying we had to stop and the embryo was refrozen. I’ve had another procedure and a mock transfer last week which was fine so hopefully no more bumps in the road!

how many embryos do you have? X

Exciting!! I'll look forward to seeing how it goes for you guys in the lead up to mine. How have you found taking estrogen? This is my first time and seems to be okay for now but I've heard horror stories!

We only got the one blast from 25 eggs and had to have a freeze all so this is all or nothing 🥺

Happycrocodile · 21/06/2022 22:01

I haven’t really noticed anything, except for being incredibly hungry all the time (but that might not be the oestrogen!) the progesterone is the gross one!

🤞It only takes one 😁

Oh that gives me hope that you already had your DS from ivf @Happycrocodile, congrats, I hope this round goes more smoothly for you - what a nightmare not being able to get the embryo in!

I'm taking progynova three times a day and I've not really noticed any problems so far. I got super tired on my fresh transfer though, I think from the pessaries! I've got to inject myself tonight too. Luckily only once! Then start pessaries on Friday so have gone out and bought a lifetimes supply of panty liners!

I feel lucky to have gotten four embryos from my first ivf round, all frozen now (two good quality and two middle quality), they haven't told me their grades. So I am really hoping they survive being defrosted and that I have a few attempts before having to go through another EC.

Keep us updated @ChristmasJumpers - hope your lil embryo is a strong one! Xox

Happycrocodile · 22/06/2022 11:43

it was the only outcome I couldn’t have predicted! Luckily the clinic treated it as a cancelled cycle so didn’t charge us for everything again this time but we did have to pay for scans and mock transfer.

my DS was a mid quality day 5 embryo and the one they are going to transfer is the same quality and also a day 5 one. We have 2 other “better” graded embryos but they are day6 ones so we’ll try again with that first. Like you I’m 🤞 it survives the thaw, it did in February and I was panicking that re freezing/ defrosting it would have a damaging effect but the clinic reassured me it is done every time an embryo is PGS tested so hopefully it will be ok.

trying to stay in a zen like state but I think I’m failing!

Hi ladies. Is it ok to jump on here? I went for my first scan in advance of an FET this cycle. Lining was 7 mm on day 11 and both ovaries were quiet. The nurse said she would speak to the doctor about having a transfer next Monday or Wednesday. I just got a call that they want to rescan me in a week and to increase my fematab to 8 tablets per day (currently on 6) to give me the best possible chance. This would mean a transfer of Monday the 4th, which is day 25 of my cycle. Has anyone had a transfer in around this day? I have a 29-day cycle and this seems quite late. This is our first transfer, so I am a tad clueless.
Does the above seem ok?

Happycrocodile · 22/06/2022 15:50

@Hopefull1981 I’m by no means an expert but I’m surprised if your lining was >7mm that they are pushing your transfer back. But I think, from what others have said and from discussions with my clinic that the medication overrides your usual cycle. My clinic said that once lining is over 7mm they’re happy to set a date and work back from that to start taking progesterone but if you leave transfer too long it isn’t ideal. You could question it but they hopefully know what they’re doing based on what they’ve seen x

Hello there. Frozen cycle is confusing for me too! I thought I would get a transfer immediately when uterus lining is above 7mm but I forgot about needing progesterone preparation for 5 days. I'm estimating I'll be due for a transfer next week on cycle day 17 or day 19.

It's exciting to know there are a few of us having transfer around similar times. Are you all on the thread for 'June IVF'?

lucymills1234 · 23/06/2022 09:59

Hi @Hopefull1981 not sure whether it helps but I transferred yesterday, which was day 22. I was scanned on day 10 and my lining was trilaminar but wasn't thick enough, so they scanned again on day 14 and it was about 8.5mm. To fit with the clinic schedule I wasn't started on progesterone until 3 days later, and as I said transferred yesterday. I still feel a bit uneasy about the timings but the clinic said that the main factor is the timing of the progesterone.

Their explanation was that progynova essentially keeps you in a pre-ovulation phase and adding the progesterone fools your body that you've ovulated. So the timing of five days of progesterone and then transfer on day 6 (if that makes sense) mimics natural ovulation and subsequent conception, with a day 5 blast arriving in the uterus at the right time.

flowersinmay · 23/06/2022 10:23

@Happycrocodile wow yes that is definitely an outcome you can't really predict! When they tell you ivf is a rollercoaster I don't think you realize how much this is true until you experience it! Really hope this one goes well for you!

the zen like state is hard! I'm trying to do some yoga everyday now leading up to the transfer, mostly because I don't really feel good in myself, since the ivf treatment has begun I've put on a bit more weight (anyone else too?) so doing yoga helps me regain some control over my body and makes me feel a bit better about myself. It's good to hear that your DS was a mid-quality embryo, gives me a bit of hope that I should still go ahead and transfer those if the good ones don't work as there still may be a chance!

@EasterBunny7 it's very exciting we are all at the same time, feels good to be on a journey with some more people! I've not been on the June ivf thread yet...

@Hopefull1981 I can't give much advice as this is my FET but I'm sure you're in safe hands! Keep us updated!

@lucymills1234 hope you're feeling ok after transfer!

Hopefull1981 · 23/06/2022 11:07

Thanks ladies. I have a feeling I am being fit into their schedule. Hopefully next scan shows thicker lining. @lucymills1234 the very of luck to you.

EasterBunny7 · 23/06/2022 12:47

@flowersinmay I'm actually finding this thread that's specific to medicated fet more useful, so I'm glad it was created.

@lucymills1234 that's really informative, thanks for sharing. I have issues with my uterus lining and usually can't get much more beyond 7mm. It's a bit daunting as some women get to 15-17mm! On cycle day 9, my lining was still type 'B' and it needs to get to 'C' which would be trilaminar. Feeling nervous that I won't be able to reach that point once again.

flowersinmay · 23/06/2022 12:53

@EasterBunny7 I wonder if there is anything we can do to increase lining? I haven't researched it myself yet. Hope it gets nice and thick for us all! They said mine also needs time to grow a bit. There is just so much to think about when doing ivf and so much that has to go right, it's crazy!

EasterBunny7 · 23/06/2022 12:53

@flowersinmay absolutely agree on putting on weight during ivf. Drinking all that milk to increase follicle sizes during fresh cycles, giving up any form of dieting/ calorie restriction, increasing intake of vitamins. Slowing down after embryo transfer, slowing down even more after spotting soon after positive pregnancy tests in a useless attempt to preserve pregnancies. Eating whatever I want whilst dealing with the sadness of those losses. All of it has come to bite me in the ass. Hips. Tummy. Everywhere!

EasterBunny7 · 23/06/2022 12:55

I've been trying to increase my exercise in lieu of putting on weight so I'm hoping that's increasing blood flow to my uterus during this current cycle. I know they say all the vitamins including folic acid side this process too. And probably certain foods, which I can never keep track of.

Happycrocodile · 23/06/2022 15:40

Pomegranate juice! (Apparently!)

I also have Accupuncture, had a session yesterday and will be having one the morning of transfer and the day after. In for a penny, in for a pound and all that!

during my fresh cycle I put on half a stone in a week, felt horrendous! I usually exercise 5 times a week but I’ve cut back to 2 light sessions and I’m already feeling like my clothes are shrinking 😉

I haven’t joined the June group @EasterBunny7 but when I did my fresh cycle I was in a group and those ladies kept me sane throughout the process and pregnancy and some of us are still in touch now.

that’s really useful information @lucymills1234 thank you! Hope you’re feeling ok and the TWW isn’t dragging already!

EasterBunny7 · 23/06/2022 16:22

@Happycrocodile buying some pomegranate juice as we speak! Thanks for the tip. I'm terrible about what's good for increasing follicles, or increasing your lining, or good for the first two weeks of pregnancy, then the first trimester etc etc. So many varying lists!

Happycrocodile · 24/06/2022 20:17

How’s the pomegranate juice @EasterBunny7? how is everyone feeling?

I started progesterone yesterday, I don’t know why I feel quite like my period is coming. I’m also super nauseous this evening, not sure if I’ve picked up a bug or if it’s the meds! Probably the former!

EasterBunny7 · 24/06/2022 21:10

Did not find it in my local supermarket. Will have to try again elsewhere tomorrow. I looked for vitamin e but found none. My lining is really struggling again and I'm triggering tonight. Very nervous.

Happycrocodile · 26/06/2022 09:30

How did the trigger go @EasterBunny7? can I ask why you’re having a trigger on a frozen transfer? X
