Medicated FET what day was your transfer?

Hi everyone,

Embarking on another round of IVF and I’m having a FET next Tuesday. I went for a lining scan on CD8 and it was 6.1mm so returned yesterday CD11 and lining was above 7mm. I’m to start the dreaded progesterone pessaries on Thursday CD14 this week and my transfer is now booked for next Tuesday CD19.

Is this very late for a transfer? I’m getting myself all worried that it’s late and it’s going to impact the result of this cycle but being medicated does it not make a difference? Can anyone put my mind at ease?!

Many thanks!

Welcome @Raspberrydelight - I also have unexplained infertility. Have been trying 2 years and most of my friends have announced pregnancies within that time so it's been pretty traumatic for me. I went straight to ivf after 3 rounds of clomid. Had one bfn in June. Now had my 2nd transfer on Wednesday so my OTD is 11th July! Just near yours! I think I will start testing from middle of next week though.
I have a gut feeling it's not worked but I know it's too soon to tell so shouldn't get ahead of myself.

@EasterBunny7 very cool you've started a thread- I don't feel I can join until I get a bfp... fingers crossed!

Sending love to all of you ladies! Xox

Morning all, hope everyone is well and keeping distracted!

I think I mentioned we had people to stay this weekend? Well one of them said they had a headache this morning and decided to do a LF test and it’s positive. Now I’m trying not to be sent into a downward spiral about catching covid during the TWW!! Ahhhhhh!!!

@Happycrocodile oh no! What bad luck! What happens now? Will they make their way home early? How are you feeling PUPO-wise? Any symptoms

Any symptoms for everyone else in PUPO? Curious to know....

flowersinmay · 03/07/2022 09:33

@Happycrocodile oh no I'm so sorry, that's really stressful! I have no words of wisdom but hope you stay healthy 🤞

@EasterBunny7 I am 4dp5dt and have zero symptoms and I'm beginning to think it hasn't worked again ☹️ it's a gut feeling. I'm tired but I know it's from the medication as it's how I felt last time. Can't help but feel a little down about it all. I know it's stupid to think that until I test but I just can't help it. My mind has been in overdrive a bit, I'm trying to distract myself! How are you doing? Any symptoms?

Happycrocodile · 03/07/2022 09:47

Well they’ve been here 3 days @EasterBunny7 so I guess it’s probably a bit late!

@flowersinmay i feel exactly the same but then again I think that I didn’t have any symptoms with DC1 until the day before I tested and I was probably already a day or two late then (the naïveté of a first time pregnancy) and that was only that I didn’t want a glass of wine! My IVF pregnancy I had no symptoms either. If this was a natural conception we’d only be 9/10dpo which would be too early for symptoms! Won’t know until we test later this week! Which day are you thinking? I’ve got bloods booked for Thursday but I think I’ll do a pee test weds to forewarn me.

@Happycrocodile it's reassuring to hear you didn't have symptoms, I just can't help overthinking everything at the moment! I'm spending an unhealthy amount of time on google and need to stop! I think I might start testing either Wednesday or Thursday this week. I'm so impatient! Are you feeling positive? Wishing us all lots of luck! Really hope this thread has lots of positive news soon! Xox

EasterBunny7 · 03/07/2022 10:16

@flowersinmay same as you, I know that the tiredness is probably from the progesterone. I had a two hour nap, without planning to, on transfer afternoon. So, definitely not pregnancy sign. I'm on 2dp5dt, and since the transfer, I've been having tenderness in my sides and pelvic area, intermittently. Almost like I've pulled a muscle, or a stitch. But again, it must be because of the medication.

EasterBunny7 · 03/07/2022 10:23

@flowersinmay don't give up just yet! From being in other IVF threads during my journey, I have seen women not have any symptoms but became pregnant and have a viable pregnancy. Whereas others noticed a few symptoms early on and it ended very soon. This is anecdotal but my point is: the ultimate goal is to have a viable pregnancy with a healthy baby. My friend got to 8 weeks without even realising she was pregnant! This was a natural pregnancy and she carried on into third trimester with hardly any symptoms and then broke out in hives!

flowersinmay · 03/07/2022 11:15

Thanks for the positive words @EasterBunny7 you're completely right I shouldn't give up, I think it's just hard because I've never seen a positive line on a pregnancy test and it's almost feels like it will just never happen! Do you know when you plan to test? Xox

Hopefull1981 · 03/07/2022 21:11

Hi ladies,

how are you all doing? I spent the weekend with my sister and the kids barely thought about tomorrow. Now I am in bed feeling very nervous, what if it fails, what is it’s twins, what if they don’t survive the thaw or the grade changes… can’t seem to stop my mind from racing. I am so glad to be finished the steroids and the antibiotics, 14 tablets a day was a lot. Did any of you take clexane from transfer day?

@Happycrocodile uou poor thing. We do do everything we can to avoid it pre transfer and unfortunately can be just unlucky. Hope you manage to avoid it 🤞

@flowersinmay @EasterBunny7 wishing your I both a positive end to the TWW. I am dreading it.

flowersinmay · 03/07/2022 21:29

@Hopefull1981 very best of luck with your transfer tomorrow! Did you manage to get a blood test in the end? Are you taking time off work tomorrow too? I've never heard of clexane if I'm completely honest. But is it something to prevent mc? I'm just on pessaries twice a day and progynova and something called duphaston (think that's a brand name?).
Keep us updated how it goes tomorrow! Xox

Hopefull1981 · 04/07/2022 08:09

@flowersinmay thank you. Ball of nerves waiting for the call. Clexane is a blood thinner that I have been prescribed for recurrent miscarriage. The consultant said to take it from transfer or from positive test should it be successful. Little confused now. I was on duphaston after my egg collection to reduce symptoms of OHSS. Did you have your egg collection recently? My clinic prescribed me antiobiotics and steroids in advance of the transfer. I suppose they are trying to cover all bases with the recurrent miscarriage. I am ok fematab too 2* 4 times a day too, I think that’s the same as prygynova.

hope you are doing ok? How many days are you now?

I don’t know if it’s good or bad luck but my little girl wanted to sleep beside me last night so I brought her into the spare room. Woke up this morning and she had pee’d all over me 😂

Hopefull1981 · 04/07/2022 12:16

Yay officially PUPO. 2 x 3AB embryos on board. We were the only ones there for a transfer today. All went perfect according to the consultant. My clinic sent me home with a pregnancy test so no bloods unless it’s positive on the 17th.

Medicated FET what day was your transfer?
lucymills1234 · 04/07/2022 12:26

Hi all,

Hope everyone is doing ok? Welcome @Raspberrydelight !

@Hopefull1981 good luck for transfer today, hope all goes smoothly. I've been on Clexane for most of my transfers now, I start it at the same time as progesterone (so 5 days before transfer). It's really expensive! It's an easy injection though, sometimes stings a bit but generally ok.

@flowersinmay I completely understand. I have seen a BFP once (transfer 3, chemical) but I'm now on transfer 8 so it gets really hard to believe a successful pregnancy can/will ever happen, especially as I'm now 43.

@Justhopeful Wow, congrats! Really strong lines for 8dp. Has your OTD now passed? Did you call the clinic when you first tested or do they only accept the result on OTD?

I'm 12dp5dt. Still haven't tested - my clinic insist you don't until 15dp on a medicated FET. To be honest I've not been tempted to test early because I'm fully expecting another BFN. The cruelty with a chemical is that you can't help looking out for the same TWW symptoms on subsequent transfers, thinking they're the signs of success. So that time I had breast tenderness and major fatigue from 9dp. This time I've had neither and I'm at a later stage. If it had worked I should have had more hCG in my system by now, especially as that one was a chemical so presumably hCG wasn't very high. I know people say no two rounds will be the same (and that BFP transfer was a natural FET and this one is a medicated) but still, you can't help compare.

I've seen so many posts now where people say they had no symptoms then go on to say they have cramps, discharge, tiredness etc etc... In my case apart from some very sporadic and mild stomach twinges (which I'm really not convinced have anything to do with even the meds - think it's digestion!) I have nothing to report. I wish I did!!

The only positive is I've had no bleeding and don't have the feeling that AF is coming. But I didn't on the last medicated FET either, the meds hold AF off. Feeling incredibly despondent. This is my 2nd to last blast and the final one remaining is not good quality.

Hopefull1981 · 04/07/2022 12:48

@lucymills1234 thanks. They advised to take from BFP. My test date is the 17th but I totally will be an early tester. We are lucky here I only ever pay €100 max per month for meds. I got the clexane when I got all the ivf meds in one go. Do you have to pay for all the meds?
Clinic said there I would be on progesterone until week 14 if I am lucky to get a positive. Sheesh that’s a lot of injections .

Keeping everything crossed for you. I never had symptoms with my 3 year old. Everyone is different. I really hope this is a positive cycle for you.

lucymills1234 · 04/07/2022 12:55

@Hopefull1981 €100 for all meds is an amazing deal! For this medicated FET I'm on progynova x3 per day (£1/day), 3x utrogestan (£3/day), Clexane (£8/day) and Lubion (£10/day!). So you can see how quickly it adds up. If I ever miraculously get a BFP I'd have to stay on it all until 12 weeks I think. That would be a big bill but infinitely preferable to more treatment.

Hopefull1981 · 04/07/2022 16:50

@lucymills1234 thats crazy money. It definitely adds up.

did you all take it easy after the transfer? I had a snooze but now raring to go. I don’t know what’s considered too much.

Justhopeful · 04/07/2022 17:21

@lucymills1234 i am really rooting for you, and all hope is not lost as I know lots of people have no symptoms.
I didn’t call the clinic, today is 11dp5dt OTD. So far so good.

so waiting for the first scan. I am terrified.

@Hopefull1981 congratulations on being PUPO. This transfer I tried to stay stress free, We went for walks everyday. Wish you best luck.

All the best, that we all have good news.

Happycrocodile · 05/07/2022 09:49

Morning everyone, how are we all feeling today? I had a dream I was cramping and spotting so woke up in a bit of a funk. But it was just a dream… hopefully! Then I went to Asda because I have a prescription for Utrogestan, I’ve got only enough today, and they didn’t have any! I called 2 others and they had none either! I’ve just called Lloyds and they said they think they have some so I’m heading there and trying not to panic! Need to also buy a preg test because I’d like to test before my blood test on Thursday so o have an idea of the outcome. Zen like state completely out the window!!

Hopefull1981 · 05/07/2022 10:51

@Happycrocodile TWW day 1.. this is going to be along two weeks. I am going to throw myself into work for a week, hopefully the distraction will work. Oh gosh it's a nightmare here with some meds too. I dropped in my prescription to the pharmacy yesterday (520 fematab tablets) I must ring to ensure they have it. When will you test? Keeping everything crossed for you.

Gracie2021 · 05/07/2022 13:02

@Hopefull1981 hope it goes quickly for you. I take it you're not an early tester?

@Happycrocodile I've heard of weird dreams as a pregnancy symptom so you never know 🤞 you've just reminded me I need new meds next week when I'm at the clinic. Hope you manage to track down yours!

Good luck for OTD @Justhopeful. Is this your first BETA?

@lucymills1234 keeping everything crossed for you. Good sign if none of the usual AF signs are there. Wishing you so much good luck.

@flowersinmay @EasterBunny7 @Raspberrydelight hoping the TWW is treating you all kindly.

I'm still lagging behind you all due to my clinics scheduling. Got a new scan and bloods yesterday so just waiting on confirmation that bloods were ok and then start progesterone tomorrow for a transfer Monday. Keeping my fingers crossed no issues.

EasterBunny7 · 05/07/2022 13:52

@Hopefull1981 I'm also curious to know if you'll be testing early? I'm due to start clexane and aspirin from positive pregnancy test. This wasn't just a recommendation from the ivf clinic but separately from the recurrent miscarriage unit too. If this had been a natural pregnancy, I'd be starting the medication from whenever I get the bfp, not delay it to 13dp5dt.

I really want to give this embryo the best possible chance. The medication is key during these early stages. What shall I do?

EasterBunny7 · 05/07/2022 13:57

@Gracie2021 we eagerly await you joining us in PUPO! 6 more days to go.

My TWW experience comparison with previous TWWs: similarity: belly tenderness/stitch like pain and difference: no vivid dreams this time round.

EasterBunny7 · 05/07/2022 14:03

I would also love to hear how everyone else is doing in PUPO? 😊

Gracie2021 · 05/07/2022 14:42

Thanks @EasterBunny7 but no luck for now. I'll probably bow out into the background again for a little bit I'm afraid guys. Just got the call from our clinic cancelling this transfer. The delay due to their bloody scheduling issues was too much and my bloods aren't where they should be. I'm assuming I ovulated or am just about to. So three weeks of steroids and isolating wasted and for nothing. So angry and upset. Back to waiting for CD1 so we can start the whole thing again.... so sick of waiting.
