Is anyone starting ivf in March/April?
Have had confirmation today I will be starting treatment in March. Been prescribed norethisterone, which I have to take CD21 of my next period (due next week).

Hi. I am due to start bureselin injections on day 21 of this cycle which will be the 20th Feb. Then due to have egg retrieval on 22nd March. Not long now! Is this your first IVF cycle? Its mine and still not quite sure what to expect!

beachbum85 · 04/02/2021 20:42

Hi!
I'm also due to start buserelin injections on day 21 of this cycle, which will be 21 Feb, and it's also my first cycle and I'm excited, scared, hopeful, worried, sad, and everything in between... can't imagine what I'm going to be like once I'm on the meds!
Glad to find others to go through this with :)

Donimo · 04/02/2021 21:38

@beachbum85 looks like we will be a similar protocol and timeline! Feeling exactly the same as you.

@Noirberry19 and @beachbum85 What are your histories? We are having ICSI as I have low AMH and my husband has low sperm count. All came as a bit of a surprise at the end of last year

beachbum85 · 04/02/2021 21:44

I also have low AMH (5.8) at 35, I have a blocked tube, and I had a thyroid issue which is now sorted out.
My partner's first SA was very good, the second was borderline, so they will decide on IVF or ICSI depending on his sample on the day.
We had been trying for a while, did test throughout 2019, and were referred for IVF last October. I thought we might have been in fr a longer wait (NHS) but so glad to be starting soon!

What about you?

Donimo · 04/02/2021 21:56

I am also 35 and AMH is 3.5. I only have 1 tube, as I had 1 removed due to a previous ruptured ectopic pregnancy 3 years ago. We are paying privately as we are lucky enough to have an almost 2 year old (conceived naturally). So quite a shock to get these results. And now consider our daughter a little miracle considering our results and she was conceived very soon after the ectopic. Where are you having treatment?

Noirberry19 · 04/02/2021 22:48

Hello everyone, so glad you've joined for some support!
First ivf cycle for us too. Originally diagnosed with pcos, but as the time has gone on, they think it may be just pco? Over 2 years since the initial gp appointment, so will be glad to go ahead with ivf now! 2 recent cancelled iui due to overstimulation on 1st cycle and 2nd cycle not responding at all.

If all goes well, egg collection will be week commencing 29th March! 🍀🤞🏼

@Donimo yes, it is my first! I feel so stupid when I'm at the clinic because I keep asking questions because I'm so clueless with it all 🥴 you're ahead of me with your dates. Have to have the tablets so they can control how many patients are being seen at one time.
Sorry to learn of your ectopic. Must've been really difficult for you ❤️

@beachbum85 welcome! As @Donimo has already said, looks like you're really close with your cycles!

Luck to us all 🍀😘

beachbum85 · 05/02/2021 08:48

@Donimo yes, really close with our cycles, and the AMH/tube issues. Really sorry about your ectopic, but so happy for you that your little girl arrived soon after. Hopefully it's a sign that your body will know what to do ;)

@Noirberry19 thanks! Glad I found this chat!

Our first treatment and lots of questions to the nurses over the phone already! We haven't tried IUI or anything... Straight to IVF. We're at Bart's on the NHS.

beachbum85 · 05/02/2021 08:49

And yes, lots of good luck all around!! Keeping my fingers crossed for all of us!!

BeHereNowx32 · 05/02/2021 08:51

Hi. I will be doing a FET in March/ April (was postponed a month due to COVID).
I already have a DD, which I conceived on our 4th transfer. (3rd fresh). I also had a successful FET in July, but this ended in miscarriage.
Hopefully it’s ok that I join, even though I’m doing a frozen transfer. I am very nervous about doing it all again, especially as this is our last frozen embryo.
Good luck to everyone.

Noirberry19 · 05/02/2021 13:23

@beachbum85 🤞🏼🤞🏼

@BeHereNowx32 of course it's fine to join!
Sorry you had to go through a miscarriage. Hope you're doing ok.
Thank you. Good luck to you too 🍀🤞🏼
I've been told I could potentially need FET, as due to my pco, I'm at higher risk of ohss. I'm hoping not though because it'll mean transfer 2 months later! Hoping for a fresh so I don't have to wait any longer. The waiting is one of the worst parts isn't it?!

beachbum85 · 05/02/2021 14:37

hi @BeHereNowx32
So sorry to hear about your miscarriage... It's nice to have you here and hopefully we can help calm each others' nerves. I'm sure you have a lot of valuable insight that the rest of us don't yet have, too :)
Good luck back to you!

Donimo · 05/02/2021 18:09

Hi everyone, nice to here from you all and good luck to all. Its definitely good to get other insights, as always better to be prepared. But realising there are so many unknowns in all of this! But not long now for us all after all the waits

Narwhal88 · 06/02/2021 00:01

Hi all
I got the call today to book in for my first IVF cycle. Severe male infertility and possible endo/adenomyosis (not confirmed). I am on short protocol starting norethisterone on 2nd March, egg collection around 29th March. I have a fairly high AMH for my age so at possible risk of OHSS hence the short protocol. Will be good to chat to those going through the same thing!

Geep · 06/02/2021 08:05

Hi all. Im hoping to start on April (dont know dates yet). This will be our second go - we had a unsucessful round in november and unfortunately nothing to freeze so starting all over again.
Good luck to everyone

elsaesmeralda · 06/02/2021 09:42

Is it okay to join? I've just had my first FET cancelled due to my lining not responding. Obviously really upset but going to focus on starting again. Looks to be end of March/April for a transfer providing all goes well with the next lot of medication for the fet

Noirberry19 · 06/02/2021 11:24

Hello everyone 😊 glad you've all joined!

@Narwhal88 those are the dates I've been given too! Although could change slightly if period is earlier/later. I'm also higher risk of ohss due to pco!

@Geep sorry your last round was unsuccessful. Sending hugs. Wish you all the luck in the world for your next round 🍀🤞🏼🤞🏼

@elsaesmeralda of course it is!
Sorry it was cancelled. Hope you're doing ok (as can be) fingers crossed for your next transfer 🍀🤞🏼

Hi everyone,

Hopefully you have some room for one more! This is my first IVF ICIS cycle, I started my down regs yesterday and start stims injections March 7th! On a short protocol as I’m high risk of OHSS but egg collection has been booked for 19th March. Would be great to chat to other people going through this too, currently feeling like the only one in the world!

Donimo · 06/02/2021 18:28

Hi there everyone, looks like quite a few of us starting very soon Confused.

@Narwhal88 sounds like you will be about a week behind me in protocol. My egg retrieval is predicted to be 22nd March.

@Geep and @elsaesmeralda sorry your last rounds were not successful. Hoping this time is better for you both.

@TTCbabyH looks like your schedule will be about 2 days ahead of me... so going through the stims together! I should be starting these on 9th March if all goes to plan!

TTCbabyH · 06/02/2021 18:54

@Donimo oh so close with our cycles! Really nice to chat to other people going through this, seems like such a daunting process! My clinic sent me my plan yesterday and I was mind blown trying to work out what all the different drugs were. Hoping it all comes a bit clearer as we go through!

elsaesmeralda · 06/02/2021 18:56

Thanks @Donimo and @Noirberry19

Forgot to mention in first post I have one ds already, naturally conceived but have pcos hence the need for help conceiving a second. I did a short protocol and had my egg collection in December where we managed to get 17 eggs and have 9 embryos in the freezer. So, as upset as I am this first fet got cancelled I'm aware we have a few to go through if need be. Doesn't make it any less frustrating though!

Wishing you all the best of luck whether it be first cycle or second etc and hope we can all support each other through the journey 💕

TTCbabyH · 06/02/2021 19:03

@elsaesmeralda wow 9 embryos in the freezer is great, really hoping this works for you 🥰 How did you find the egg collection process? I’m really anxious about that bit

Donimo · 06/02/2021 19:04

@TTCbabyH I don't have a clue with the medications, but they are currently sat in the fridge! I know what to do from 20th Feb till my first scan on 8th March. Then hoping they will remind me what to do next!!

@elsaesmeralda I have a daughter naturally conceived, she's nearly 2 now. How old is your son? Sorry about your first fet was cancelled but good news with the 9 in the freezer

elsaesmeralda · 06/02/2021 19:37

@TTCbabyH aw thanks!! Egg collection was absolutely fine! I was really nervous about it too but honestly once in there they lay you down, give you the drugs and by the time the mask was put on my face I was gone and didn't wake up til afterwards in recovery! Try not to worry, I know it's easy for someone who's been through it already to say that though!

@Donimo my ds is 6! So very conscious of the gap getting bigger and bigger. Is this your first time ivf ?
Yes we got a good number in the freezer just itching to get one put back in now 😆

BeHereNowx32 · 07/02/2021 07:50

@Noirberry19 @beachbum85 thank you for the welcome. I will try hard to keep up with everyone’s posts. The thread is getting busy now, which is nice.

@beachbum85 I can try answer questions :) I started ivf 5 years ago. So, can’t remember it all, but can try!

@elsaesmeralda 9 frozen embryos is amazing!! I’ve never had many eggs retrieved. I did get 2 frozen embryos from my last cycle (one left).

@TTCbabyH I was nervous before my first egg collection. But actually ended up quite enjoying it... it’s like a really lovely sleep. Then, they bring you a cup of tea and biscuits while you lie in bed! It’s nerve wracking before you know how many eggs they have collected though. They do tell you straight away. All the best when your time comes.

TTCbabyH · 07/02/2021 08:36

@elsaesmeralda @BeHereNowx32 thanks both for the reassurance. That’s really useful to know!! Let’s hope 2021 brings us all something wonderful 🤞🏻
