Is anyone starting ivf in March/April?
Have had confirmation today I will be starting treatment in March. Been prescribed norethisterone, which I have to take CD21 of my next period (due next week).

@Hazza2021 yes my first round, my little girl was a bit of a miracle natural conception! Which I found out I was pregnant with her on my 33rd birthday, the best present ever! My clinic are not doing covid swab till 3 days before egg retrieval (19th March) and then have to isolate from then officially and only me that needs to isolate. But we are all going to isolate from the week before to make sure the covid swab is negative.

Hi @NHSivfhopeful I hope you get your dates soon and can start soon.

Donimo · 15/02/2021 13:10

@Hazza2021 what are you doing to try to improve your egg quality?

Hazza2021 · 15/02/2021 13:46

@Donimo wow what a lovely birthday present! Well if I’m honest I’m not sure there is anything but I have read plenty of protein and fruit/veg are a good place to start. Drinking lots of water and cutting out caffeine and alcohol. I go to acupuncture once a week but that’s only because I went for my 1st round and fell pregnant, but there is also people it don’t work for so I’m sure we will find out this round. How are you feeling about it all?

Donimo · 15/02/2021 15:52

@Hazza2021 I am kind of already following the diet since christmas. Although not being massively strict about it. Keep telling myself I will when we start treatment! But need to sort that now really!!

Hey everyone Smile
Just had a call from the nurse and it's starting to feel real now. We have our appointment next Friday for bloods and medication demos. We have more consent forms to fill out online and then they get us to sign in person.

She said I will start day two on menopur 150 and then scan between day 5-8!! Seems a long time to wait!

My husband is scared of needles though so he really isn't looking forward to next week for bloods and I will need to do all my injections myself. Anyone else the same?

Freya2015 · 16/02/2021 16:42

Hi @6543336787gesgvjhg I am going to be calling my nhs clinic on Friday to find out what is happening as mine got delayed from January due to covid

Ohhh sorry to hear this. Sad I'm trying not to think too much about future dates and so much can affect it and then throwing covid into the mix as well!!
Freya2015 · 16/02/2021 17:30

@6543336787gesgvjhg are you with NHS too?

6543336787gesgvjhg · 16/02/2021 19:44

@Freya2015 we have one NHS round but our doctors placed us with The Fertility Partnership in Nottingham. Where we live we get one NHS round with three years freezing.

Margwit · 16/02/2021 19:46

Hi I started my first cycle this month, long protocol, I’m single so having to use donor sperm. I started my buserilin injections on 7th Feb, so a few weeks ahead of some of you ladies, the scariest part so far was plucking up the courage to stab myself for the first time, but it was actually fine and didn’t hurt at all. I’ve had none of the normal side effects yet but am getting shooting pains in my ovaries which is starting to freak me out a bit, trying not to overthink it but with no partner to bounce things off I resorted to Dr Google (which is never a good idea) I really don’t want to become neurotic and phone the clinic for every little twinge but Dr Google has put the wind up me a bit......serves me right for googling I guess!
Good luck to everyone xx

TTCbabyH · 16/02/2021 20:25

I've recently found a podcast - bigfatnegative and I'm loving listening to it. Think it's going to help me through treatment, makes me feel less crazy and to avoid dr google!

IVFninja · 16/02/2021 20:43

Hey everyone. I start injecting buselerin tomorrow ahead of my first FET in a few weeks after my first fresh cycle was cancelled by the clinic as I was quite unwell after the egg collection. My DH and I are having IVF with ICSI due to a low count.

I’m 35 with AMH of 12.5 and I responded reasonably well to the stims - 9 eggs were collected and 5 fertilised; 2 made it to 5 day blast, 1 is a morelar (!) and 2 are day 3 all of which are frozen. I’ve been told my blasts are “good” rather than excellent.

Anyway, I collected my meds today and I’m just feeling a bit down in the dumps. I’m worried my blasts aren’t good enough as the embryologist wasn’t very positive and when my embryo transfer for the fresh cycle was cancelled on the day (when I arrived at the clinic - huge internal miscommunication) I’m a bit scarred by it all.

Has anyone on here been pregnant from average/good embryos? Worried my AMH is bombing too as I think it’s on the lower side of average. Wishing everyone luck for all new cycles xx

Hazza2021 · 16/02/2021 20:58

@IVFninja Hi I hope you don’t mind messaging but I have been through an IVF cycle which ended with my almost 14 month old little boy. I started off with 11 eggs where only 4 fertilised. I had 1 left at day 5 and he was a 3ab so not the best of grade. So it is still possible that everything will work out. I have my fingers crossed for you.

I start my buserelin injections on Sunday and even though I have been through it once I still feel so apprehensive about everything. I just need to try and stay positive.

Hazza2021 · 16/02/2021 21:02

@Margwit I am also doing this all alone. I have a little boy by donor and I’m attempting it again for a sibling. I’m so excited but also scared at the same time. Fingers crossed everything works out for you!

IVFninja · 16/02/2021 21:05

@hazza2021 Your response is just what I needed to hear after more tears and worry today. Thank you so so much 😘
Guessing youre starting a fresh transfer, I’ve everything crossed for you too xx

Hazza2021 · 16/02/2021 21:11

@IVFninja yes I’m having a fresh transfer as I had no embryos to freeze. I don’t have any scans booked until 8th March, our clinic are not even doing baseline scans so I think that’s why I feel more nervous this time round. At least before I knew how many follicles there were before I took the stims but this time I have no clue. Never mind I suppose they must know what they are doing.

Margwit · 16/02/2021 22:43

@Hazza2021 thank you, it’s very reassuring to hear you were successful and that you made it through on your own and are still willing to do it again :) makes me feel a bit more confident that I’ll be fine, fingers crossed you get that sibling!

Alexm06 · 17/02/2021 10:32

Hey guys!

Hopping in this thread. I was originally on the Feb/March one but had a scan last week whilst on provera and she found a cyst which was taking up my whole ovary so said I would need to com back when my period started. It started yesterday and went in today for a scan and apparently the cyst has gotten a bit bigger so have had to cancel this cycle. It’s soo frustrating when I have all the medication at home but can’t use it.

So yeah it now have a scan on 9th so see if it’s gone down to start provera again for a week and then hopefully start injections a few days later! This is my second round after my first cycle ended in a miss miscarriage and no frozen eggs so doing the whole cycle again on a higher dose of menopur to hopefully get some frozen ones this time.

How are you guys all feeling about it all starting soon?

beachbum85 · 17/02/2021 15:56

Hi everyone, and welcome to everyone who has joined!

I'm very excited about starting yet, like @Hazza2021, a bit apprehensive.
How are you feeling @Alexm06? I'm very sorry to hear about your miscarriage, and the frustrating cyst, and I hope you can start soon.
@NHSivfhopeful and @Freya2015 I really hope you get your dates soon too. I found waiting really hard...

@IVFninja how was your first Buserelin injection today? I hope you're feeling better today. I don't know if this will reduce your worry, but I'm also 35 and my AMH is much lower at 5.8, and I've been told it's not too late - I hope they're right!

@Margwit has the pain subsided? Thank you so much for sharing that the first injection wasn't too bad :)
And thanks for the podcast recommendation @TTCbabyH

Best of luck to all! And especially to those in it 'on their own' - it's not the same as real life support, but we're here when you'd like to talk

Alexm06 · 17/02/2021 17:14

@beachbum85 at the moment I’m just frustrated but I’m getting over starting a bit later then expected.
I have no idea what my AMH is. I don’t think anyone’s told me they just say everything looks normal and we are unexplained. Well apart from the cyst haha. But yeah if it’s not gone down in 3 weeks I’ll have to wait till the next month and so on and so on. I did a bad thing and Googled how long a 6cm cyst takes to go and apparently it’s 2-3 months so yeah that’s great!

IVFbabyF · 17/02/2021 17:14

Hi All,

I have started reading the past couple of days and journal-ling to see if this helps with the waiting anxiety, I have found that it actually has (a little), i highly recommend The IVF positivity planner by Sarah Banks and Get a Life His & Hers Survival Guide to IVF.

I call the clinic on my next period due date and then start down regulation 21 days after, I have never wanted AF to turn up in my life, but still a few weeks away yet!

Looking forward to sharing the journey with people going through the same, its so hard to talk about with people that dont know what you are experiencing.

elsaesmeralda · 17/02/2021 17:44

Hello to all the new ladies who have joined 🙋🏼‍♀️

My meds arrive tomorrow for my FET. Don't start buserelin until 3rd March, seems agessss away

lucymills1234 · 17/02/2021 18:21

Hi @Margwit I'm on the Feb/March thread as I've started stims today, but thought I'd reply to you as I'm also doing this solo with a donor.

I had my first round last Nov/Dec, sadly ended in a BFN despite a 5AA blast. But, just wanted to say that although it can get tough doing this alone, it's definitely do-able, which is why I'm back for round 2! Personally I found the trickiest part was the 2WW as the activity of the earlier stages was over and time dragged, especially if there's no-one to see that wait through with you. If there's anything you can plan to occupy you during that time (hard during lockdown!) it might help it go faster.

I really hope you get a positive result but I'd recommend blocking out your test day if you can. I thought I'd braced myself for that day but was still a mess (and had to work...) and it was the loneliest I'd felt during the entire process. I don't want to sound negative as there is every chance it'll be a joyful day for you! But a day off will give you a chance to let things sink in, whatever the result.

Feel free to message and good luck!

Donimo · 17/02/2021 18:32

Hi to all. Sounds like everyone is starting now or due to start very soon, good luck to you all. 3 days to go till I start taking bureselin! Feeling a little anxious about it all now! Thinking I should watch some videos about how to inject it, as forgotten it from my nurse demo (which was approx 5 seconds) already! How is everyone else feeling?

elsaesmeralda · 17/02/2021 18:48

@Donimo this is your first round isn't it?? I thought the injections would be the worst part but actually they was the easiest for me. The needle should have a sharper side, if you use that it shouldn't hurt! I kept blunting my needles on the vial or using the wrong side and found the needle wouldn't go in, but if I used the sharp side i didn't feel a thing!
I've never injected buserelin though so don't know if it stings, I know fyremadel does though!
