Hello everyone, I am due to start IVF in March. Will be a short protocol on my March period which is due around 12th March (our 4 year wedding anniversary!!) The Doctor said there is a lot of prep for them so will have to wait until March cycle and on day one to contact them. In the meantime me and my husband need to have blood test HIV?! and more consent forms and to be shown how to use the injections. There is so much to take in. Is this the same for you? Take care everyone x

@Noirberry19

Hello everyone, so glad you've joined for some support! First ivf cycle for us too. Originally diagnosed with pcos, but as the time has gone on, they think it may be just pco? Over 2 years since the initial gp appointment, so will be glad to go ahead with ivf now! 2 recent cancelled iui due to overstimulation on 1st cycle and 2nd cycle not responding at all.

If all goes well, egg collection will be week commencing 29th March! 🍀🤞🏼

@Donimo yes, it is my first! I feel so stupid when I'm at the clinic because I keep asking questions because I'm so clueless with it all 🥴 you're ahead of me with your dates. Have to have the tablets so they can control how many patients are being seen at one time.
Sorry to learn of your ectopic. Must've been really difficult for you ❤️

@beachbum85 welcome! As @Donimo has already said, looks like you're really close with your cycles!

Luck to us all 🍀😘

So glad I found this app! Are you on a short protocol? My AMH is 36.5 I'm nearly 32. They said a short protocol because of the risk on ovarian stimulation.
6543336787gesgvjhg · 07/02/2021 11:09

@Narwhal88

Hi all I got the call today to book in for my first IVF cycle. Severe male infertility and possible endo/adenomyosis (not confirmed). I am on short protocol starting norethisterone on 2nd March, egg collection around 29th March. I have a fairly high AMH for my age so at possible risk of OHSS hence the short protocol. Will be good to chat to those going through the same thing!
Hello, we will be very similar. We have been told to wait for March period expected 12th March to start short protocol! What stage are you at now? Have you had blood test for HIV and something else? Waiting for my Feb period now to know the dates better. Never wanted a period to come so badly haha xx
TTCbabyH · 07/02/2021 11:52

@6543336787gesgvjhg we’ve been asked to do them bloods too along with hepatitis, think it’s just standard protocol x

6543336787gesgvjhg · 07/02/2021 12:23

@TTCbabyH thank you for your reply 😁 I've just read your message above to say your on short protocol too and starting down regulation. I've not been told about down regulation. Just to contact them on day one of my period. It's all so confusing isn't it. Should be due on 12th March to start the process. 😁 xx

Donimo · 07/02/2021 12:24

@6543336787gesgvjhg, we both had to had all those bloods last month. I haven't heard anything so guess they are fine. So think they are standard. I was the same with my period last week, and then it was 4 days late!! But my schedule hasnt really changed, but I am on the long protocol.

@BeHereNowx32 its is a lovely age... in between the 2 year old tantrums!! Hopefully we both have a 2-3 year age between our children (which is what I wanted)

TTCbabyH · 07/02/2021 12:33

@6543336787gesgvjhg no worries there is so much to it all! Not every clinic does that part of the process - mine are because they said it gives them control over my dates (think they’re trying to prevent too many in the clinic at once due to covid!) so injections don’t start until 7th March! My egg reserve bloods came back as 38.7 due to my PCOS so I’m quite high risk of OHSS too xx

Narwhal88 · 07/02/2021 17:12

@Noirberry19 good to have some cycle buddies! Yeah my dates could change too.

@Donimo yeah exactly a week! My egg collection is 29th March at the moment!

@6543336787gesgvjhg yes we are similar! I have another period inbetween but mine is due 12th March too. However they want to control the start date so I have to be on norethisterone 2nd March to 11th March. We have bloods on 15th Feb for the HIV/hepatitis etc. We already had them done but it needs to be within 3 months.

6543336787gesgvjhg · 07/02/2021 17:40

@Noirberry19 😁😁 nice to hear from you. Think you are slightly ahead of us with everything at the moment even though our dates are the same. Only had our treatment consultation on Friday and I have been told to send a message in when I come on this month expected 12th Feb to confirm and get the ball rolling with bloods and more consent forms. Have you been given a date of when they show you how to do the injections?

beachbum85 · 08/02/2021 13:52

Welcome to everyone who joined in over the weekend!
And thank you @BeHereNowx32 for offering to help where you can :)

@TTCbabyH seems like we're almost cycle buddies along with @Donimo! My egg collection is supposed to be week of 22 Mar TBC.
And then @Narwhal88 and @Noirberry19 just after. Glad to be going through this with all of you!

@Geep and @elsaesmeralda I'm sorry to hear of your unsuccessful/cancelled cycles. Hoping this time round will be your time :)
@elsaesmeralda congrats on your 9 embryos!! That's really great!

@6543336787gesgvjhg we are supposed to have a virtual session on Wed to learn about the medication and to finalise our schedule and the consent forms. We got a whole lot of stuff to watch, read, and fill in online in the meantime... I'll keep you posted once that's over to let you know how it went.

TTCbabyH · 08/02/2021 19:05

@beachbum85 I know can't believe how close! I've not had a lesson on injecting, just was sent a few videos!! Did you request a virtual session or was this offered? Might see if my clinic will do that with me as I'm so nervous... always had a needle phobia which isn't great when you get told IVF is your only hope!!

elsaesmeralda · 08/02/2021 19:20

Thanks @beachbum85

I'm still feeling abit down in the dumps atm I think it's more due to having to wait another month or so to start again! Knowing we've got those embryos waiting I just want one put in 😆 impatient!

Babyvibes · 08/02/2021 19:40

Hi ladies im also due to start ivf treatment in March. My partner has had his sperm test and I have had my scan on ovaries. Good womb lining and only 1 bad ovary due to having pcos. This is our 2nd attempt of ivf but first one failed and had to do icsi which failed. We have however before that fallen pregnant from gonal f injections but miscarried at 6 weeks. Its almost 6 year since. Been together for 11 years with no natural conception at all. We had a 2 year break after our last treatment and now feeling very excited and nervious at the same time. Its definatly a rollercoaster of emotions 🙃 so on my scan last week my good ovaries has about 12-14 follicles which is fab, some small and about 3 which were a little bigger but not big enough the nurse said, but thats what we need. I ovulate every month but for some reason it just never happens. We have our consultation on 1st March to discuss my partners sperm results and my blood and scan results then we are ready to go!! 😁 how exciting i hope all of you get the miracle i know we all dream of having one day. 🥰 im also very nervous for egg retrieval but I was for icsi and that didn't hurt a bit although I know egg retrieval is more intense im sure we will all be fine and its worth it in the end ladies xx

beachbum85 · 08/02/2021 22:09

Hi @Babyvibes! I'm sorry to hear about your previous unsuccessful cycle, and I hope this one will be better. I've been with my partner 12 years now, trying actively for a couple of years, but never a natural conception either. And I know I ovulate too... Very frustrating isn't it?! Fingers crossed for this time!

@TTCbabyH this virtual info session was offered - I'm not sure if they'll show us how to inject, or if it's just about dosage and storage and stuff, but I really hope they do as I have absolutely no clue how to go about any of this! I'll definitely try ask if they don't mention it! And I'm trying to convince my partner to do the injecting as I prefer not to look, but so far that plan is failing! If this isn't a good reason to work through the needle phobia, I don't know what can be :)

Noirberry19 · 09/02/2021 12:20

Hi everyone. I am trying to keep up with everyone's posts and am reading them all to see your journeys. So sorry for the struggles you've all been through. Wishing us all luck 🍀🤞🏼

@6543336787gesgvjhg

It's good they're getting the ball rolling for you though!
I don't know if my cycle will be late this month, as it's been playing up last few months. So annoying because I need to take tablets on cd21 of next cycle so that will delay it if it's late.
We had the last appt on Thursday. They gave us all the medications etc. and literally just waiting for period now and then the tablets on cd21 for 9 days prior to treatment commencing in March then.

Good luck everyone!

Just to ask has anyone been following a certain diet or plan to when IVF starts? Or am I just thinking too much into it all?

Donimo · 09/02/2021 16:11

@6543336787gesgvjhg I have loosely been eating a Mediterranean diet as I have read this has possibly been linked to increased success. Also eating more green vegs, Spinach, broccoli, asparagus etc. Also brought some pineapple today as heard this can be good. But I'm not being overly strict though (and still allowing myself the odd sweet treat!) As I think stressing over foods too much could be worse anyway. But my husband and I have not had any alcohol at all since Christmas. As it maybe a coincidence but my 2 precious conceptions occurred when we both didn't drink for a month. I really think being healthy as much as possible whilst not going over board is the best way. Are you following anything or read anything?

BeHereNowx32 · 09/02/2021 16:46

@6543336787gesgvjhg I was the same as Domino. Ate healthy most of the time, didn’t drink alcohol or caffeine. I also ate lots of protein during stimming injections, and drank pomegranate juice and raspberry leaf tea to thicken lining.
I can’t say I’m doing very well for this FET. I just can’t be bothered 🙈 but will try start soon. I think it helps to feel like you’re a little bit more in control too. Since we can’t control much with this process!

Received my letter today. So, I need to actually confirm that I’m going agead with treatment. Might just leave them a voicemail tonight, or I will forget otherwise.

6543336787gesgvjhg · 09/02/2021 18:28

@BeHereNowx32 @Donimo pretty similar. I haven't drunk for nearly a year if not longer, only used to drink when I went out with girls so lockdowns helped with that and have had decaf tea for over two years. We have spinach, avocados, olive oil etc, have fruit and veg most days. Me eating an avocado isn't going to change the outcome hahaGrin it's frustrating as I have friends that eat so badly and become pregnant naturally but that's a whole other story Angry

I have also tried fertility massages, warm my tummy, don't walk on cold tiles, keep feet warm, reflexology, take temperature, using ovulation kits and none of that seemed to work either.

We can only do what we can do and I'm happy we are all on our IVF path together. XxX hopefully all have December babies together too

beachbum85 · 10/02/2021 10:31

Good morning everyone! Quick update as we just had the virtual session, where the nurse went through the consent forms we had filled in online, gave us the schedule for the first part of the treatment (Buserelin injections starting 22 Feb, COVID swab, and baseline scan) and, yes @TTCbabyH, she did explain how to prepare and inject the Buserelin.

I was already so nervous I had a tummyache... I'm going to be a wreck by egg collection :/

Apart from that, I have been trying to eat healthier, with more fruit and veg (my partner is already great at this although he likes his coffee too much), but still enjoy a glasses of wine a couple of times a week. Planning to stop that now, and try to keep my sweet tooth under control.
And I have done a bit of acupuncture and looking into starting again... it helps calm me down, if nothing else!

Virtual hugs to all and lots of luck! :)

TTCbabyH · 10/02/2021 11:45

@beachbum85 I'm not on Burselin but all of my injections all I've been sent is a video link as to how to do them. I spoke to my clinic yesterday and they said if we have any problems just to ring them. Only problem is I've been told to do my injections between 6-8 PM and they close at 4pm... so I'm absolutely terrified Incase we can't work it out! Such a nightmare with covid not being able to have all the sessions that we should be 🤯 I'm sure we'll all be fine! By the time we've got 1 out of the way we'll be feeling loads better.

I also got told my egg collection is under sedation rather than GA too which I didn't know.. I'll be awake through it!

beachbum85 · 10/02/2021 12:01

@TTCbabyH yes, I think you're right and we'll be fine once the first one is done. The nurse did make it seem pretty straightforward, and told us that there will be written instructions too... so hopefully with all this info, and possibly advice from people on here who have already done it, we'll manage :)

I only got info up to baseline scans for now, but the info pack mentioned egg collection under sedation and I was surprised too! It did say that most women have absolutely no recollection of it though - I really hope so.

elsaesmeralda · 10/02/2021 12:04

@beachbum85 @TTCbabyH just wanted to say regarding the 'under sedation' for egg collection that I was completely out of it! Don't remember a thing, I remember having a little dream and waking up talking about it 😳 try not to worry about it it's probably one of the easiest bits in my opinion.
Some advice for after is a hot water bottle, I was in quite abit of pain for about three days before it eased off, lots of bloating and trapped wind feelings which got worse if I lay down, so try to stay propped up in bed etc!

TTCbabyH · 10/02/2021 12:23

@elsaesmeralda that's great to know thank you that's really put my mind at ease.

We've got this got to think of the end result 🥰
