Is anyone starting ivf in March/April?
Have had confirmation today I will be starting treatment in March. Been prescribed norethisterone, which I have to take CD21 of my next period (due next week).

Has anyone done a FET before? I’ve started injecting buselerin on day 21 last week and I should start my p this week and then I need to give the clinic a call. Does anyone know approx how long it takes from here? Clinic being very vague regarding timescales until I start my period and it would be nice to have a rough idea!

Hope everyone’s doing well xo

elsaesmeralda · 22/02/2021 11:08

@Donimo hi! No date yet, start buserelin on day 21 which is 3rd March. I'm thinking it's Gona be the end of March/April, So ages lol

elsaesmeralda · 22/02/2021 11:25

@IVFninja my last one was cancelled so having to start again. From my protocol I start buserelin day 21 and have a period in that time. It then says they book me in for a scan around 7 days after day 1 of period to confirm down regulation and have a blood test, once confirmed start fet regime, have a lining scan around day 12 and if all is well progesterone is started on day 15 which you then take for 5 days before transfer. So by my protocol it looks to be around 4ish weeks from starting down reg to transfer. Hope that helps !

Narwhal88 · 22/02/2021 12:18

@ForeverHopeful17 we are on the same protocol so when my meds come tomorrow I'll check what I have along with any needles etc and let you know.

ForeverHopeful17 · 22/02/2021 13:08

@Donimo thank you, that's a good shout. I will contact some of my local pharmacies to see if they are any better.

Thank you @beachbum85 that at least gives me an idea.

Thank you so much @Narwhal88 that will be super helpful.

Noirberry19 · 22/02/2021 15:08

Afternoon everyone! Hope you're all doing ok. I feel so doom and gloom, but I feel ok wishing my life away waiting for next week. It'll only be to start norethisterone, but just will feel like it's getting started.

@Donimo I didn't know that ovaries weren't attached either! Hope you're feeling ok after injections.

@Narwhal88 I know how you feel...I hate thinking how complex everything is with it 🥴 it is good we're all on here for support!

@Hazza2021 hope you're ok after your first injection 😘

@ForeverHopeful17 definitely! A few close family members know, but I find they just annoy me when I speak to them because it's all just unhelpful comments that agitate me 🥴 glad I have all you ladies to talk to.

@beachbum85 hope you're also doing ok with injections! I've heard a few mention about a little bit left after injecting so wouldn't worry 😊

@IVFninja no experience with FET, but wishing you luck and hope you're feeling ok!

@elsaesmeralda will be end of March/April for me too. Can't wait to get started now!

Best of luck to everyone and hope you're all doing ok as one can be!

Donimo · 22/02/2021 15:35

@beachbum85 glad your first injection went well. When is your baseline scan?

@Noirberry19 sorry you are feeling down today but there really isn't long to wait now. Look at us wishing our lives away till we can start stabbing ourselves!!

Hazza2021 · 22/02/2021 15:41

@Noirberry19 Hi I feel okay thank you. I just hope it stays that way. I can’t really remember if I got any side affects before but so far so good. Are you on bureselin and when do you start yours?

beachbum85 · 22/02/2021 16:06

Thanks for that reassurance @Noirberry19
I figured that a tiny bit less on Day 1 won't change much, but it's good to know we're not the only ones fiddling around here like newbies :)
I also wanted to let my partner do it when usually I want to be in control of everything, so it took some restraint but all good so far, except that I feel really hungry today... I think that must just be in my mind though!
I hope time flies for you... waiting at each step is always so hard.

@Donimo my baseline scan is on Tues 9th, and yours?

I'll be honest, I had absolutely no idea that ovaries weren't attached either, right until my hycosy! :D

Noirberry19 · 22/02/2021 16:39

@Donimo I know...unbelievable really isn't it, but I guess we're just looking forward to a possible good outcome 🤞🏼!

@Hazza2021 glad you're ok.
I start norethisterone on 3rd March and whenever my cycle starts, I will definitely start cetrotide on cd6. Not sure when I will take Bemfola, but I think they'll tell me when I call up when my period starts.

@beachbum85 yeah, don't worry. 😘
I had my partner do mine when we had our iui's too. He'll be doing it again this time around because I can't do it myself!
Thank you...you too. It is one of the hardest parts. Hate the waiting.

Hoping to jump in on this thread. I have egg collection this week but it's a freeze all so it's looking like an egg transfer in April.

Noirberry19 · 23/02/2021 07:42

@hopefulhel welcome! Wishing you luck for your FET!

OP posts:
hopefulhel · 23/02/2021 08:16

@noirberry19 thank you. Egg collection tomorrow so hopefully will have something to transfer. Estrogen levels were 14000 so the doctor recommended a freeze all. I've been feeling rather miserable the last few days so no harm in letting my body recover.

ForeverHopeful17 · 23/02/2021 08:52

@Noirberry19 I feel exactly the same as you. I'm wishing my life away waiting for Sunday to start Noreistherone, then I'll be waiting for CD1, then I'll be waiting for egg collection etc. I feel like I'm constantly wishing my life away

@hopefulhel welcome and all the best for your egg collection tomorrow, I hope you get lots of mature eggs x

Donimo · 23/02/2021 09:07

@beachbum85 my baseline scan is 8th March. I was a bit concerned this maybe a little late as the initial protocol I was sent said baseline scan first Monday after af (which is due this friday). But the fact your scan is at the same time the 8th March must be correct.

Welcome @hopefulhel sounds like it will be good for you to recover a little first. How are you feeling now? Hope your egg collection goes well tomorrow, let us know

@Hazza2021 hope everything is going well, how are you feeling now? I don't have any side effects from bureselin yet. But am concerned about these as I commonly have lots of side effects from medications... can't normally tolerate anything stronger than paracetamol and with my pregnancy had awful sickness from several days prior to my af being due.

hopefulhel · 23/02/2021 09:27

@donimo I feel much better today but the last few days I've been so bloating and eek so sick. Last night was particularly bad but I feel fine this morning. I have around 23/25 follicles measuring between 16/22mm as of my scan yesterday morning. So am hoping tomorrow goes well. I took my trigger last night at 10p.m. and am booked in for ten in the morning.

Hazza2021 · 23/02/2021 10:06

@Donimo Hi I feel okay I don’t seem to be having any side effects yet but I don’t remember feeling too bad when I did it before. I’m sure we will get something soon. How are you finding your injections, are you taking 50, then reduce to 20 when you start gonal f? My clinic don’t generally do baseline scans whilst in the Covid times which I’m finding difficult to comprehend. I did the first time. I’m not sure how they can tell if buserelin has worked but I’m sure they know what they are doing!

Hazza2021 · 23/02/2021 10:07

@hopefulhel wow that’s a lovely amount of follicles. I really hope all goes well at egg collection!

PurpleUnicorn01 · 23/02/2021 11:23

Hi Guys, Good Luck all of you. I am no where near starting yet i don't think. My first appointment is in 2 weeks at an nhs hospital, i really hope it goes well for you all. Reading your stories is really helpful. It makes what lays ahead of me less daunting. Thank you all

Noirberry19 · 23/02/2021 13:40

@hopefulhel wishing you luck for tomorrow 🤞🏼❤️ good amount of follicles!
With you having to have FET due to high estrogen levels, is this common, do you know?

@ForeverHopeful17 I'm exactly the same. Sounds so silly because I know on the outside it may seem it's no time at all, but I think after all the waiting already, feels like forever 🥴

Hope everyone is feeling ok

@PurpleUnicorn01 you'll be surprised how quick everything falls into place. We had our telephone chat on 12th Jan to say yes we want to proceed through IVF and now on 11th March (fingers crossed) we start short protocol and injections from day two of period.

I woke up again last night worried id not took my tablets, I'm going to be a nightmare when we start.

Xx

PurpleUnicorn01 · 23/02/2021 15:45

@6543336787gesgvjhg, woaw that is quick, mine is the intial consultant with the nhs, so im not sure what the waiting times are with covid etc.

Oh gosh that sounds stressful. A lot of people recommend acupuncture for fertility. Maybe that might help you relax.

NHS only do long protocol.

I hope it goes well for you. Not long to go.

beachbum85 · 23/02/2021 16:06

Hi @PurpleUnicorn01! I'm on the NHS... We had an initial consultation in Sept (after GP referral to gynae), followed by some tests, then consultation mid-Dec to say we want to proceed with IVF, and I started on the long protocol yesterday. I know it must feel like a long time now, but actually it passed by a lot quicker than I had expected. Fingers crossed for you!
Also, I was told the standard is long protocol, but they won't do that if you're at risk of OHSS or in some other cases, so it could be short, at least where I am.

Hello @hopefulhel and congrats on your your number of follicles :)
Best of luck for tomorrow!!

@6543336787gesgvjhg I had similar worries and stressful moments, but I honestly feel soooo much better and calmer now that I've started. I hope you'll feel that way soon too! Acupuncture does help, I find...

Glad you're well and have no symptoms either @Donimo and @Hazza2021! I did think the baseline scan is ages away, but I guess we need to give the Buserelin its time to work. I've been warned about bad mood swings, but hopefully things will stay as they are.

I hope everyone is well and coping fine with the waiting :)

PurpleUnicorn01 · 23/02/2021 16:19

@beachbum85
That is really helpful, thank you. Did you have any tests beforehand? Ive had a progesterone one I think and he has had his. I did an AMH test too privately. We know its a male factor issue.

So it was around 5 months until you started treatment. Well i really hope it goes well. Keep us updated. Its nice to have a rough timescale as I was considering private treatment but 5 months isn't too bad in the grand scheme of things.

@Hazza2021 and @Donimo I hope your doing okay too.

beachbum85 · 23/02/2021 16:25

Thank you, @PurpleUnicorn01!
Yes, I had blood tests (day 21) and an ultrasound on the NHS before, as well as my partner's SA, my AMH and a hycosy privately, all before the September consultation. Then we both had more bloods (including day 3), another ultrasound for me, and another SA for him before the December consultation. We're unexplained, although I have a low AMH, and those tests didn't really tell us much.
I was also ready to go private if we hadn't heard back by Easter time, but we are so lucky to get these rounds on the NHS, I definitely think it was worth the wait for us (depending on everyone's age, situation, etc. of course).
