Here!

Mrbay · 23/07/2020 18:34

Hey!

How is everyone?

@Welshpugmomma - are you all settled now?

I've had new born cuddles today - she is adorable!

Welshpugmomma · 23/07/2020 22:55

I'm on British soil... loving it! The last week has been so beautiful and I'm so grateful to be back home, nanny & grampy loving cuddles and my little sister enjoying playtime!

Glad you managed to see your friends little one :) they aren't so small for long!

Sleep is a bit of a nightmare for us right now the time zone has thrown Josiah right off so we are up a good 3/4 times a night right now. I'm trying my hardest to stick to routine, I just really enjoy the evenings being grown up time so i like him to get bed earlier... I'm hopeful it's getting slightly better.

Hope you are all well :)

Zest11 · 26/07/2020 22:15

@Mrbay Much respect to you for going to see your friend. I am glad you enjoyed the cuddles!

@Welshpugmomma How are you settling back in to UK life? Lovely that the grandparents have been able to meet Josiah and have nice cuddles. How old was Josiah before you got into a routine? I like grown up time too but there's little of that for us at the moment.

We are doing okay. We had grandparents visit last week and they really helped us understand what his cues are so we are managing a bit better and know that we can (eventually!) settle him. He is a hungry hungry boy though and have found that in the evenings he just needs to feed. My husband's new nickname for him is Milk Breath!

KittyKatSmile · 29/07/2020 18:58

@Mrbay huge respect for getting out and seeing the baby. Cuddles are good for the soul.

@Welshpugmomma welcome home!! What have you done since getting back? Has it been amazing??

We are fully into sleep regression here! Nancy is currently not sleeping more than 2 hours at a time, more often 90mins! Argh. I'm wrecked! I had just got used to having my sleep back again!!

OP posts:
Welshpugmomma · 29/07/2020 21:25

Thanks ladies for the welcome :) been such busy times but Josiah has very much enjoyed the cuddles, in amazed how easily he gone to others considering its just been me and dh since the beginning! Just been to Cotswold for a couple of nights to spend time with grandad which was lovely(apart from The weather) .

@zest11 started with routine pretty early i think it was about 6/7 weeks just with a normal bedtime routine you know bath, massage (we started that early because of gas) story, feed and bed. Just keeping thing darling and calm. It worked lovely for us but I know would be torture for some people!

@KittyKatSmile man I know the regression is so bloody cruel! I literally got 2 hours sleep on Sunday. He's just started rolling in his crib (only one way) so screams when he gets stuck on his front. So stressful! We've stopped using the swaddle sack now and need a a new sleep bag, any suggestions? I think the rooms about 22c but obviously will get cooler before long.

Hope you are all doing well :)

Mrbay · 29/07/2020 21:45

Evening girls!

It was like pulling a band aid, just need to get it done as soon as poss as it doesn't hurt at all!
My mum has gone into fall baby buying mode at the car boots so I have a large bag of stuff - dont worry I checked first that it would be wanted - nothing worse than getting gifts you cannot use.

@Welshpugmomma - you're lucky to have family in that part of the world, it is beautiful!

Had my review with the consultant today, I'm booked in for a myomectomy - I didn't ask for details but of course I've googled it now - sounds like a smaller c section - 4-6 weeks recovery.
Due to the surgery, we'll be having another 6 months or so before we do our finally nhs cycle

Cauliflower82 · 30/07/2020 09:12

@Mrbay I’ve just had a good read up on myomectomy. I hope it goes well for you and recovery is quick. Do you need to wait long for the procedure/surgery? How was the consultant?

@Welshpugmomma it sounds like you’re really enjoying being back home ☺️

@KittyKatSmile sleep regression is hard!! So hard!! I feel like we were in one for pretty much the whole time 😂 now little Pip is sleeping through without a feed but still needs reassurance every couple of hours - he likes to have his hand held 😂 I don’t know how I get myself into these situations but holding his hand during naps and bed time really helps him settle. I think I’m creating a ‘mummy’s boy’ 🙊

@Zest11 that’s so Lovely they came over to help ☺️ Are they able to give you more support over the next coming weeks too?

There’s not too much to report here. My husband is back to work permanently on Monday 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 so it’s just me baby and dog now. My family are still very much terrified of the virus and passing it on to him so there’ll be no help either and husband works long days. I’ve got a few walk dates planned with friends too.

Mrbay · 30/07/2020 10:43

@Cauliflower82 - hopefully not overly long - 8-12 -weeks the consultant thinks, it'll be my IVF doc doing the surgery and due to our local hospital not being able to do the surgery, I'll be in the private hospital - naively I didn't ask a lot of questions as I thought it would be the same as my previous laps!

At leas you have the dog! I'm sorry the family is still on high alert. Do you have a local baby facebook group where you could meet (socially distance) other new mums?

KittyKatSmile · 30/07/2020 13:30

@Mrbay you sound very positive about it all. You're a very strong woman; I'm so full of admiration for you.

@Cauliflower82 that sounds tough not having people around to help. I think I'd really struggle with that. I'm not having a brilliant week but your words have given me some ideas as I feed Nancy in the night but maybe she just needs some cuddles. Last night I decided to ignore her when she woke 2 hours after I'd last fed her and it worked; she cried a bit and went back to sleep but I only like to do that when my mum's not here so I don't disturb her.

Sending love and sunshine ladies xx

@Welshpugmomma How lovely that Josiah has enjoyed being fussed and cuddled with by others :) I like the sound of your routine. I am keen to get ours into one soon too. I like the thought of a nice bath and story. I have tried to read to him already but he doesn't have a clue haha!

@mrbay I had a little Google of your procedure. I hope you can use the waiting around time to just take some time out for yourself. You are doing brilliantly!

@Cauliflower82 Oh gosh...that sounds scary! But you're right to plan things to do with friends to try and break up the days. My husband is going in for 1 day tomorrow. I'm scared but have a friend coming round later in the day. Our family live far away so it will be a while before they see their grandson again. I'm glad they got to see him when he was so new though - it was looking hit and miss with the lockdown rules.

No updates here really. We have good days and bad days. Sometimes I think we're cracking it then the next day is a set back. Husband is going into work tomorrow so I am a bit scared it being the first time I will be left alone but I have to suck it up! If it's a struggle I will be wearing the sling all day!

Cauliflower82 · 31/07/2020 06:26

@Zest11 you’ve got this, you’ve totally got this! I hope your day goes well. The first day alone is a terrifying prospect but you’ll be so happy when you’ve done it and all is well.

@KittyKatSmile I hope you had a better night last night 🤞 it’s so exhausting when they’re waking all the time.

@Mrbay I’m not on Facebook but my husband keeps telling me to join so I can find that kind of group. I really don’t want to start with it all again though, it’s been about 8 years 😮. I’m on peanut 😂

Hope you all enjoy the marvellous weather today! It looks like a total scorcher 🥵 ☀️

Zest11 · 01/08/2020 04:50

@Cauliflower82 Thank you! It was actually fine and I felt proud of myself for managing. A friend came round which was nice and the rest of the day consisted of him napping and drinking. Think he found it very hot!

@KittyKatSmile I'm pleased things are looking better for you. I know you have your mum around to help but I honestly think what you're doing is amazing! Baby Nancy is so lucky to have you and your dedication - you have been so strong willed throughout this whole thing. Smile

Ginandtonic31 · 04/08/2020 00:20

Well I definitely didn't get any updates from this thread so trying to catch up now!

@Mrbay like @KittyKatSmile said, you're amazing. And for sticking around here too. I'm glad you have and I feel like I'm invested in your treatment. I hope this next step brings you closer. 🤞

Ginandtonic31 · 04/08/2020 00:26

Ooops I pressed send too soon!

@Zest11 well done on your first day! As I say in every post, every week gets so much better and easier and it just becomes a new way of life!

@Welshpugmomma so glad you're loving being home! When will your OH join you? I bet he's missing Josiah!!

Not much to say here. Just plodding on! Been doing more normal things recently. I went shopping to an outlet last week and treated myself and Georgie, I did a KIT day at work a few weeks ago which I loved! And we went to the pub for lunch on Friday and sat outside by the canal with a gin which was lovely! We also had our first sleepover at my parents on Saturday so I could sit outside and have a few gins with them. Georgie took it all very well bless her. Annnnd in big news... I'm getting my hair done this week! 5 months to the day since I last did. I thought I ought to squeeze it in before lockdown round 2 hits us! Still got terrible eyebrows though for now.

Mrbay · 04/08/2020 11:52

hey!

Thanks for the well wishes - the reality of the procedure has kicked in - my mum is going to have to come to me daily to feed me, not that she minds she loves doing that kind of thing!
Booking department feel it is going to be September that I go in, I expect I'll have it done on my birthday like last year's op or was it 2018 - I cannot recall!

I am glad that are happy for me to chip in with my IVF tells of grumps.

After saying last cycle was my last, I'm pretty positive about the 3rd one! Plus DH is happy as I've agreed to do a 4th privately if needed.

@Cauliflower82 - I don't blame you for getting rid of FaceBook, I've started to delete people as I figured if I wouldn't wish them a happy birthday why do I have them as friends??!

@Zest11 - an eyebrow thread was the next things I was looking forward too and now that has been taken from me, knowing my luck I'll be in pre op isolation when Boris finally allows facial treatments!

Non IVF/lady bits news - I have next week off and weather permitting, I'm planning to head down to Sand Banks to take Millie swimming in the sea with me! Muz, our other dog, will just sit on the beach with the old people (my parents) and watch us. Then we'll have fish and chips by the sea - something very simple but I am really looking forward to it!

Ginandtonic31 · 04/08/2020 13:18

Ooo @Mrbay I'm trying to convince OH we should go to Sandbanks. I've found a premier Inn in Poole we could stay at but he's just shrugging at me 🙄

KittyKatSmile · 04/08/2020 16:52

@Ginandtonic31 @Mrbay oooh Sandbanks reunion/union?! That's pretty close to me; me and Nancy could row over in our dinghy 😁

@Mrbay fish and chips on the beach sounds amazing. That's my mum's go to when I'm knackered or feeling down: 'I'm bringing chips to yours'!

OP posts:
Mrbay · 04/08/2020 18:04

@KittyKatSmile - sounds like a plan!! Even if it's just to see you row across in a dinghy!

Fish and chips are the best feel good food!

@Ginandtonic31 - it's a lush part of the UK plus the new forest is lush!

My go to beach as a child was camford cliffs (I think that's how its spelt) its tiny! Really clean water and sand plus I can't remember it ever getting overly busy.

Ginandtonic31 · 04/08/2020 19:06

@Mrbay and @KittyKatSmile I shall work on him! It's just so far for us! I'm fine with a Premier inn for a few nights. Cheap and cheerful. Unless either of you have recommendations that are close not out of the way.

Would love to see the dinghy 😂 Nancy will need a life jacket!
