Yes a line is a line @Mrbay stop with the doubting ;) and now to add you have a professional opinion too! Lol eat breathe and sleep that mantra ! I remember waiting for that 1st ND 2nd scan being the hardest always worrying so I know easier than said!

I doubt if any of you are along the same lines as us I don't know if anyone would be mad enough but after our 1st miracle the thought is cropping up what if we were twice lucky 🤷‍♀️ I originally thought we would head down the adoption road but dh has said a couple times would I ever do another cycle. ( we had no frozen) I have always said no because I found it pretty hard the injections mainly :( in fact the other aspects went quite smoothly for us but I was gutted in the end to only have 1 fertilized it's just a complete Rollercoaster and not sure if I could muster up the positivity to go again and not think I've used all my luck up? Plus we would have to find the cash for another round. I don't want to seem insensitive to all you ladies as I know how different and hard all our journeys have been. But just blurting and opinions thoughts would be welcome.

In other news J loved his birthday it was like he knew the day was for him 🤣🤣
Hope you've all had lovely birthdays I think gin and cauli was this week too? Xx

Mrbay · 12/03/2021 09:32

@Welshpugmomma - thank you!! I'll trying to condense the worry into 5 mins a day and then move on!!

Ref adoption - it's not something I have considered, however BIL and SIL are currently waiting to be matched with a child - it will be nearly a year since they started the process. They have been matched with 3 children so far but not chosen. Which feels even worse than when IVF fails as someone has said no you are not the right person for this child.
We had a family presentation with the adoption agency and had we had any view to adopt, that presentation put me completely off the idea.

On the flip side, hopefully this transfer goes to live birth for me and DH, but we do have 4 frozen embryos that we currently have no desire to use as we don't want to start this rollercoaster for another child and end up spending lots to not have a child at the end of it.

So tricky to know what to do - sorry I feel that I have been a bit negative on your question.

PS Happy birthday to our 1 year olds!! I cannot believe how quickly the time has flown by!!!

Welshpugmomma · 12/03/2021 10:12

@Mrbay 5 minutes is plenty enough you'll be grand!

What you say about your BIL and SIL have been through sounds heartbreaking indeed. Yes I've been told it's a long process and so much admin and panels etc. That is the biggest thing we worry that they wouldn't be keen with hubs working away, but I guess we wouldn't know until we tried. I've spoken to my husband about it various occasions but I think I truly wouldn't know how he felt until/if we got the ball rolling.

Not negative at all that's what I wanted really just to hear someone else's view on it. :)

KittyKatSmile · 12/03/2021 13:27

@Welshpugmomma not insensitive at all and we are definitely all here as sounding boards.

I have gone backwards and forwards on the idea of having another. I'm definitely going to make sure I actually make a decision rather than having it made for me because I end up being too old and haven't considered it properly but at the moment I can't physically get to the clinic so it's out of my hands...

Listen to the Finally Pregnant podcast. They have done an episode recently about stopping after one and they cover the having more rounds vs using your frozen ones quite well. I'd never given it much thought before really.

@Mrbay a year seems like break neck speed for adoption. Friends of mine are doing it and I think they've been in the process since before i started trying, so maybe 3 years. Heart breaking really when they want to give a little person love and a home

@Mrbay Well it has been confirmed then hasn't it :) Wink

@welshpugmomma I am pleased J had a lovely first birthday! Cake
I am glad you have brought up that question as I contemplate another too but it is hard to decide what to do. I'm interested to know how others feel too. I think it is just far far too soon for us. When I think about it, the enormity of what we have been through floods back and I know I am not ready. We do have some frozen but like you said, I feel that I have used up our luck so we will need more time to think about it all. And re. Adoption that does not sound like a straightforward process either and we are unlikely to consider it now we have our boy.

Mrbay · 12/03/2021 17:45

@welshpugmomma - from the outside it sounds absolutely fascinating but so much emotionally effort required to see it through.
I'm not sure if one parent being away would be an issue, the only way to find out would be approach an agency. Apparently the one BIL and SIL is the best in the UK in terms of match up and support, if you do want to explore it further I can ask for their details?

@KittyKatSmile - I suppose that they have to be 200% sure that the placement will work and I imagine timescale really does depend on demand- that really feels like the worst word to use but I cannot think about anything else to use.

Scan has been booked for 1st April and the clinic has only today, opened back up to partners attending - DH won't have to be on a video call in the carpark!

KittyKatSmile · 12/03/2021 18:11

@Mrbay oh yay!! I'm so glad DH will be there with you. That has been one of the hardest things about this blasted pandemic I think.

OP posts:
Welshpugmomma · 20/03/2021 21:45

@Mrbay that will be so lovely that you and DH will share that moment, it's a nervous time so it's always nice to have a hand to hold.

Urmm so ladies I have some BIG news after my last little post about considering another round or the adoption route. Looks like the man above had other plans. I got a BFP a few days back !!! Talk about shell shocked! Hubs been away since mid Feb Wink must've been our last lockdown date night. Just so so surprised as at our initial consultation couple years back they told us we had less than a 10% chance conception rate as he only had one testicle working with low mobility/count to boot and then to factor in my cycle blah blah blah. Wow just wow. Looks like we're in it together this time @mrbay xx

KittyKatSmile · 20/03/2021 22:59

@Welshpugmomma oh my goodness!! This is so bloody amazing. I love love love it! What did your husband say? Brilliant news!

OP posts:
Welshpugmomma · 21/03/2021 06:38

Thank you so much! Husband was more shocked than me I think ! He was like it took while for it to sink in thinking he could never do it naturally, he told me that he had really wanted to do another cycle but knew I was scared so didn't want to pressure me. Also it must've been the sexy fancy dress outfit and candles before he went away ;) haha. Excited going to tell our parents today!

Zest11 · 21/03/2021 07:01

@Welshpugmomma OMFG simply incredible! Such amazing news!! Wowowow! So so happy for you. Keep us updated with everything...symptoms, scans, DD, you name it! Huge congratulations!! Xx

Mrbay · 21/03/2021 08:15

@Welshpugmomma - amazing! I bet that was a bit if a shock/very nice surprise! The same happened to my neighbours, had ivf for child 1 and the child 2 was a massive surprise!
How far along are you??

Welshpugmomma · 21/03/2021 08:27

Yes massive shock lovely surprise it's taken me this week for it to sink in! So out of the blue! It's so hard not to get carried away but just so happy :) 8 weeks today :) explains why I'd been feeling so sicky! Have you been having any symptoms @Mrbay? X

Mrbay · 21/03/2021 09:23

I'm so so pleased for you both!

Not alot of symptoms, just so tired (spent most of yesterday asleep!) Oh and feeling nauseous in the morning. Oh and very sore boobs, but they come and go so not 100% sure how to feel.

Welshpugmomma · 21/03/2021 09:32

All sounds good :) the tiredness is insane I had a lie down in the play pen couple days ago when J was playing only he decided to get my attention by sticking his finger up my nose clawing me and then I had a nice nosebleed haha the joys!

Ginandtonic31 · 21/03/2021 10:37

Morning,

I've only just realised there's more posts!! Been so busy with my Etsy stuff it's certainly keeping me busy when G has gone to bed! I currently have 43 open order s.

Wow @Welshpugmomma! That's amazing. Congratulations! Back to your original post I don't really know what to do. We have 9 frozen. I feel like I want to give birth and have a baby again, but not two children if that makes sense? Also I think I've been put into a false sense of security as G is generally fairly easy and I bet I would get one that's a nightmare second time.

Mrbay · 01/04/2021 21:26

Hey all!

Had my scan today, measuring 7 + 2 and we saw the heartbeat! Feel like a weight has been lifted now!

@welshpugmomma you must be close to 12 weeks now?

Welshpugmomma · 01/04/2021 21:33

Hey Mr Bay that's fabulous :) such a relief right! I had an early scan couple weeks ago and all was good :) I'm 10weeks now had my booking phone call yesterday, so just waiting for that scan date now! Hope your feeling :) I still feel sick for the majority of the days and generally knackered with little crazy man keeping me so busy! Also I'm showing already. My husband said I thought you were going to wait until I come home before telling everyone ( I would be 17/18) weeks no chance there would deffo not be any surprise by then!

Zest11 · 02/04/2021 14:28

@mrbay that is just the most perfect news! So so pleased for you! Was hubby allowed to go with you? Did you treat yourselves to a drive through McDonald's (or similar Smile) Enjoy this Easter weekend. Who will you be telling? So so exciting!

@Welshpugmomma Ahh I'm so glad the scan went well, that is brilliant! I'm so sorry you feel sick though, it's so grim. How has it been telling people? Xx

KittyKatSmile · 03/04/2021 07:44

@Mrbay I'm so pleased for you. I've been watching the calendar waiting for your scan date! How are you feeling? Have you told anyone?

@Welshpugmomma I have heard that's the way with the second! A friend of mine with a second 2 months older than Nancy has just told me she's expecting a third (!!) which I'd already guessed from FaceTime. She's 4 months I think and as big as she was at 7 months with the first!! So exciting but exhausting for you as well xx

OP posts:
Welshpugmomma · 04/04/2021 19:33

@Zest11 I've had to stop telling anyone now so our parents and best friends know, and then will probably try and tell all the extended family around 12 weeks :) I love telling people though it's like the best news to give and I think people are loving a bit of good news in 2021.

@KittyKatSmile aw man I reckon by the time i'm 20 weeks I'll look full term haha I didn't buy a huge amount of maternity stuff 1st time just tried to keep it minimal but now I'm so angry I took it all charity in America before moving back that's how sure I was there would be no more haha , so I'm going to order some stuff now I know it's early but literally none of my jeans fit and tights are so uncomfortable already 😅

AliciaWhiskers · 05/04/2021 18:57

Oh my goodness @Mrbay and @Welshpugmomma congratulations to you both! How very exciting and brilliant news for you both!

No news from here. It took a while to get over the miscarriage - I still don't think my hormones are right almost 4 months later! Anyway, we aren't trying again so that's it for us. If we happened to get a miracle that would be great, but I'm also about to turn 42 so our chances are pretty much 0 and I'm ok with that.

We recently bought a camper van so looking forward to a summer of camping and hopefully having some freedom to move around (in the UK) once restrictions lift a bit more instead!!

I still think of you all loads and it was so lovely to find the thread with such good news :)

Mrbay · 06/04/2021 08:21

I don't know what is up with Mumsnet but it doesn't like to keep this in my threads I am on or watching!! Annoying!

@Welshpugmomma - I bet you saw a lot more than I did! How exciting! I've got my booking in call next week and I've already got a few questions. I'm not showing as such but I am so bloated and I've made an order for mat jeans as my current ones are a squeeze!
Ref telling people - it really is pretty amazing, all 3 parents were very shocked and in disbelief initially!

@KittyKatSmile @Zest11 - thank you! We told all the parents this weekend, gave them a cookie that said 'Future Babysitter' 2 out of 3 sets thought it was our dog who was pregnant! FFS! (I mean I hope she is, and interestingly she has fertility issues too so she is perfect for us!)
I've told a few at the yard as another lady is pregnant too and I thought it was best in case anything happens.
Ref hubby and scan, yes he was allowed in and cried! I just sat there, knees in air and dildo cam in situ not really knowing what to do or say so did nothing!
I hate to temp fate but just fat and tired! Thankfully morning sickness has been minimal.

@AliciaWhiskers - thank you.
I'm sorry but I am glad that you have made peace and are able to move forward. A camper van sounds amazing - where will you go first?

Zest11 · 29/05/2021 22:30

Hiiii! How is everyone?? What's new? Is life back to normalish for everyone? Any holidays booked with the little ones?

@Mrbay how are you and how have you been feeling? Hopefully the sickness will be passing now and the same for you @welshpugmomma

@AliciaWhiskers so nice to hear from you and glad you are doing well. Where are you off to in the campervan?

Mrbay · 03/06/2021 07:59

Hey all!!

@Zest11 - the time has flown by! I'm 16 weeks now! Heard baby's heartbeat for the first time yesterday, still doesn't feel real!
How are you?

How is everyone else??

There has been a birth in our family, our pup had a litter of lab puppies on tuesday!
