@Ginandtonic31 we'll both need life jackets! I can't swim (I know! I know!)

@Ginandtonic31 You have done some lovely things and that is very exciting about your hair. I feel the same as you about a 2nd lockdown and that I need to get mine done soon too. I'm glad you enjoyed your KIT day and you have also got to the shops and pub. You are so right in that it gets easier. Obviously there are some tough times but we at least feel more confident with him now and generally have an idea of what works. I do need to think about doing a proper bedtime routine now I think.
@Mrbay your plans for next week sound lovely. Swimming in the sea with your dog will be lovely! I love your brutality on Facebook too!

I like the talk on Sandbanks! You're talking my neck of the woods too (kind of...I'm not rich enough!) And I have cycled along the prom a few times and spotted how quiet Canford cliffs beach is - definitely one to go to if you want to avoid the crowds!

Mrbay · 04/08/2020 21:42

@ginandtonic31 - sorry it's only 1.5hrs from me so I've never looked for hotels - at least with premier inn you know what you are getting!
Monkey world is around 30 mins from there which is a lovely family day out.

@kittykatsmiles - oh Keith! As soon as Nancy is old enough you'll have to learn with her!

@Zest11 - lucky you!! Not sure I'd want to live on millionaire's row, I'd rather have my own land but it must be lush to open your back gate and be on the beach.
Ah Canford! I never did look at the sign, just remember the little carpark, running down the path and then those massive steps down to the beach! Oh and walking down to the shop to get an ice cream! So many happy memories on that beach!

Ref facebook - you have to be sometimes, as I get older I care less for all the crap some people post - to be fair people probably think the same about me as all I post is photos of the animals and the occasional one of me and DH.

You are all making jealous of your mat leave, well maybe not the sleepless nights!

Ginandtonic31 · 04/08/2020 23:25

@Zest11 I really wouldn't stress about a bedtime routine. I couldn't be arsed with it all and she's just sort of set her own and it works for us!

Cauliflower82 · 05/08/2020 09:42

I’m not getting updates again - I keep forgetting subscribe to our new threads 🙊.

I’m loving the idea of a meet up. We’re up in the north and always keen for an adventure.

The first week just me, baby and our dog is going pretty well ☺️. Sleep has been a little hit and miss but doable.

We live in a fairly rural part of the north and I’m wondering if now is the right time to take little Pip to our closest city for the afternoon. Poor baby has never been in a shop or anything. I just spend my days taking him for walks locally and for picnics with friends (always social distancing as I’m still a bit nervous). What’s everyone else’s baby been up to?

Little Pip has been up since four. I popped him on the sofa next to me for a few minutes at about six and he’s still asleep there so I’m stranded 😂

KittyKatSmile · 05/08/2020 12:46

@Cauliflower82 sounds like Miss Nancy from Hicksville Alabama might be the most cosmopolitan baby!! She has been swimming, to some horrendous music class (once) and to A LOT of garden centres and their cafes. Actually not a lot, to two. Many times.

I'm going to have to take a break from typing because she's just filled her nappy and I need my hands free to cover my nose....

@Ginandtonic31 Sandbanks is lovely but at the other end of the stretch is Christchurch which is nice. There's a cheap Travelodge there too. There is a nice quay and there's also a lovely beach at Mudeford. If you really wanted to go to Sandbanks too it's only about a 20min drive and the New Forest is less than 15min in the other direction.

@mrbay We do see that we are v lucky to live near the sea. It has been particularly helpful in recent weeks that we can go for emergency walks with the little one on more difficult days! Not quite opening our back gate onto the sea although that would be amazing!!

@Cauliflower82 I am pleased you seem to be managing well now your husband has gone back to work. I think going for walks and meet ups with friends is just perfect! In our little one's 5 weeks he has been to quite a few different coffee shops! I think this theme will continue with the 50% off in August!

@Kittykatsmile love a good poo explosion! Hope you enjoyed the clean up Grin

Welshpugmomma · 10/08/2020 07:55

Hey ladies :) hope you've all been enjoying the sunshine especially you've managed to get away !
My and hubs had our first night away together minus baba on Friday we stayed at a vineyard pretty close by it was soo relaxing. I couldn't remember what it felt like to have a quiet mind nit be buzzing around 24/7 I'm lucky to have no worries leaving him with mum but she's had 3 of us and works in maternity so who better to leave him with! I even managed to paint my nails and attack the brows ;)

@mrbay glad it's coming around soon for you and that you have your mum to take care of you (they love it) ! Whens your birthday (22nd here) I always love sept especially if we have a late summer...

@Ginandtonic31 hubs made the move with me in the end couldn't remember if I updated you guys, but his jobs allowed him to relocate and he won't be away until ship launch which is getting later and later possibly not til next year now!

None baby stuff... trying to get a mortgage, still staying at the parents home (pretty small for us all) going for some positive news today on that front.

Looks like another hot day girls- enjoy!

Mrbay · 11/08/2020 20:55

Hey @Welshpugmomma - glad you've got hubby back with you both.
I'm the 28th and yep, I love a sep birthday especially when waiting for mile stones as I'd be one of the first in my year group.

Yay on the mortgage front, great time to buy!

No real news on my front, had my pre op assessment today, which did finally settle a disagreement me and DH had about my height, I am 5'8" not 5'7", like he thought!

It's too hot and I am bored of this heatwave!

Zest11 · 20/08/2020 04:42

@Welshpugmomma Sounds lovely that you have had a bit of 'you' time. Definitely needed and it must be so lovely for your mum to be able to spend time with Josiah. Exciting about the mortgage too! Where (roughly) are you thinking of buying or would you rather not say?

@Mrbay How was your trip down to Sandbanks? Did you have a nice time in the sea with your dog?

How is everyone else doing?

I have to say, I am really trying to make the most of my maternity leave and have enjoyed these past few weeks. Hubby has been off work, we have had family down and I have also been meeting friends. Fingers crossed some of the baby groups will start up in September too.

Other news...baby is sleeping longer now. Last night he did 10.30pm until 5. It's now 4.30 and he went down at 9.30pm. I'm waiting for him to wake up and have been lying awake for the last 1.5hours listening to his breathing, worried he is sleeping too long!

Welshpugmomma · 20/08/2020 07:22

@Zest11 sounds very similar to us right now(since sleep regression)i normally wake around the 4 just to settle him quickly- few days ago he actually got 11h15 :O I couldn't believe it!

Looking to buy in South wales this is where I'm from and all my family are around here, hubs actually from Poole so we did live in bournemouth for a few years which was lovely :)

I've just registered interest for a mums and baby group in Sept cant wait to meet other mums and get josiah socializing again. Also finally just got round to booking a photographer so he'll be 6 months and hopefully be sitting prouder in a couple weeks! Super exciting.

Also started doing bootcamp 3 days a week, weights not coming off but feeling much fitter, happier and toned too :)

@mrbay didn't you know husbands are always right haha you'll have to stoop to 5,7 now lol I used to dream to be 5ft8 I don't know why exactly but I was obsessed when I thought I was still growing, had to settle at 5ft2 😅

Cauliflower82 · 20/08/2020 09:43

@Zest11 yay for baby sleeping longer 💤 I’m so happy you’re enjoying your maternity leave 💕

@Welshpugmomma it sounds like you’re doing really well too 💕 boot camp 😬 intense! How is it? I’m thinking I need to get back into some form of fitness. I used to cycle a lot but that’s really hard at the minute.

Things are going pretty well here too ☺️. I feel like me and Pip have turned a corner this week. We went into our first shop and we’ve been to a garden centre 💐. I’m getting used to having him in the car and we’ve been just having a lovely little time, the two of us 🤗.

It can be tough at times - we’ve still got no help from anyone and family don’t visit very often, maybe once every two weeks for half an hour or so. My husband works pretty long days too - he’s out the house at the moment from about six until five. It can be really hard if we’ve had little sleep but I think we’re getting there. Pip, other than the sleep, is a pretty easygoing baby - he’s always giggling, yabbering on and smiling about something.

I’ve signed us up to a local baby group in September and I’m hoping this will give me the opportunity to make a few friends with babies in the local area. None of my friends have babies that are close by.

Has anyone started on the weaning journey?

Pip’s half birthday is the day after my birthday and we keep joking his first finger food will be cake 🍰

Hope you’re all well ☺️💕

Cauliflower82 · 20/08/2020 09:44

@Welshpugmomma @Mrbay I was the same! Always thought 5ft 8 was the perfect size. Little shortie here too though 😳

Mrbay · 20/08/2020 10:15

Morning girls!!

I always wanted to be 5'2" - trust me growing up being one of the tallest in the year group and friendship group - gave me a few teenage issues, I tried to blend in with the others but pretty hard when they only come up to your shoulders! Trying to find a tall man was an issue too, I clearly live in a town of average heighters!

Sandbanks was amazing!! I swam with pup, she loved it! We bumped into Harry and Sharon Redknapp - they are lovely. Then we had a chip supper in the little bay play park in Poole - going to do it all again tomorrow. Oh and I managed to squeeze into my nearly 18-20 year old swim suit - thank god for Lycra!

@Welshpugmomma - aww a photoshoot sounds cute, my friend had one with her baby when she was a few weeks old - the photos were so cute!

@Zest11 - enjoy your sleep!

I do hope the baby groups open up for you soon, I was thinking it must be a tad lonely as woman haven't made friends with new mums.

@Cauliflower82 - I really want to give you a massive hug and take you for coffee and cake.

No real news at my end, I am feeling more like pre IVF me, I've dropped nearly a stone and I am back riding - my body is starting to look more like the old me! I know this is vain but I had fillers this week and I just look less aged and tired.

Zest11 · 20/08/2020 22:17

@Welshpugmomma Oh south Wales is nice. So many of my friends went to Cardiff University and a couple have stayed in the area. It's lovely and also there's lots of nice countryside near too isn't there? :) Great places for taking the dog walking. I hope your house searching goes well. It's a great time to be buying with the stamp duty freeze! And Wow, 3 X a week boot camp, impressive!!

@Cauliflower82 I'm so pleased to hear how well you are getting on with little Pip. The days do seem long without your husband now though. But you just enjoy those precious moments, just you and little Pip, it sounds like you are doing amazingly! I do love when our boy is in his sling and we are just cuddled up together. It's just lovely. And well done on the confidence in the car. That's actually something I hate...being in the car just the two of us as I can't see him and just worry the whole journey, even if it's just 5minutes. Sad

@Mrbay Well done on the weight loss and feeling more like you again. I am so pleased for you, I think it makes such a difference. And yes to the fillers, I think anything to make you feel good about yourself is worth doing! I'm getting my hair done in a few weeks...can't wait! I am glad you have been enjoying your visit down to Sandbanks...it sounds like you have had a great time and the weather has been lovely for it too!

What baby groups are people signing up to? I am just on waitlists at the moment for a baby massage, baby sensory and also a postnatal fitness class where we get to take our babies too! My husband and I did NCT as well so we have been meeting up around once a week.

Mrbay · 07/09/2020 16:43

Hey All!

Sorry this keeps popping out of my watch list and ones I am on - very annoying!

I've got a date for surgery, 24th of this month, I cannot believe that I've been fitted in so quickly. IF everything goes as planned, I'll have my next cycle in Jan/Feb next year.

How is everything going for everyone else?

Welshpugmomma · 07/09/2020 17:22

Hey Mr Bay, great news on the Date and I bet it's just a relief to be able to plan* the next few months :) how have the fillers settled? Well done on the weight loss and riding!

@cauliflower82 we've started weaning, I am loving it. We cook everything and he absolutely wolfs it down, I made curried lentil, carrot and squash soup the other day which was the absolutely best!

@Zest11 that's awesome sounds like your diary is deffo getting filled with baby activites! I've just managed to sign up to a 6 week assorted class I think they cover sign language, sensory play, singing and who knows what else. I'm just glad he'll finally be able to socialise. Potentially able to start a swim class - waiting to hear back about that one! Corona figure in our area is growing massively so let's see how that plays out :/

Any other news ladies how's things @KittyKatSmile @Ginandtonic31

KittyKatSmile · 07/09/2020 18:52

@Mrbay that's great news and so good to have things to focus on and be able to plan. So happy for you.

@Welshpugmomma glad weaning is going well. That sounds an amazing dish! I've spent 2 weeks giving Nancy one veg a day (in line with the gospel according to Sir Joe) and am just moving on to mixed dishes now. So far she's had potato, broccoli, cheese and paprika, which was basically just some of the old crap from last week she hadn't had on its own...! I also appear to have got nights sorted a bit better now after months of hell! Am thinking it's maybe time to go away now. By which I mean a hotel down the road.

Oh. I'm also funemployed; had I told you I was doing that?? I've left my shitty job and am taking some more time with Nancy while I look for stuff over here. I'm honestly so happy.

Enough waffle from me; you can tell I don't see many grown ups can't you?!

OP posts:
Welshpugmomma · 07/09/2020 19:17

@KittyKatSmile I have in and bought the book I stuck to single veg for about 5 days and just the greens but it looked so boring, or either me and husband were getting bored lol he was also goinh for it so going we don't have any problems with a sweet tooth, saying that he succumbed to some ice cream the other day soon naughty but his little face was priceless. Sounds like you are well d deserving of that little night of luxury even if it's a stones throw (you won't notice ;)! Just try to relax!

My parents just tried to take J out to my aunties and he screamed the entire time, they came home earlier than planned and said he was laughing when they drove off hahaha typical that's one thing he just needs to get used to I suppose.

Here's me getting excited about baby classes they just announced localised ock down tonight :(

Mrbay · 08/09/2020 16:28

@Welshpugmomma - that soup sounds lush!
Boo about lock down. My mangers has just come back from Wales and said the SD and mask wearing was pretty poor.

@KittyKatSmile - if I get to parenthood, it sounds like I have so much to learn!
Perhaps you could row over to Poole for a night away?
Oh really?! That takes guts to do, but there is nothing worse than working for a company that doesn't look after you - onwards and upwards to your next adventure!

I've told work about the Op, my manager, now realises that I won't be able to work for a number of weeks - not sure how she didn't understand when I initially told her months ago - but heyho!
She thought I'd be over it within a week and back to working from home - ummmmm - nice thinking love!

Cauliflower82 · 09/09/2020 08:02

@Mrbay that’s really great news ☺️ Are you feeling alright about it?

@KittyKatSmile well done you! Big step! I always feel like these things just have a habit of working themselves for the best. Screw your old job!

@Welshpugmomma weaning is not going well here - little pip firmly keeps his mouth tightly shut at the sheer mention of food 😬 mind we’re doing the whole two weeks of veg thing so that isn’t helping. Last night I caved and give him some blueberries blended - he screamed! Tonight I’m going to try some toast. Much to my panic, maybe he’s more suited to finger foods. I guess we’ll find out. I wanted to do purées but he’s a determined little soul. He won’t even open his mouth for calpol. Can I ask how it all started for you? Did he instantly take to food?

@Zest11 we’ve signed up to a baby sensory song singing group thing (although singing is whispered with masks on 😂 I laugh but I’m totally just trying to embrace the new way). Cases are doubling quite rapidly up here now, although in comparison to the rest of the country were fairing quite well.

Me and Pip are really getting into a good rhythm - I am just loving the six month mark. He’s so energetic, always moving (I fear he may crawl soon 😬) and he’s just great fun to be around. We’re seeing quite a few more friends now out and about.

When are others thinking of returning to work? I’d originally said after Christmas but I’m thinking possibly Feb half term now.

Mrbay · 09/09/2020 17:21

@Cauliflower82 - I would feel a little more at ease if 1) I had my admission paperwork 2) I didn't have to have a covid test and finally 3) will it go ahead with the recent rise in cases??
Other than that, I am really looking forward to it being done!

Glad you are getting out and about with Pip :) If you can afford to take the year, grab it with both hands as you won't get this time again with Pip.
Just make sure you give your employer enough notice that you want to extend, nothing worse than doing it to late and having to stick with the original date.

Zest11 · 10/09/2020 14:26

@Mrbay Oh I am glad you have a date and things are moving along for you. I think your operation will be just in time before anything else happens Covid related. The Covid test isn't nice but it's over pretty quickly - my partner and I got one done when we were in hospital. Being negative meant he could visit on the postnatal ward afterwards.

@kittykatsmile I'm glad to hear that Daddy Joe is helping out with the parenting and giving the weaning advice!

@welshpugmomma Wow the multi class sounds like a good one. Swimming also sounds really good too. I'm sorry you're in a localised lockdown. They sound really crappy and judging by the new rules it looks like things may be tightening up everywhere again :(

@cauliflower82 Pleased to hear you are getting out and about socialising. I would say take the year if you can afford to as well! You sound so happy in your posts and I think you would be regretful if you were financially able to take a year but didn't. We have signed up to a sensory class too...not be told about the whispered singing haha! I assume it will still go ahead and I'm also doing a baby massage one too.

@ginandtonic31 How are things going with you and G? Hope all is well.

Baby J (not Josiah @welshpugmomma!) has been a delight most of the time. He's in a happy mood every morning, smiling and cooing and he's now rolling over from tummy to back on his little gym. We do stories, nursery rhymes and I think he will soon start grabbing toys. I do find the sleep thing hard - he's okay at night but no naps in the day except when I walk for HOURS with him in the carrier and as he's now about 1stone I'm struggling! :( Really not sure where to go - tried putting him in the crib which he sleeps in fine at night, the pram, our bed but he just won't go even though he is yawning.

Cauliflower82 · 10/09/2020 14:59

@Zest11 yip, I feel you on the nap front. Pip will sleep fine now on a night time but naps have always been a struggle and still are. He’ll nap but only on me 🤷🏼‍♀️ He’ll nap on his dad too but his dad is at work. Are you managing any naps? I don’t think I have any advice, only reassurances that my baby fights naps too - although he naps on the sofa but I’m stuck the entire time 😂.

@Mrbay I’m hoping and thinking @zest11 is right and everything is going to be okay and you’ll get in there before anything kicks off again.

On both your advice, I’ve told work Feb now so no going back. Financially it means it’s tight but we’ll be fine

So, first baby sensory singing class today was interesting. Totally not my kind of thing 😐 is it bad for me to say that? Possibly. Pip cried a bit because there were so many other babies screaming. He also did a massive poo and I was that gross parent who just changed it there and then 🤷🏼‍♀️. Oh well! I’ll go back in the hope it’ll grow on me.

KittyKatSmile · 10/09/2020 15:47

@Cauliflower82 I am also one of those people. I went to one singing class but then thought 'i know how to sing and wave scarves over your face' so I never went back 😀

I only go to those sorts of things to meet people so if you want that angle then keep going otherwise sack it off if you want to. I wanted to make sure I left the house so if I have plans then no need for baby barista etc!!

Sucks to hear there may be more locking down. We are so lucky over here but it does sometimes hit me that I can't escape this tiny rock! I really want to see my friends and cuddle my best friend's baby who now weighs 35% more than Nancy in spite of being 3 weeks younger than her!!
