@AliciaWhiskers Good luck! Hope it is positive! X

AliciaWhiskers · 12/10/2020 09:53

Eeeeeeeeeeeek! It’s positive 😁😁😁😁

Zest11 · 12/10/2020 10:39

@AliciaWhiskers Ahhh that's amazing!! So so happy for you. Such a lush feeling isn't it?! I bet you're feeling over the moon. What happens next? Do you need to go in for bloods? 7wk scan?? When did you start testing? (I'm not convinced you held out this long!! Grin) More details needed pleaseeee! X

AliciaWhiskers · 12/10/2020 10:54

It’s a bit surreal to be honest! I didn’t think it would work! I have no idea what happens next, I need to contact clinic today to tell them the result and then I guess they will tell me what to do from there! And I might have done a sneaky test (or two) last week but there was no progression between 7dp5dt and 8dp5dt so I thought I was out. We were then away for the weekend so I couldn’t test, but I also couldn’t do my jeans button up so it was a bit of a giveaway really!!

KittyKatSmile · 12/10/2020 21:27

@AliciaWhiskers argh! Amazing news! I'm so bloody delighted for you. Sending ALL the love xx

Welshpugmomma · 18/10/2020 07:48

Wow congratulations @AliciaWhiskers sorry I'm a bit late to the party buts that is fabulous news though :) bet you're thrilled to pieces! Lots to look forward to especially those first scans where it will all feel a bit more real! Hope you dodge the sickness! Yayyy to good news:)

Welshpugmomma · 18/10/2020 07:56

@KittyKatSmile Josiah got his first tooth around 5ish months, don't want to give too much away but when they have top and bottom thats when the nips are in grave danger!Halo

Hope you're all doing well, tbh not much exciting to report apart from our t mortgage finally got approved so now we are just crossing everything for a move by Christmas 🎄 hubs is away now so the days seem longer especially the harder days haha like bed time can't come any earlier!

Was feeling impressed that I'd managed to fill my weeks a bit more with classes and meeting other mums but they will all be canceled now in due because of this circumstances breaker lock down! Joined peanut found it a little weird because I don't know how I'm supposed to guess if I'm going to get on with another woman as a friend haha! Arranged to meet someone but let's see if they really do exist lmao 🤣

Need to find a pumpkin outfit today for little one we are going to pumpkin farm tomorrow for compulsory cliché picture Grin

Cauliflower82 · 19/10/2020 15:53

Wow! I’ve missed so much.

@AliciaWhiskers yay!!!! I’m SO SO happy to read your news. That’s absolutely amazing. I am sending so many virtual hugs your way that my screen is going into overdrive. 🤗

So much is happening!

Local lockdown tier two area here 🙄. What’s the point, seriously. Pubs still very much open. Hundreds of students testing positive up here at the universities! All of the baby classes are still on though 🤷🏼‍♀️ it makes no sense.

Quick update as I can see Pip stirring 😳.

Weaning is going terribly!!!! He still isn’t interested in food. My HV came out to help me (the shame) but she thinks he’s just really nervous about food so to keep persevering. She even suggested ice cream ffs.

But, we have big news, Pip is crawling 😳. I think he’s been desperate since birth tbh but it’s happened. There’s no stopping him now 😂.

Sending lots of love to you all xxxx

AliciaWhiskers · 27/10/2020 16:50

Hi all! Had some bleeding over the weekend so went to EPU yesterday. Pregnancy is in the right place but they dated it as 5 weeks when I should be 6+2, and no heartbeat on the scan, so not sure if the pregnancy is viable. I've got another scan in a week (wow, that is really going to drag!!) and just have to wait and see what happens. Gah!!

@Cauliflower82 re the weaning, try not to worry too much. The manta that always used to get banded around is "food is fun until they're 1", meaning it doesn't matter how much they eat at this age, they will be getting most of their nutrition from milk still and this time is just for them to explore food rather than actually needing it. I wonder if you can make food fun for him to explore - different textures and colours etc rather than focusing on him eating it? Sorry if you've tried all this!

@Welshpugmomma how did the pumpkin pic go? Sounds super cute! And was the meetup from peanut ok? Was it a real woman?! Or just a dodgy bloke called Keith?? Wink

Hope everyone is well!

Zest11 · 27/10/2020 18:20

@AliciaWhiskers Aww no, I'm sorry to hear that. Will keep my fingers crossed for you. I hope the week goes quickly for you too. Have you done the clear blue tests with weeks indicator so you can see if there is HCG progression correctly?

@welshpugmomma congratulations on the mortgage! Exciting! I am intrigued to hear how your peanut date went too? Have you seen some of the posts people put on there? They have made me laugh: "My period is late...could I be pregnant? I haven't done a test." Urmmm...do a test?? I hope the lockdown is going okay. I guess it will mark an end to your local one though and you will be able to resume a degree of normality again shortly. How was the pumpkin farm?!'

@cauliflower82 I heard the same about weaning about it just being for fun. Ice cream? What about yogurt? That's exciting that Pip is crawling. How fun!

I think we are going through a sleep regression at the moment...it's so so tough. For the last 10 days or 2wks or so J's sleep has been very inconsistent. He's battled nap times and it's been horrid! On some occasions when he wakes in the night he won't go back to sleep for 3 hours!! We have fed, soothed, ignored his grizzling, all sorts but he is just wide awake Sad. Cannot wait for this phase to pass!

AliciaWhiskers · 28/10/2020 10:33

Yes I did the clearblue test which increased from 2-3 to 3+ weeks at the correct time, and when I was in A&E on Saturday they did my HCG which was approx 7500 which is fine for 6 weeks, so I'm not sure what is going on. I asked if they would repeat the HCG at the EPU but she said no, so just got to hold out for the repeat scan next week at the fertility clinic. My fertility Dr said if the bleeding restarted then I needed to double up on the progesterone pessaries and start to use one vaginally and one rectally at the same time, twice a day. Can you imagine?! I really hope I don't have to do that!!!

Cauliflower82 · 28/10/2020 15:25

@AliciaWhiskers I hope you’re doing alright there and holding up. I remember the early days of pregnancy well and I found them terrifying. In fact I often refer to the first trimester as the worst one because that fear is hard to subside. I don’t know if I’ll make you feel better but figured I’d try - I bled early on too with Pip. They dated the pregnancy out too and they found no heartbeat and I think it was around about five to six weeks. I went a week later and his little heart was pumping away. This is probably not a popular opinion but I hated being pregnant - I always felt the fear. I dreaded seeing blood again. I think that’s why I didn’t mind birth and forceps because I was just too relieved to have him out safe and sound. How is your husband getting on? I hope you’re both doing well.

@Zest11 are you nearing the four month sleep regression? We found that brutal! But his sleep improved massively after. On a night time. Naps are still rather hideous as he’ll only nap on me or his dada 😳 hours and hours at a time.

Weaning update. Pip is kind of liking strawberry yoghurt and is loving peanut butter at the moment. But still not much of an eater 😭 we’ve tried every approach imaginable too. Will keep going 😂

Zest11 · 28/10/2020 18:06

@AliciaWhiskers Arghh I can't imagine how you're feeling...the uncertainty and confusion! Hopefully it's a haemotoma (sp) which I think some people on this forum had. Not nice about the pessaries but whatever it takes! Really hope all is good for you! The HCG sounds very reassuring!

@cauliflower82 you have such a lovely way of reassuring people. I am glad little Pip is enjoying yogurt...that sounds much better than ice cream! Yes I think we could be experiencing the regression as he is 4 months at the weekend!! Did you do anything different/special to help Pip through his or was it a case of riding it out? Naps are a bit varied at the moment too...he screams when I try to put him down for one...I find it so upsetting! They seem to be getting much shorter too!

AliciaWhiskers · 29/10/2020 08:34

@Cauliflower82 thanks for sharing your experience, it sounds very similar. Fingers crossed this pregnancy has the same outcome as yours!! DP is doing ok thanks. I don't think the waiting is as agonising for him as I just feel it or think about it constantly. Knicker checking and expecting blood (because the pessary comes out at various points during the day so there's always some discharge, sorry for TMI!), wondering if my boobs are still sore and wondering if that's just the progesterone or pregnancy related, feeling knackered but not knowing if that's just all the drugs or because I'm actually pregnant. So many things to think about all the time! Anyway, 6 days to go...

@Zest11 it's written on the scan report as a "haemorrhage" which sounds hideous! Haematoma at least sounds a bit less dramatic. But yes she did describe it as like a "bruise", so I guess it's the same thing.

Welshpugmomma · 29/10/2020 09:23

Sorry your going through this worry @AliciaWhiskers but glad @Cauliflower82 could offer some important pearls of wisdom. I bloody hated that feeling of the pessaries I wasnt a member of BPG but they were just so ickky.
I just pray you get a positive outcome...stick to the plan little embaby!

@Zest11 4 month regression killed me but I had the move and cot change all at the same time which I don't think helped, his sleep never quite went back to as good as it was he normally wakes up at least once still.... bad news I read there's an I month one too :O

My peanut date never came to fruition she canceled as her hubs got a + covid test were set to reschedule when the madness ends. Booo so no gossip on that front.

Poor little boy had got his first cold and is a pretty big eye opener last night worst night yet woke up crying about 6 times, it's turned to a chesty cough and was keeping him and me up!

My parents just bought him a car walker and he's literally zooming up and down the room - a great alternative to him calling to the dog bowls EVERY 5 SECONDS arghhh!

The pumpkin patch was so lovely just to get out especially as we went a couple days before the lockdown started, managed to get a big pumpkin im going to try and stick him in... let's see how that'll go haha will keep you updated ;)

Welshpugmomma · 29/10/2020 09:25

@zest11 all I did through the regression was stick to the normal routine as much as possible. ..

@Cauliflower82 glad she's enjoying the yoghrurt that's something! Have you tried regular porridge oats with milk? And then maybe add strawberries? Eventually could change that to more savory flavors! I'm sure you've tried that already but that's all I can add ;)

KittyKatSmile · 29/10/2020 18:59

@AliciaWhiskers I'm so sorry to hear you're going through this shit after everything else you've gone through. The BFN podcast did quite a bit on bleeding as one of them had a haematoma, as did a friend of mine who was then monitored the whole way but just had her baby a few weeks ago. None of which is particularly helpful for you during the hell of waiting.

@Cauliflower82 weaning sounds painful. It really does seem to be luck of the draw which baby you get! No suggestions really but just stick with it. I'd heard the 'food before one is just for fun' and I just thought 'this is no fun for anyone. Why would we choose to do this?! If it's just for fun I'm going to wait until one'!!

@Zest11 same as @Welshpugmomma 4 month regression was a killer. You will get through it. I can't say when as I can't remember but my monster sleeps through the night again in a fashion...

@Welshpugmomma can't believe your blind date got cancelled, although that's a strong excuse she pulled out for you!!

@Ginandtonic31 @Mrbay are you with us? What news?

I see this thread all the time and have no idea what it's about! Anyone?

Zest11 · 02/11/2020 20:34

@aliciawhiskers I hope the week is going okay and not completely dragging.

@welshpugmomma oh my goodness to have all that going on during the regression must have been so so hard. It sounds like little Josiah is keeping everyone on his toes...to be using a walker already...wow!! Ahh I am sooo jealous your lockdown is coming to an end soon...as ours is just beginning. Have you got any tips on how you kept sane/baby entertained? I'm really dreading it although we will be able to meet another person/mum outside so that is better than last time! Other than peanut date, have you got anything nice planned?

@kittykatsmile thank you! I know it will pass...one day!

So the sleep regression is...how do we phrase this...ticking along? Lol. We have stopped giving him a bottle in the night when he wakes up and instead giving him boob which seems to have more success in settling him back down. I have just read back from many of your July posts and it is reassuring that this is normal but difficult when living through it!!

Does anyone have any suggestions on keeping babies warm at night? We have him in a 2.5tog sleeping bag but have noticed recently his hands are really cold when he wakes up and not sure what to do?!

Welshpugmomma · 02/11/2020 21:18

Aw man I know about the sleep and cold, he's ina 2.5tog I put him in a vest and then normal pjs too, he normally feels a bit chilly but then I read 18c is ideal room temp and ours is normally 19c/20c ,I did buy some heavy fleece pj's but then he felt too warm lol!

We had a bit of a crappy week, ended up in hospital with little one on Thursday night :( he had bronchiolitus was struggling a bit with breathing, they swabbed for covid . Thankfully negative and hes definitely on the mend! Glad your regression is going *well!

Can't gloat but its been blooming boring being in a local lockdown and then this! So glad to be getting some freedom back but still no family visiting :@ bloody ridiculous 🙄

Good luck ladies stay safe and sane! I haven't done much exciting...made a sensory box the other day with filled bottles/rattle/pat mats etc , he's loved it and been quite entertained. Literally very little else going on! Can't wait for our groups to start back :)

@AliciaWhiskers hope your well and taking care of yourself x

KittyKatSmile · 02/11/2020 23:04

@Zest11 I would say 2.5 tog is fine. I've only just put Miss N back into that one tonight, before that she's been in the 1.0 one. Babies' hands are meant to be cold a lot of the time apparently. Got told that in hospital when I pressed the buzzer and asked if she was about to die because of her cold hands. What I also learned at some point was that bad things are more likely to happen to babies in the winter as they get bundled up and are more likely to overheat. So a long way of saying he's probably just fab as he is.

@AliciaWhiskers thinking of you.

Sending so much love and strength to all of you going into this piece of shit lockdown. At least you can see one other person outdoors. I felt better seeing that x

AliciaWhiskers · 03/11/2020 13:20

Hello all. Scan is tomorrow and this week has dragged. I go from being sure that it's a MMC to being positive, and all the way back around again, so no idea what tomorrow will actually bring! I have done countless pregnancy tests which all are strongly positive and I paid privately for a repeat HCG (I must be mad!) which showed that the HCG doubled in about 6 days, which I think is slower than it should be but it at least had increased. Anyway, the scan is the only thing that will give a definitive answer, so only 1 more day to wait for that!

Yes, don't worry if their hands are cold. As long as their backs are warm (not too hot) they will be fine.

@Welshpugmomma sorry to hear about your hospital trip, poor little love. I hope he is much better soon and glad it wasn't covid.

@KittyKatSmile I'm assuming you are still in Guernsey? It's pretty much life as usual there at the moment isn't it (unless you are travelling in)? Fingers crossed it stays that way. I wish the UK had locked down their borders like Guernsey had!

@Zest11 the sleep regression will pass but it's a bit of a killer when you are in the middle of it! That zombie lack of sleep is the pits!

Mrbay · 03/11/2020 15:48

Hi All

Our thread doesn't notify me for some reason.

@AliciaWhiskers - praying for good news tomorrow. Are you allowed to have DP with you?

I'm pretty much fully recovered from surgery and my periods are pretty much normal and low pain - yay! I've not have the slimming effect that I thought I would be hay ho!
our 6-weeks of no sex is going to be made slightly longer as DH is off on covid related activity for who knows how long!

Hope everyone is doing well.

regarding sleep issues, my friend is swearing by the Lush sleep stuff, its for adults so you have to decide if you are comfortable on using on your baby's skin.
