Cycle Buddies March/April

I know its a bit early but I am awaiting for AF to arrive this month so we can start our second fresh IVF cycle.
Our history is I'm 41, ttc 3 years now, unexplained infertility. AMH is 1.7 We had a fresh cycle last year (march/April as well!) and had 2 embryos put back. They stuck until 9dp5dt.
We have changed clinics - as I couldn't go back to the first one, nothing they did wrong really, just in my head I couldn't go back there.
New clinic does seem more thorough, so we are going to be on different drugs, still buserelin to down reg but then onto Menopur. I am going to have the scratch this time too.
Last year the cycle buddies thread on here was invaluable to me so if anyone else is starting soon it would be lovely to have the support.

Hi bones, glad U started this tread.
I am 37, ttc 2 years. Had a miscarriage at 8 weeks 3 years ago, Had fibriod surgery 6 months after that.
Had another surgery to remove scar tissue
last week.
I have consultant appointment on sat to discuss meds and protocol. Hoping to start in March.
What protocol are you on? I have a lowish Amh of 8 and my consultant said I will be on the short antagonist protocol.

I am sorry it did not work for U the first time bjones. This is my first cycle and I am worried to death about how I will respond to the meds.
I pray this cycle will be the miracle for us all.

Thanks heart to be honest I was 'lucky' in that I responded well to all the meds, hardly any side effects, v bloated and a headache for 48hr but that was it. But everyone reacts/responds differently. I do hope its your first time lucky

Thanks for starting this thread bjonesreborn.
I am 35, DH had the snip many years ago prior to us getting together, although I have no children, we have to self fund ICSI- seems rather unfair to me! The first cycle before Christmas was a BFN and so we are madly saving to start mid April.
Possible problems with my eggs (apprently it's probably my age), with FSH of 11 and so having high dose meds and short protocol.
Just hoping things go to plan this time because we simply can't keep affording it 🙁

Hi yorkshire and welcome. Yes all is very unfair. We too are self funded, as even for first round the local authority website said cut off age was 40, then when my dr applied for me they declined as said cut off date was 39.5. I was so angry.....dr appealed and still no. So we are in same boat in that respect, we do not have a bottomless pit of money either.

It's so frustrating. I felt really guilty that having spent all that money it was for nothing. I didn't even have any embryos to freeze.
Well fingers crossed this time is successful for us all.
Are you preparing yourself any differently this time? I'm taking more supplements and doing accupuncture this time.

No Frosties over here either sadly.
Yes am taking More supplements too, one on the advice of the clinic. Less alcohol and less caffeine.
Find all that bit terribly frustrating too as so many woman just carry on and half the time don’t even know they’re pregnant....anyway don’t get me started on all that!!!
Acupuncture- a few people have mentioned it to me but i’m Just not sure I believe in all that enough to warrant spending the money - I may of course live to regret that.

Hello yorkshirelass,
The system can be so unfair and to think some get funding for breast implants.
I am sorry your cycle before Christmas was not successful.
Preparation wise, I am taking 600mg Co enzyme q (read quite a bit about it on mumsnet). I also take folic acid, pregnacare and inofolic; figured it wouldn't hurt.

How are U doing Bjonesreborn.

@Bjonesreborn, less alcohol, that's honest enough lol. I tell myself no alcohol but sometimes I just go what the hell and gulp down half a bottle of 🍷.
Like you said, some don't even know they r pregnant and carry on as normal sometimes unhealthy yet they have successful pregnancy. A colleague's 19 year old daughter was pregnant for almost 6 months and didn't even know it.

Well, we will make the most Of The card we have been dealt with and somehow make it into a success story

Hi Heart2God, it does seem very unfair and incredibly frustrating. Sounds like we might be on a similar protocol. My AMH was 7.2 🙁

@Bjonesreborn wouldnt say I drink a lot of alcohol or caffeine but am trying to cut it out where possible! Know what you mean about accupuncture. Thought I'd give it a go to see if it helps with the stress of it all.

I'm currently taking Pregacare and Royal Jelly.
Have either of you been offered the scratch? Been reading up about it this evening.
I'm sure like me you are both eager to get going with it but feeling very apprehensive at the same time. Here's to three success stories!

I’m taking coq10 as well, dhea and pregnacare.
Yes, I am having the scratch, I wasn’t offered it but I asked for it.the clinic said that due to my age they wouldn’t refuse me. So that will be the first thing, as think it happens on roughly day 13 of the cycle.

I was told about the scratch the first time around, however, nothing has been mentioned this time. I'm going to ask the consultant. Have they mentioned an extra cost for it?
Any recommendations on the coq10?

Hi yorkshire the scratch is £150 at my clinic. I bought my coq10 on amazon - ubiquinol double strength 200mg.

@Yorkshirelass, I wasn't told about scratch but I had hysteroscopy done a week ago to remove uterine adhesion. The consultant said my uterus look good after the surgery.
I am having a follow up appointment on Saturday, I will ask about the scratch then.

Day 1 for me today so have my scratch booked for 2nd March and start buserelin 4th March. Can’t believe i’m Doing it all again!!

I can't wait for my day 1 which I am expecting on the 3rd on March.

We will probably be stimming the same period.

Sounds like you are both starting before me. Know what you mean about starting again. Don't think people realise how much it takes out of you. However, it is exciting and we must try to stay positive!

I am sorry darling, I am new to this; I thought down regulation starts on Cd2.
Well 4th is only 2 weeks away so fingers crossed.

That’s ok, it’s all pretty confusing isn’t it??!! Maybe for a short protocol it’s cd2, but I am on the long protocol. I was lucky last tome as no side effects at all, think I had a bad headache for couple days and was bloated towards the end but that’s it. Must remember to drink lots as that def does help. Sure you will be fine, be great if we were doing it the same time.

Bjonesreborn I had a strange side effect by where I kept smelling and tasting soil! I know bizarre! Hoping not to have that this time as it often made me retch. Quite anxious as I'm on really high meds this time.

yorkshire i’ve Never heard of that side effect. What meds were you on?
I’m really hoping this is my last period for at least a year.

Hope U r all having a great weekend (as great as it could be giving the situation)

Just a quick update, seen my consultant today. Left ovary a bit alive, right ovary dormant with just one follicle.Sad

Going to be on short antagonist protocol. My meds should arrive by next weekend, then call in on Day 1 to arrange baseline scan.
I am worried I may not have enough eggs harvested (feeling like an egg farm).
