Just thought I'd create a second thread for those following this case.

Thank you

If this is about Nicola Bulley, you should probably have put her name in the thread title.

I honestly thought another woman had gone missing.

I did it so people could find the thread! The other one had filled up so I couldn't post a link to it!

Fair enough but she has a name.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 05/02/2023 15:33

Easy to say what you would've done. In hindsight
If someone is busy or not thought for a minute someone fell in maybe you would act differently.

Some things that are obvious to one person may not be obvious to another. We all act differently and some people let's face it, are silly!

@justgettingthroughtheday I would have done the same, especially if I had no other way of contacting anyone relevant about it. My initial reaction when I find a loose dog (which has happened a few times on walks) is to post it on the local Facebook group. Most people do the same and you very quickly get someone commenting who it belongs to or phoning them for you. To just tie it up, go away and maybe not even contact anyone (other than DIL) for quite a while after just seems odd. Even if you weren’t at all worried about where the missing person was, I’d be concerned at the fact I’d left a dog tied up on its own, who would now be panicking 🤷🏼‍♀️

Allgoodthings1 · 05/02/2023 15:34

@Oldsu I think it was later confirmed the police did get in to search it

Telephome · 05/02/2023 15:35

The story has moved on from the initial thread, it would have been respectful to use her name.

Activelyannoyed · 05/02/2023 15:37

I find it a little odd I have to be honest, how the police are so sure, but appear to have nothing other than no evidence of anything criminal happening meaning they’ve decided she must have fell in the water. And they decided immediately too it seems.

i really hope they find her soon, because this isn’t going to go away in the media and the police are going to get hammered, and if something criminal did happen to her they need to know fast.

I agree with them it’s overwhelmingly likely she did fall in and drown, but overwhemlimingly likely does not mean absolute, and if it was any of our loved ones, we would need to know for certain

To b honest, I agree, why don’t you ask mnhq to change the title. Just report your op and ask.

DemBonesDemBones · 05/02/2023 15:41

I think the police know more than they're telling the public. And fair enough-perhaps they're waiting for someone to trip up.

TidyDancer · 05/02/2023 15:42

I'm sure I read something about an expert saying the river wasn't tidal (or something like that) so it was unlikely she would've been washed down stream very far and certainly not to the point where she wouldn't be found given the short time frame in which whatever happened happened.

It does seem likely that she did go into the water but the absence of any evidence or trace of her whatsoever is still bizarre to me.

Findyourneutralspace · 05/02/2023 15:43

The river is tidal at that point.

I read that the lady who found the dog tied it up and went off for an urgent appointment. She later told her daughter about finding the loose dog and the daughter knew who the dog belonged to. The daughter contacted the children’s school who phoned their father who phoned the police. I think it was much later in the morning-around 11am - the police were called.

The police have issued a statement asking people to stop "speculating"
ie: stop posting comments regarding the work of the police, what the armchair detectives think the police are doing wrong, why haven't they done this, or that etc.
Most of all to stop speculating about any involvement from those close to her and stop with the abuse of witnesses. The lady with the pram who came forward after her picture was released has been abused horrifically on social media because the keyboard warriors have decided she "looks dodgy "
How can someone innocently walking pushing a pram suddenly become prime suspect?
The media sites should switch the comments off, it's getting ridiculous now.
That poor family must be in bits

Please, don’t.

I hope her family never come across this thread. I can understand why the police have told the public to stop speculating.

stmichaelsaa.co.uk/~rotkyiwx/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/St-Michaels-Stretch-Map-and-Key.pdf

Came across this doc on another forum.

No7 is the spot where the bench is - and is called “Deep Hole” - so is clearly describing the water depth (where the river bed might well vary).

What I thought was interesting about this map is that if this is where NB fell in and floated downstream she wouldn’t be visible or likely heard from the north bank of the river as there is no footpath close to the river - however on the map attached she could / would potentially have been seen / heard from the south bank as this has a path close to the riverside at this point.

Why? Nothing remotely accusatory has been posted at all! People don't understand how she has just vanished.
On the whole people on this thread and the previous one have been very supportive towards the family.
I don't think it's unreasonable that over a week on people are confused and concerned about the police's handling of this case and what may have been missed.

I've watched it.

What was very very odd about it?
